All dresses are meant to just be pulled over your body and hug your curves. No zippers or buttons. The studio itself is gorgeous. If anything its worth making the appointment just to be in the studio. I absolutely LOVED everything about my experience with Grace Loves Lace. A week or so before my appointment, my stylist (Angela) reached out to me to get a feel for myself, my vision, and what I may want to try on. When I went to the showroom with my MIL and Maid of Honor, it was a lovely experience. She greeted us with champagne, she had my dress choices hanging up, and I felt right at ease. Angela was kind and patient, even helping me back into a dress when I was trying to make a decision. She was understanding when I needed to go home and look at budget, and she touched base with me when I asked! Another thing I love about the brand is that they have the dresses in store in the actual size you will order. I had a great time trying on dresses at Grace Loves Lace in Chicago. Hannah was super attentive and encouraging. She made sure everyone felt included in the appointment while still focusing on my needs. However, of all the places I've been so far, these dresses didn't feel as high quality and felt a bit more mass produced. For me, the biggest issue was that the dresses are not suited for a larger bust. Many of the dresses don't have any support and have sparse coverage up top. There also wasn't much support or shaping through the stomach, hips, or thighs. On me, I felt most of the dresses weren't flattering. I would advise that all Chicago brides stay away from Grace Loves Lace. My sister in law bought her dream dress here and went through with alterations from the same location. Six weeks before her wedding at one of her final try ons, she shows up to a dress that is cut an entire foot+ too short, hitting her at mid calf length when the dress was supposed to be full length with a beautiful train. The dress was absolutely destroyed with 6 weeks left to find a new one. Grace Loves Lace did very little to rectify the situation, and gave major pushback on getting her money refunded. They would not offer a replacement dress and said they could try to fix it, with no guarantee it would be done on time or be able to work. While she did get her money back, she was left with 6 weeks to find a wedding dress and get it altered before her wedding day (from a different boutique of course). Ultimately, it was such a stressful situation that I hope future brides can avoid! read more

Lovely showroom and beautiful gowns! Although I didn't end up buying my wedding dress from GLL, I enjoyed my experience there. The entrance is on Peoria St, and up the stairs/elevator. The showroom is beautiful and carries amazing jewelry and accessories to match the gowns. The gowns are the most comfortable wedding gowns I've tried on to date. I love the no-zippers and stretchiness of all of the gowns, and was able to do lunges and squats while in the gowns! The quality of the dresses is apparent in both photos and in person. Cynthia not only argued with us about how dresses were fitting she continued to mentioned that other dress places had "more of our style" and were cheaper. I knew from the start of my wedding gown search that I wanted to find a dress that I felt like myself wearing - not like a costume. I arrived at Grace Loves Lace knowing that they are a women-owned company that specializes in lace gowns, and dresses that have more intelligently natural structuring - as opposed to stiff boning and poofed up tulle. I was delighted to meet Amy, my stylist. She was incredibly warm and friendly, and answered candidly all of my questions about the make, lace, and fit of the dresses. I loved that Amy took my measurements before we even got started, and that made me feel like both of our time was being valued. She never rushed me, and she let me take a few pauses to experience the feel of the dresses by walking around the room. I simply LOVE that none of the dresses have zippers, and feel so natural! In the production process, the dress is made to fit your form, and so you don't have to worry about any weird, stiff materials. I found a dress that I absolutely LOVED and could see myself wearing at our wedding - it was so dramatic, the lace was incredibly unique, and it felt like I could cozy up to my fiance in it, without feeling a single tinge of discomfort. That says a LOT, especially when the other stores I visited scrambled to tell me how I could modify an existing dress to make it work - which basically felt like a plastic surgery approach. And the space where Grace Loves Lace is... is absolutely breathtaking. It is the 2nd story of a converted warehouse space in the West Loop. Thoughtful layout, clean and modern, and a combination of white painted and exposed brick. I walked in and was instantly in love with the thoughtfulness of the interior design. They also featured these SUPER CUTE white tennis shoes on their display table - perfect for the after party! I feel like they already knew my plans! I had the worst experience looking for a wedding dress here. Our stylist was incredibly rude about weight, telling us her own sizes and reading out the bride's measurements to the entire group. She tried to pin me against my mom and sisters by suggesting they weren't giving good opinions. She kept telling stories about how other