I've been wanting to try this place for a couple of years now. What better day than taco Tuesday?!? Great mini taco plate with your choice of protein, a large (compared to other restaurants) cup of charro beans and pretty good salsas. I walked in to place a to go order and was waited on by at least two friendly employees! They made sure I knew the special of the day. The ambiance took me back to when I was a kid and would visit small Mexican restaurants like this with my parents. You really can't go wrong with this place. Great drinks and delicious Tex Mex food, some of the best in my opinion. The molcajete is delicious! The fajitas are soooo good! My go-to plate is the plancha de pollo with rice, beans, and salad. The margaritas are $7! I love bringing friends here and it's so close to the city. The staff here is so nice and welcoming! Food has always tasted great. Our neighborhood had a power outage after lightning struck a tree next door to me. I got no sleep and was just trying to get a cup of coffee and small bites for myself and teen. I tried a few places but they were closed. When I finally got here, they took my order without issues, until the pos wouldn't come back on. Unfortunately I did not have cash, but the staff said I could return later to pay!! Came here last night with my partner, staff is friendly and made sure everything was alright. We could've walked here, but it was raining so we drove. There was plenty of parking at 8AM in the morning. We were attended promptly. Their large organs juices are LARGE and they are freshly squeezed. I highly recommend the orange juice. I always go wash my hades before I eat and they had no soap or paper towels. You would think someone would check this before they opened. But I made sure to inform the waitresses since a few of them were just standing around. There was no sugar on the table but the owner saw I got up to look for sole (and there was none in any tables) and she asked me if I was looking for sugar. She brought it promptly. The coffee this time was watered down. It didn't taste like coffee. I asked for another cup. The new coffee was better for sure. I come here often with friends and family members. Because the breakfast is good and cheap. But sadly I have had bad experiences with the waitress staff. I have a disability and use a power chair. First of all, I don't like it when I am with my friends or family members and they ask them what I want to eat?. I can definitely speak for myself. Then when I try to order what I want, they pass me up like I'm not even there. The manager should train the female staff better on how to speak to someone who is disabled. The male waiter's are a bit more considerate. When you get order not all the time but considerably a lot they don't get the order correctly. I don't want to give anyone who reads this the wrong idea. Just remember if you or someone you know has a disability please go somewhere else. Until they Learn to treat people with disabilities better. read more

Food is consistently good; the service is hit or miss. This is my local, neighborhood taco joint. I'm a big fan. I go late night for beers, I brunch on the weekends, and sometimes I go on Margarita Wednesday. I don't eat meat so I get either a vegetarian torta or egg, bean, and cheese tacos. There's cheap beer and a full bar. Chips and salsa are also very good, on occasion they are served with "encurtido" which is a Latin American dish of pickled jalapeños, carrots, and onions. We tried a lot of different Mexican restaurants while we were in Houston. We hope to continue to try more. This was what I would call a lucky stop. The service was good. The waiter was not the friendliest but got the job done. They were out of several of the items on the menu including the beef soup and chicken soup. We got the special which was the carne guisada and I got the chile relleno. They were both very solid and very good and reasonably priced. The clientele was all local and you could tell repeat customers. My wife forgot her person the restaurant and they were kind enough to save it for her and we retreated the next day. This would have been a big disaster as it had all her identification and credit cards in it. Thank you again to all the staff! I can order basically the same meal I do at other Mexican restaurants, but pay 20-30% less for nearly the same quality food, if not the same quality, and occasionally better. Open, airy seating area, lots of windows, and ample parking. I don't drink, but it seems they also have a full bar. Occasional Karaoke at night. Free chips and 2 kinds of salsa. Great flour and corn tortillas. My favorite dish is the Parrillada Mexicana (contains lots of chicken fajita and beef fajita, and a few shrimps too!)...and it is easily enough for 2 to share, or for me to bring home leftovers. Besides plenty of standards, they also have some menu items that I have never encountered before. Some might call them "odd" - I call them uniquely interesting! Food comes quickly whether you dine-in or take-out. (They have another smaller, older location around the corner less than a mile away, but this larger, newer location is more family friendly, in my opinion.) I would kind of describe Abasolo as something a few steps above a "hole-in-the-wall" as far as the décor, ambience, size, etc. - but with the same good food and prices that those holes in the wall frequently offer. Be advised - some of the waitresses may not speak English, but most of them are bi-lingual. (I've actually only encountered one who only spoke Spanish - but I know how to point at the menu, so no problem!) read more

I am Very familiar with their food cause I eat there at least once a week. I consider this place as something that "a momma" would cook. the food is tasty and the servers are over all nice people. Have never had any problems with anything.
