I have consistently visited this location for about 7 years and in years past been able to order the breakfast burrito I wanted. The last few times they have been giving me a completely different burrito than I ordered. They also will refuse to return or remake about 50% of the time, even though it was their mistake. Went there for a breakfast burrito, I asked for egg, potato and bacon, NO RICE. Smothered with cheese lettuce tomato and onion. To go. Over $10 for it. Got home started to eat it and it's filled with RICE! Hardly any egg potato and bacon! I get times are tough but stop ripping off your customers by using rice as a filler. I hadn't heard the best reviews about this place so it took me 4-5 years to actually stop in and try it out for myself and my god was I missing out! First of all you need to order the chips and salsa, I hate it when Mexican restaurants charge for chips and salsa BUT these are really good. The chips tasted like they were fresh and made in house they were warm and fluffy and crispy. The salsa was very flavorful and with just a hint of heat. I ordered the egg and potato breakfast burrito smothered in extra hot green chili. It was damn good and with just the right amount of heat. Instead of traditional breakfast potatoes they use hashbrowns in their burritos which I actually really enjoyed but might not be for everyone. My friend ordered crispy chicken tacos and the shell was fresh and crispy made in house just like the chips. I'll definitely be back to check this place out for dinner and explore other flavors but by first impressions, I'm in. read more

I am picky when it comes to Mexican food. This is my go to place for Breakfast burritos. The green chili is very good and doesn't have meat.

Not really sure what to think about this place, the food is pretty solid, the problem I have with this place is the imaginary prices. So last week we had ordered the enchilada dinner and stuffed sopapilla. Both very good and the prices were as posted on yelp here 7.99 ea. This week we decided to order again, this time two enchilada dinners. I asked the lady on phone what my total was and she says you need a total now??? Well I didnt get one, get to the restaurant and now the enchilada dinner is 13.99 ea. We have only had our food to go, but there are a couple of tables for customers to dine in, as well as a couple of picnic tables outside. The food here is okay but tonight Dec 3rd I fell hard on solid thick ice in the parking lot and hit my head . What was so disappointing was when I told the woman who is always at the front desk that I had fallen on the ice, all she had to say was "where? Out there? She didn't ask if i was okay or anything! No compassion at all. I suggested that she sprinkle ice melt out there and she said they do but it just freezes again. She said this in a very nonchalant rude manner...Wouldn't it make sense to hire someone to chip away at the thick ice so your customers are safe. I got 2 smothered beef and bean burritos but i should have only gotten one. They are pretty big. I tried to call before i went over there a few times but nobody answered the phone. This was an ok spot for food. I got their asada burrito smothered in green chili, a chorizo taco and a horchata. The burrito wasn't the greatest. I got it with no rice/beans, not sure if that would have made a difference overall. The sauce was watery and bland. I like cheese but there was a lot. This is extremely hard to do...been a LOYAL customer for years. Today I went and ordered my regular burrito. Got home and instead of chicken, hot and cheese, it was rice, potato, egg, hot and cheese. I called and advised of the FIRST TIME EVER ISSUE. She said she'd talk to the cook, I said I'd be there after my husbands dr appt. So I get there and the cook refuses to remake the burrito cause she did it right the first time? I was like over a burrito really? I told the gal that we've been good customers for a long time and I know it won't kill them to lose us and really over a burrito that I'm not lying. It's almost like they see your number come up on caller ID and intentionally don't answer your calls or they leave the phone off the hook. Let me start this off by saying, that to the best of my experience , the food is actually really good here. The problem is, the service is absolutely horrible. This was our second visit, and this time we found a hair in my burrito. Now, on its own, this is not the biggest deal in the world. I still would not have wanted to eat the burrito, but mistakes can be made. They said that the hair was not wet, and implied that it must have been planted, and that I'd already eaten half the burrito. At this point, I just wanted to leave, but sadly, you prepay here. Any reputable restaurant would have offered a refund and an apology. At Mercedes' though, you get your money stolen, and accused of being a thief. Now that I think about it, the dripping water in the corner, the lack of any hairnets and several other health code violations may have also contributed to the overall environment. Fix your restaurant, hire ALL new employees, and keep the same food, and you will have the best place in Denver. Until then... DO NOT EAT HERE! read more

Sweet baby jesus this place is good. My boyfriend insisted that he absolutely *needed* a breakfast burrito so we went and I am SO glad we did. The place is really tiny, and most people seem to get takeout (the line was out the door by the time we left) but we got a table. The service was quick and their chips and salsa are fantastic - homemade chips that almost reminded me of sopapillas without the sweet, and a solid salsa offering. I had the huevos rancheros and for some reason (because I'm an idiot?) I ordered my eggs scrambled, which is practically against the law, but it was still amazing. The plates were huge - I was starving when we got there and I could only finish about 2/3 of my food. Really good beans and rice, and green chili absolutely covered the plate. I was pumped about the chili because it didn't have any meat, which is a first for me. My boyfriend switched to their homemade chorizo and eggs, and while I didn't try it (no meat for me), he said it was great. I'm pretty sure this is my new favorite Saturday morning recovery spot. Mercedes is one of those restaurants that you would normally just drive on by without even thinking that it would be good. I made the decision to stop there one day, after 7 years of driving by it and was not disappointed. Their green chile is hot, fresh and pork free. Their potatoes in the breakfast burritos are hash browns and not diced (love this...). Eggs, good- tortilla, good... After hearing how great this was from someone at work my husband dragged me in here, and I was scared about it too. I have seen this place since I was little and I never planned on eating there because "hole in the wall joints" are my fear. The place was very clean, all of the corners, the floors, the tables, all clean! I was surprised at how clean it was actually because it was not what I expected at all!
