We were immediately greeted by the owner's brother (can't remember his name) but he was so friendly and outgoing and made us feel like regulars. Each wine that we tasted was great and the vibe of the tasting room was really relaxed. I ended up buying a t-shirt that is now one of my favorites - so soft and comfy! This place was an unexpected treat. We went in intending to do some tasting at the winery Mercury shares space with. But our host was so pleasant, knowledgeable, and funny that we just had to stay. Shame on me for not writing this sooner! What Brad is doing with his Mercury wines is downright phenomenal. I'm up in Geyserville every few months and it seems like every time I walk in to Mercury he's cooking up some new idea or releasing a complex wine. Don't get me wrong, they have their tried and true varietals, but what makes this place special (aside from the stellar service) is the unique and delicious wine you can't get at your mainstream store. These guys are so much fun. You can tell they love spending their days making wine. The tasting was relaxed but as newcomer to the intricacies of wine, we learned a lot and had many laughs along the way. They had incredible blends of pinot noir from northern ca that were interesting, complex, and tasty. Yum! Love their wine but the rose is my favorite. Was able to try it at barrel tasting weekend in 2011 and have been meaning to come back ever since. I've been to many tasting in and around Alexander Valley. I had never been to Mercury and I stopped by after lunch at Diavola. Really glad I did! Mercury had super interesting varietals (loved their Tempranillo and Cab Franc). Every wine I tasted there was exquisitely crafted. Even the whites and the pinks I never like - LOVED. Hints of apples and like pears and a lovely perfect dryness to it (this was the "orange"). Such a lovely spot and wonderful people. We had a wine tasting on the sunny, cool patio. My partner and I stopped in Geyserville looking for a place to buy our friend some wine and came upon Mercury. We spoke to Ana, who delighted us with wine wisdom and easy conversation during our wine tasting. She was very knowledgeable and patient with our questions. We ended up buying two bottles. On the way to San Francisco, in an attempt to secure items in our car, ironically one bottle of wine fell out and broke. I emailed Mercury to ask if it was possible to have one sent to me, and I would happily pay for another bottle. Ana insisted on sending one to our house in Seattle, free of charge. We are so grateful for this generous gift, which was truly above and beyond incredible customer service. It's also worth noting that we loved all of the 5 wines we tried. Yesterday was my first experience with Mercury Wine. You had me at Albariño. Or was that Pinot Blanc? Or was that the Gewurtz? Actually, in truth, it was The Father. The crew at Mercury is making some really fabulous wine. It's been a while since I've come up to the wine county, but this visit reminded me of why I love it... And will be back again soon. A cozy tasting room in the middle of a one-stoplight town, winemakers who like hanging out in their tasting room, crafting stellar boutique wines. Everything I tasted was worth buying. My wife and I went to 6 area wineries/tasting rooms (yes, we had a driver!) and this was definitely our favorite experience of the day. Most importantly, they have amazing wine that really appealed to our tastes. Amazing Bordeaux style blends with an opinionated approach. If you like one of their wines it's likely you'll love them all. In addition, Brad the owner and winemaker was really great and attentive. He was like a third wheel in a good way. He hung out with us..tasted with us...and talked wine in an unpretentious way. We joined the club and a couple days later we're still thinking about the wine. I'd definitely go back. we tasted 9 wines for $5 person (which was waived when we each bought a bottle). I read about Mercury in an online newspaper article, and I'm so glad I did. I brought my group of 15 friends here this weekend, and everyone loved it. The tasting room is hip, beautiful, and the wine is delicious and reasonably priced. The wine maker, Brad made us feel incredibly welcome. He clearly loves what he does.
