I have just moved to Phoenix from the northern Bible Belt. It's really nice here. In my rush to pack, I unintentionally locked my keys to my safe inside the safe. Stuff happens! I had memorabilia from my deceased father and other valuables in the safe. I did not want to run the risk of damaging the contents. I called multiple locksmiths and they all said they would possibly end up having to damage the safe to a point where it could be unusable. I just had a fantastic experience with Mercury Lock & Safe. Moving here from out-of-state and never having had a wall safe before, the home I purchased did. I do indeed have a use for it, so I was pleased to have inherited it with my home purchase. With no combination for the lock and the previous owner being of no help, I went to the manufacturer's website where I was directed to a list of local authorized distributors for the brand I have. I chose the closest company to me by zip code, but to say they wanted an arm-and-a-leg to come out (service call charge), plus quoting a per-hour rate after already paying that initial service call, saying they "can't guarantee" they can even help me but still having to pay the call charge and however much for their time, I said 'no-way'. This is where Mercury Lock & Safe came in. I went back to the manufacturer's website and selected Mercury Lock & Safe off the list as the next closest to me distance wise. I was looking to have some Medeco locks on our newly purchased home repaired, a few cylinders replaced and a new install of a keyed deadbolt lock on a high security door. After having bad experiences with a few companies in the area, a friend recommended Mercury Lock & Safe. I never knew that they were an authorized Medeco shop and I used them in the past for hard to get keys for our shed and golf cart but it only took a few minutes for the owner, Brian to explain that they are a Medeco authorized shop and prior to any work being done I needed to get the official Medeco authorization card. Although it took a lot of time to get the Medeco authorization card which is needed to have any work done on Medeco locks and for the parts to come in we are extremely satisfied with the work of Brian's people. He then told me to call back in two or three days that he had "blanks" ordered that would work for the lock. I had a great experience Mercury Lock & Safe. It was my first time using them after seeing good reviews on Yelp. I lost my car key and fob. The dealership said it would cost me over $400 for one key and to reprogram my car and key. I bought two fob keys on the internet for $40 and took them to Mercury. They were able to cut BOTH keys and reprogram the car and the keys for under $200. They were upfront on potential costs if they couldn't program the car which can be difficult, but it was great to know that upfront. The staff was very friendly and welcoming! My Ace hardware store sent me to Mercury because they couldn't duplicate my Jeep key. I called Mercury not knowing if I could make it there before closing time. Brian said not to worry he'd wait for me. He had the blank in stock, made the key fast and only charged about a third of what the dealer would have charged. Since I bought my Van, I've been looking for a place to make an extra set of keys. Unfortunately, it has a computer chip, and I didn't trust any of the bogus reviews that I kept seeing on Yelp for locksmiths. I had talked with Ace Hardware, and they thought they could do it, but after seeing the keys, they didn't want to take the chance of ruining the chip. So they referred me to Mercury Safe and Lock. It took me a while to find them - they are located in the shopping center on the Northeast corner of Shea and Scottsdale next to Sportsman's Wine. They knew immediately what I wanted and were able to help me. It did take a little longer than I expected, because they have to call the manufacture for the pin code. While I was waiting, I had a chance to look at their merchandise. They have quite a selection of Safes, dead bolts, latches, locks, etc. And they do automotive keys - so if you are looking to have extra keys made for your car, this is the place to go. They are relatively expensive, but it is just a fraction of the cost of getting keys programmed by the dealer. read more
