I discovered this place from Eat24. They deliver to my house. I'm pretty lazy and pretty hungry so I'm always down for delivery. Unfortunately, the food was not good. Beef enchiladas came with rice and beans. I could barely eat any of it. Rice was dry, beans were like clay, beef enchiladas were super orange greasy and nothing had flavor. Food was great but The atmosphere and the service left to be desire. The Margaritas were terrible. With that food the restaurant has great potential but it will take some work. Go to El Tiempo or Ninfa and check out the margaritas there and try to replicate. Yours were way too sweet and tasted like a packaged mix. Also make some efforts to make your clientele feel welcome and not just like a crowd causing you additional work. Change the ambience of your place to provide a better atmosphere. You really could learn from your neighboring restaurants a lot and surpass the if you chose to invest. read more

This is a homey restaurant, in an area of Houston which is being rebranded as a tourist area. The exterior looks like a plain house, but the interior is clean, neat, and nicely decorated. The staff are friendly. I ordered the lunch special Chili Relleno (Beef), which came with a big salad, yellow rice, and a delicious bowl of pork & bean soup. In truth, I have yet to taste the food. Thats because I was put on hold when I tried to order take-out for 5 minutes. If I can't get someone on the phone to take my order, my suspicion is that the food and/or service inside is going to be seriously lacking. This place is horrid. After calling and making a reservation for 16 ppl they obviously were not rdy. One server for our group and two other tables. We had to get our own knives and forks too! My boyfriend and I decided to try this place out, because I found a groupon for it. I'm glad I bought the groupon, because it is a place I would not have chosen on my own. It is kind of in the hood, but so is the Ninfa's right down the street and no one seems to care about that. We really enjoyed our food here and the service was great. First, we ordered drinks I ordered a frozen Margarita, and my boyfriend ordered a Modelo. Well, he brought me a Margarita on the rocks, but I didn't complain cause as long as it has liquor, I'm not too picky. We ordered the shrimp queso flameado as an appetizer and we were pretty full off of that. It would have been enough for a table of at least 4. for our entree we both ordered the Yucatan steak. It was freaking awesome! It was kind of thin, but so tender and juicy. the marinated onions were delicious, and I usually don't like onions that much. It came with the traditional sides of rice and beans. Since it was a Yucatan style dish, it came with refried BLACK beans instead of pinto. I thought that was a nice change. The thing to remember about this place, is that it is more Yucatan style Mexican food (Merida is a city on the Yucatan Peninsula). They do have traditional Mexican food and Tex-Mex, but keep in mind that some things may not be exactly what you're used to. I deducted a star because of the margarita mix up and the salsa was just ok. I would definitely reccomend Merida to anyone. read more

Went to this place after work. We should have walked out when we saw the place was completely empty but my friends and I decided to stay...you know keep an open mind. The place had an odor to it first of all. The restrooms had water all over the floor and one of my friends actually almost fell. The chips were super stale. Rafael and his staff were extremely friendly, accommodating, and professional. We got to have the entire back party room for our event, and we couldn't have asked for more. We taste tested their menu a few times since we had two days of events to plan for. Every time we were blown away by the taste and welcoming staff. This is a great place the salsa is awesome , I had the barbacoa plate the meat is tender and juicy the tortillas fresh a nice portion of refried beans and potatoes, my wife had the carne guisada plate and my son has the chicken flautas , the chicken filling was so moist and the tortillas crisp and golden. My family and I found this place YEARS ago and absolutely love the flavors. We still drive over an hour to meet here once a month. Service is always great and the nachos are to die for. Everyone I have ever introduced to Meridas starts drooling when I mention going there. It does get a little noisy on the weekends with the live band so recommend going during the week. With 40+ people for a dinner celebration and only 1 waitress was in charge of providing service for everyone proved to be a challenge...our food was not all delivered, some of our orders got mixed up, and were unable to handle multiple transactions made eating their a negative experience. Had management provided more waiters then I am sure the confusion would have been avoided. I use to go here when I was younger and stopped going because the service and food was never truly favored. Hi! I went to lunch at Merida Mexican Restaurant at 2509 Navigation Blvd, Houston, TX 77003 with my coworkers around 11:30 to eat lunch. I ordered cheese enchiladas to eat with a lemonade.....as I was eating my enchilada, there was a huge fly that was cooked in the middle of the enchilada. I told the waitdress there was a fly and I also showed it to her....As I was waiting for my new plate the waitress refilled my lemonade. She said the will remake it and bring me a new plate....I asked her to put my new food in a togo box since I was running out of time. When we got the bill the second plate was charged to me and I didn't expect that...on top of that the waitress charged me for a refill which she never told me there was a extra charge....When my coworkers and I went to the front to pay the bill, one of the owners was up there so I spoke to her. The lemonade was 3.50 per glass , I had a refill and per the owner she said there is no refills....no exceptions...we left a tip for the waitress, it was not her fault The question I want to know is.....was I suppose to eat the meal with the fly in it? I never got to eat....I ate chips and salsa and two lemonade...since my meal had a insect in it. read more

This place is well positioned to catch people on their way to Ninfa's or El Tiempo. I was headed to Ninfa's one night, saw this spot and decided, "what the heck, I'll try it." I went in, had some pretty darn good Tex-Mex and decided I would be back. Good place to catch a bite. read more

So my friend and I came here on Friday night because I mentioned I was craving "really good Mexican food". That isn't quite what I got. The chips were really thick and the salsa was virtually flavorless.The frozen margaritas were really sweet and we didn't taste or feel any alcohol in them- we were barely able to get down half of it. My food was alright. I had chicken flautas. They weren't bad but just weren't very impressive at all. Also the rice was cold when my plate came out. I wouldn't ever decide to come here on my own but if someone I was with really wanted to come here for some reason I wouldn't refuse. Well I have been here for breakfast a long time ago and that was pretty good, tell ya the truth. But after having dinner here the other night (a Friday night), I will never be returning unless you drag me by my hair. As soon as we pulled up, some a-hole zooms through the parking lot to get the last space and ends up trying to parallel park for at least 5 minutes while me and the boyfriend casually find a space and giggle as they struggle. Anyhoo, we walk in and it's really inviting. It's dim and colorful and music is playing, people are chattering, all good right? No. The service is not what sucks. It's the food! And the portions! AND the RITAS! Everything that someone should enjoy when walking into an old school feeling Mexican restaurant! :( Makes me sad cause it's about 10 minutes from my casa. We ordered guac as an appetizer, not bad. We ordered nachos (mixed) and fajitas. Tried to get combo on the fajitas, the guy tells us we can't do that. Hmmm, ok. We order two frozen margaritas. Now a good rita will keep me coming back even if the food is not that great. So too bad for them, cause they suck! They tasted God awful and weak. We ordered a shot of Cuervo just to add a little kick. So on top of a $7 margarita that tasted like shyte, we pay another $8 for a shot that should of been in there in the first place. The food came out and for paying as much as we did, it was enough for a taco each. AND, it was cold!!! The lack of sizzle gave it all away. The nachos were ok, just a lot of cheese (which is usually a good thing) but they seemed off and were also cold. Damn it. I don't know if they are just not used to big crowds, but it was an obscene amount of money for very little food that was bleh, and drinks that were disappointing. I will never step foot into this place again. For the money you will pay here, go to Ninfas or to El Tiempo-they are literally down the street from this joint. read more

Our waiter was awful. She didn't come around for refills for our drinks or chips. We never got our beans til we were already done with our meal.
