Weirdest experience walking into here for a 9:30 AM appointment on September 13th. I called this place prior and told the person I was interested in just a cleaning as a new patient. I have perfect teeth, literally always had good hygiene and literally just wanted to go somewhere to get established as a new patient with a cleaning. I was scheduled for just that. The lady at the front desk when i came in to my appointment said to me "I have no idea why you're here today, can you give me an idea what we can do for you?" So already I'm kinda put off with the professionalism because it wasn't that complicated, i wanted a cleaning, easy, she could have asked a bit differently or maybe even apologize, I get it things get lost but the phrasing just felt it could have been nicer for a new patient who's already nervous being somewhere new. Anyways when i told her I was in for a cleaning only she mentioned a $65 fee to see a dentist and I wasn't allowed to do a cleaning unless the dentist saw me first for the oral exam. She mentioned I had on my record to have a cleaning still available per my insurance but the 'oral exam' wasn't covered. I explained easily that I just wanted a cleaning, i dont have any teeth issues, just wanted a cleaning. I was told 'no exam, no cleaning', they wernt allowing to do one without the other and she was really dismissive, not trying to work with me at all. No apologies and not even trying to be polite either. So I called my insurance and CONFIRMED this was false. My insurance absolutely told me that there is no limitation like I was being explained by this lady at the front desk and its something I could totally do and he covered for. I was on the phone with my insurance right out front for 30 minutes confirming this information and yes I have a record of my conversation and what I confirmed. My insurance wasn't sure why they were refusing to do a cleaning and mentioning a oral exam charge like this. So I didn't want to go back in there, now being 30 minutes past my appointment and I didn't want to be a Karen by risking any verbal confrontation with a employee that was making it quite obvious they didn't want me as a new patient haha. It was really weird, I have no idea why they'd lie to me as it was something I could very easily check with my insurance which I did. I also took time off work to attend this cleaning so i was admittedly annoyed that i wasted my PTO time in the morning for this. My insurance gave me the names of a few other Dental offices near me. I called the first place and my interest in just a cleaning. They had a cancelation and advised they could take me at Noon same day. They didn't do Oral Exams before cleaning and mentioned it's usually done after a cleaning depending on what comes up during my cleaning, it's not necessarily needed all the time depending on my teeth health. I went to my appointment at Noon and it was all charged 100% to my insurance, no 'oral exam' fee like this place was trying to do which further reinforced that the employee likely had no idea what she was talking about or was misleading me unintentionally. I dunno, it didn't feel purposeful and was likely an honest mistake but still, was a weird encounter. I mean I been to dental appointments my whole life and this is the only place that tried to do this to me. I've always seen a hygienist before the dentist, my teeth are all veneers on the top so i rarely needed a dentist as they are pretty healthy. Anyways this place also lost business on an implant too. The place I ended up going to did end up getting the dentist in after my cleaning for a quick talk about an interest about a tooth implant that i expressed and didn't even charge me an out of pocket 'oral exam' for that either. Seriously no idea what this place was thinking, maybe talk to your front desk staff about this 'oral exam' charge, maybe they are misunderstanding a procedure because it's the first time I heard about this being mandatory and especially when I voiced a interest in just a cleaning. read more

I personally would not recommend this dentist. In 2021 I had completed half of my treatment plan before I lost my insurance. Within a year most of the work he had done had either broken apart or had come completely out. I had to get a cavity filled in the middle of my front two teeth and I can not floss without it getting stuck. When I addressed it he attempted to shave it down but it did not help. Every appointment I had there was unusually fast when a dentist should take his time when working on your teeth. I had a crown put in by him which has chipped this past month. I just realized he did not offer a warranty plan. My current dentist has warranty for crowns for up 5 years in comparison. I wish I knew better in picking the right dentist before paying so much out of pocket. read more