brides ruined their dresses by gaining weight. She talked far too much and we only had time to try on 3 gowns because she wouldn't stop talking. I left there almost crying because of how bad it was. Searching for my wedding gown was surprisingly not one of the things I was looking forward to the most while planning my wedding. As someone who has a petite body type, finding dresses that fit properly is a struggle in general! I had come across GLL's Hart gown online, but was disappointed at the time that they only had showrooms in a couple of cities in the US and Australia. I had seriously considered planning a trip to Dallas just to try on this dress! Luckily, about 3 months after we got engaged GLL opened up a showroom in Chicago. I thought it had to be fate, and scheduled an appointment right away. My sister attended my appointment with me and Monica was my stylist. Let me just start by saying that Monica is one of the sweetest and most down to earth people I have ever met and she made my experience totally stress free and relieved any anxieties I had going into the process. I was one of her last appointments for the day, but she was so patient with me and still managed to make me feel like a queen. Monica pulled the number of gowns that I had requested and explained every detail of each of them while helping me in and out of them. Although they were all beautiful, I ended up loving the dress I had went there for in the first place. Monica took very specific measurements of me at the end of my appointment in order to have the dress customized to fit me perfectly, which is a huge perk and selling point for people like me with less common body types. After my appointment, Monica gave me plenty of time that I needed in order to get the finances in order and be 100% confident in my decision. She never rushed or pressured me into anything, and was always available immediately with any questions I had along the process. I wanted to try the dress on one more time, but unfortunately my second appointment had to be rescheduled and then cancelled all together because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Regardless, Monica was able to place my order over the phone very easily, and I felt totally comfortable doing so having only tried the dress on the one time because of how confident I felt with the overall experience and the obvious quality/beauty of the dresses at GLL. I had an absolutely amazing experience. Amy took my measurements and had 6 dresses prepared for me upon request before I even walked in so we didn't waste any time. It's not easy for everyone to get butt naked and wiggle Into dresses, but I felt totally comfortable with no pressure at all. I was able to fly in from Atlanta to visit the GLL store in March and wow was I impressed! It lived up to everything that I was expecting it to be. I have always loved looking at all of the dresses from GLL and the styles that they offer, but it was even better in person. The dresses were made with such great quality along with comfort. Once I arrived at the showroom Amy was very welcoming, offering me and my guest something to drink. The atmosphere was so calm, laid back and Amy was very attentive to me and my guest. Once i started trying on the dresses I knew this was my kind of place, the dresses literally felt so fitting and natural, I just knew I was going to find my dress here. Once I decided on a dress Amy was not pushy AT ALL, she actually told me to take my time on making sure this is the one i wanted and said if I want to go home and think about it she has all my measurements and I can call her if and when I'm ready to go ahead with it. That alone was so special to me. I did end up purchasing the dress in the showroom. Before visiting GLL I went to other bridal stores and they were so pushy, they basically wanted me in and out with a dress purchased.. GLL offered a completely different experience. I have not received mine in the mail yet but my experience with Grace Loves Lace throughout my whole wedding planning journey has been absolutely amazing. These are the dresses you have probably seen all over Pinterest. That's how I first found out about it. Then I went to the Chicago showroom the first day it opened and despite it being their first day of operation, everything looked GORGEOUS. Beautiful setup (exposed white brick), very simple and not overwhelming at all (which I love) and amazing customer service. The vibe was so calm and relaxed there. Started my day with a glass of champagne and the rest was a breeze. The whole dress-picking process was so stress free at this showroom. Gina helped me and it took only an hour to find my dream dress. I love that their options are not overwhelming, but definitely enough styles for every taste and body type. Gina took 13 measurements so that my gown is custom-made from Australia and it will be shipped straight to my doorstep about 2 months before my wedding. I purchased the Hart gown with the Gabriella veil. Gina has been great staying in touch with me and is so talented at picking out what she knows I will like and will match my personality and my vision for the wedding day. GLL also has many accessories you can buy. Only thing I would say is if you want to try dresses on, pick a location and make an appointment quick because if you want a custom-made gown, it takes a while to produce.
