I purchased my 1950s tea length dress from Kristine for my wedding. She has been very helpful since the first appointment. She was well prepared and showed me several dresses that I fit my style based on our conversation on the phone. Her collection is absolutely stunning and I wished I could have chosen multiple dresses... Because I trusted her taste, I ended up going back to her store to purchase my jewelry, headpiece and sash. Choosing a wedding dress and accessaries can be overwhelming, but thanks to Kristine, I had the best experience and I cannot thank her enough for her support throughout the process. If you like vintage and want to find a one-of-a-kind dress, I highly recommend Meringue!

I loved everything about my experience with Kristine. I purchased my wedding dress in Oct of 2014 after being engaged for over a year with no wedding plans in place. I was nervous about purchasing a wedding dress since I had no idea when and where I would actually get married. Kristine helped me find my dream dress. I can be very indecisive which can be very annoying for someone trying to figure out what type of dress you want. She took her time listening to me, asking questions, and showing me lots of different options until she found my dress. I went into the store just looking since I had no wedding plans in place but left wanting to plan my wedding around my dress. My husband and I decided to elope in Seattle on May 1, and I emailed Kristine letting her know. I scheduled a follow up appointment to look at hairpieces and discuss if I should have my dress hemmed. I had to reschedule my appointment 3 times because of weather/car troubles. She was very understanding and accommodating. When I finally made it in, I was 6 weeks away from my wedding date. During my appointment she showed me different hairpiece options, and since I'm so indecisive I wanted to think about everything. Being I was 6 weeks away, she let me know how long each option would take so I knew when I needed to make a decision. When I say I found my dress, I mean I found my dream dress. It fit perfectly. We debated on if my dress even needed to be hemmed at all. She put pins in my dress showing me different ways I could hem the dress. I decided I wanted it hemmed an inch only in the front. She recommended a place and told me I needed to call them right away since I was 6 weeks out. Davis Imperial Cleaners did a wonderful job on my dress and had wonderful customer service. I went to pick up my dress and when I returned home I realized the lace near my neck had a small tear. While having a small panic attack, I emailed Kristine letting her know I was freaking out. She quickly replied telling me to take it back to Davis, and it is something pretty easy to fix. When I took it back to Davis, they let me know Kristine call them letting them know I had an issue, and she wanted to make sure they took take care me. I am thankful I had such a wonderful experience finding my wedding dress, and I would recommend Meringue to anyone that wants a great customer experience.

My finished dress! Kristine helped me choose the alterations that makes it modern, funky, and still elegant.

One day I finally had time and went out of my way just to come back to peruse this store. Upon entering, no one greeted me, which is not a great start. A simple greeting can go a long way to acknowledge your customers and to make them feel welcomed. I slowly scanned each section, and I noticed at one point one of the employees came to the section I was ogling, but still did not acknowledge my presence. At that time a couple of ladies entered the store and were immediately greeted with "welcome in! Let us know if we can help you with anything!" I made my way around the store finally browsing the area near the register. The 2 sales people at the register never said a word to me. Other customers were coming in, some getting greeted, depending on their nationality is what it seemed like. In the end I spent about 20 minutes in the store and might as well have been invisible. Hopefully they learn to be better and greet customers of all colors. Three salespeople and not even one "hi" is not acceptable. In hindsight it seems that the employee that came up to the section I was at was probably to making sure I wasn't stealing?

We were shocked, confused, and honestly embarrassed, in public for something we didn't do. They didn't ask politely or explain anything. They just assumed. No proof. No apology. nothing We cooperated and showed them we had nothing, and instead of admitting their mistake, they gave us attitude and let us go like we were guilty. This kind of treatment is completely unacceptable, especially when you treat young customers like criminals just because we're teens or don't "look" like your usual shoppers. We came to shop, not to be profiled or harassed. I will not be returning, and I wouldn't recommend this store to anyone who values basic respect.

She is on the phone. "Hi, may I take a quick picture?"…read moreI asked politely. The lady responded, "no photo, goodbye." While this short poem pretty much sums up my 30-second visit at Oriental Boutique, it is also an acrostic that describes the lady's attitude and the service. I was looking for a traditional Chinese dress (i.e. Qi Pao) for my girlfriend, whom I am going to marry. However, most of the designs cater to kids or tourists (that might explain why most positive reviews were written by non-Asian customers... just saying!) and very few of them are for adults. As someone who grew up in an ethnically Chinese background, I had seen and worn more culturally authentic and better designed traditional gowns and dresses. Many designs displayed in the store seem "oriental" in a western sense or as in what westerners think "oriental" should look like, but this is just my subjective observation and honest opinion. The lady was on the phone all the time, and when I asked her question, she literally answered, "no photo, goodbye." Okay. BYE. NEVER AGAIN! Wish I could have given a zero or a negative number.
