Located on a corner with large parking lot, it is pretty easy to find. Place itself looks a little dingy and the customer service is not really there. We had the el dorado chicken tacos and the California burrito. Expect to pay 12-15$ for each meal without drinks. Waited in line for about 10-15 minutes to place order and then another 15-20 for the food, so you have to have time available to wait and not be in a rush. The el dorado tacos were nicely fried but had very little meat in it. The California burrito had steak in it which was extremely dry. Salsa was a little watery and lacking in flavor. I love taco Tuesdays and losing taco River, that was on my way to work... I was looking for a great taco Tuesday/taco Wednesday place and I found it in La Torteria! Yes, the parking lot has potholes... Just look out for them :-) this little strip mall, Mexican restaurant blew me away! The options that they had for their taco Tuesdays were phenomenal! I had never had pork stomach before and I think I'm in love. They have a great little salsa bar and the gentleman taking my order was fabulous! I only had to wait six or seven minutes to get my six tacos for myself and my work mate. They did not disappoint!Can't wait to try a few more of their options. I'll be back next week :-) read more

Amazing. Fast. Authentic. Delicious. It is the hole in the wall Mexican food. But if that's what you want, like we did, this place will exceed expectations. They were slammed busy (which is always a good sign) tacos were $1-$1.50 on Tuesday and Wednesday. I was maybe 5th customer in line to order when I arrived. Yea, it has been confirmed. There is a grumpy, rude lady behind the counter, who can't take an order from someone who speaks English (huh?). Can't beat the $1 tacos on Tuesday & Wednesday! (Some $1.50 and you must order in groups of 2)... don't expect all the salsas if you go late in the day! Coming from Houston and decided to give this place a shot. We were craving some authentic Mexican food like back at home and this place did not disappoint!!! We ordered the horchata, quesabirria, barbacoa & chicharrón tacos & when I tell you... DELICIOUS! We also wanted to try the chicharrón sitting in the window and they were nice enough to let us try before buying. That was amazing as well. The salsa verdes are also perfection. Love checking out holes in the wall but this place is downright foul. There are signs outside and inside stating $1 tacos on Tuesday's and wednesdays so I decided to stop by today (tuesday). I bought 3 asada tacos and 3 Barbacoa tacos, when the guy said $8 and change I was confused but continued to give him my card and leave a tip anyways, first red flag. I go to the bathroom after ordering to wash my hands I return and the food is ready, probably 60 seconds, red flag number two. I look and one looks like pork the other looks like steak. I told the guy at the counter and he proceeds to tell me I ordered pork. I told him I didn't and He took my plate and they quickly switched out the pork for rhe barbacoa. I could still see little pieces of pork on the tacos whatever I just wanted to eat as quickly as possible and leave at this point. The tacos I got were just whatever I tried the green and pink salsa they have the green is okay but the pink was disgusting. If I'm going to be surrounded by flies and shitty food at least the employees can be nice and not mess up my order or overcharge my credit card. The last two times I came to order an older lady took my order. She was not very pleasant. I greated her with a hello in Spanish which she promptly ignored. My previous order of Maw, was dry and tasteless. So, today I ordered the lengua on 4 street tacos. I didn't have long to wait. Within a couple of minutes my take out order was ready. I said thank you in Spanish which she ignored again. Looked in the container and was dismayed to find big hunks of meat. Didn't even bother to ask Ms Sour Puss why it wasn't chopped up. Figured it was pointless. Think I'll take my business elsewhere and find another Taco joint. Don't care for the way my food is served. If I can be polite and great you with a smile and a hello in your native language the least one can do is respond in kind. Why in the world did it take yelp this long to get to my review and then delete it? Who knows, but I am re-writing my review so that others can see my horrible experience. Although I am forced by yelp to give this place a one star, I truly mean zero stars.....they don't deserve any with the way the old lady at the register treats non-Spanish speaking customers! When you go in, you order what you want at the register. If you're a non-Spanish speaking customer, there are no water or fountain sodas for you....the machine is "broken." You have to pay for bottled water and glass bottled sodas. Also, you will have to pay up front for your order and then find a table for eat-in. If you are a Spanish speaker, the old lady will give you cups of water and, miraculously, the fountain soda also will work for you. Then you find a table, get your food, eat your food, then pay your bill at the end. Food is horrible. We ordered a smothered burrito, which was soooooo spicy that even I couldn't eat it, and I can handle spicy Indian, Thai, and Szechuan. Tacos were so-so, nothing to praise. Menudos were plain and flavorless. No chips and salsa for dine-in. Total was $45. read more

The customer service was horrible the woman took five minutes to acknowledge myself and my father trying to order. Was looking for a good burrito for breakfast with my husband. We've lived near this restaurant for about 2 years now and finally decided to try it out. We ordered 2 bacon breakfast burritos and asked for green chili inside the burrito. The lady taking our order asked if we wanted it smothered, to which we replied we wanted it inside. She could not speak English, and a customer even translated to her that we wanted the green chili on the INSIDE. When the cook brought the burritos out to us, he repeated that the green chili was on the inside. When we got home to open our burritos, it was ONLY potato, egg and bacon. No cheese, no green chili. Offered some to my dog...he wouldnt even eat it. He eats everything. That says something. VERY disappointed. They also had food just sitting under "hot lights" not covered or anything right next to the cash register. VERY unsanitary and against health code. WILL NOT be back, and I DO NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more