I don't recommend this dentist. I had a crown done and it needed to be replace three times because it kept braking. It turns out, he didn't use the best material for it. Now, a few months later, my tooth is throbbing in pain but I'm going to see a different dentist because I lost trust in Dr Merchant. In the process of doing my crown, he made a gap on it and didn't even bother to correct it or tell me about. Lots of food gets stuck there. My dentist tells me it was poorly done. Dr Merchant also used a lot of school students do the cleanup afterwards and they have no experience and they don't do a good job so he always have to come back and clean what they couldn't do. This has been one of the best dentist visits I've had since I was very young. The front desk staff were courteous and amazingly friendly, greeting me as though I had been there countless times when, in reality, it was my first visit ever. I was called in quickly (though that may have been the fact that I was there at 11:00 on a Thursday) and took x-rays within 5 minutes of sitting down. Another 5 minutes pass and Dr. Merchant cheerily greets me as though I was an old friend and quickly goes through his suggestions for my broken tooth. He was kind, courteous, understanding, and extremely knowledgable. He constantly asked if I had questions and when I did, took the time to explain his answers in-depth. He and his nursing staff also took extra care when I told him of my fear of needles and the nurse even offered to hold my hand. Thankfully the procedure was finished quickly and painlessly within the projected 20 minutes. Overall, my experience was marvelous and would recommend anyone looking to get their teeth cleaned, mended, or anything really to go to Dr. Merchant. read more

Tried to make an appointment with one of the representatives, she told me to call back in a week when I asked why she said very demeaning "don't you know it's a holiday this weekend why don't you just walk in" , which makes no sense she was rude and in a rush to get me off the phone. I went against my better judgement went in to find out when I could come in, they were extremely unorganized and from what I could see they we not very clean, I do not recommend this place to anyone. I've seen the mom and the son and like them both. They are very, very calm dentists. The outside of the office (especially the entrance door) is off-putting, but the inside is very clean, although far from fancy. In fact, it's as generic as an office can be. I've always received my preferred appointment day and time and I can't think of a single time when they've run late. All the assistants are very nice. I've never needed major work--- just cleanings, x-rays, and a few fillings. They do NOT try to up sell their services at all. I've been going there twice a year for about 8 years. read more

I chose this office for the location. I've been disappointed more than once, however. First time I had a root canal here, the filling quickly fell off within the first week. Second time I had another root canal the filling fell off again. Third time, when I had a crown replaced, i noticed the assistant leaving it on the table without anything under it or around it. I asked he what she was going to do with it and then she put it on a piece of napkin. Cleanliness and respect for patients' own teeth is clearly lacking in this office. During the procedures, the doctor would be joking and chit-chatting with the assistant about what they 're going to do after work as if you weren't there. He would talk to you knowing that you cannot respond and your mouth is gaping open. I am in pain a lot of times and there is always a wait whether you are on-time or whether you are late. What's more, the 'regular' cleaning was not so much a cleaning as a 5 minute let's-look-at-your-mouth thing. If it weren't for the location, I wouldn't be coming back here. read more

My father who is 78 years old has been seeing Dr. Merchant for over 15 years! He loves both Dr. Merchants! The mother and the son! They are both honest and thorough! They are always on time and very understanding. My daughter was super nervous and her anxiety was through the roof and they all made sure she was comfortable. I have been going to Dr. Merchant's office for 10 years now. I've had many root canals and other major work. Dr. Merchant is the best at what he does, which includes assembling a professional staff. I went in to have an annual cleaning and checkup. The office was very gross,old, outdated and unsanitary looking. I went to the place because it was where I was assigned by my limited dental plan, they know this and try to capitalize on that. As I waited in my chair I overhead people paying their bills (the office is very small and cramped) which were all very high for seeing on the sign in sheet that we all had dental insurance. Once the dentist saw I had no cavies and or any other way to make more money off me than just doing the cleaning my insurance covered I was informed that I needed a pricey deep cleaning which of course my insurance would not cover. I have had my teeth clean every 6-12 months my entire life and take good care of my teeth, have never been told such a thing. It's a greedy ploy and I will not to business with people like that. I will go pay out of pocket to go to a nice, clean and sanitary facility where they are not just trying to cash in! read more

Great Dentist! Sometimes you go to the Dentist and you feel like you are visiting a used car salesman .. do i really need to buy the things they are selling? Not at Dr Merchant. He is very trustworty - he would never recommend services you didn't need. All the dental assistants are really nice too. And its obvious that they really respect Dr Merchant as a person and as a dentist. Definitely a great place to go for good dental care! read more
