We love Merryhill. Our daughter and us never had a bad experience. The staff here are friendly and supportive. My daughter had Ms. Kat and Ms. Sandy the first year and she loves them both. I will 100% recommend Merryhill to anyone I know searching for a private school. In the beginning I was hesitant on starting my little one in school, but after the tour, getting any and every question answered, and then after one week of going he was showing his excitement the moment we pulled in the parking lot. That to me tells me I made the right decision. We've absolutely loved our time at Merryhill Laguna! My daughter had a very tough time at the start of the school year, but all the staff were so supportive at drop off & had great communication through the school's app. I really like how the app makes it easy to message the school, receive pictures of your child, read the daily report on what they are doing (learning, eating, reading etc) & access the newsletters/updates. So much love for Ms Sara as our intermediate teacher (among others that are no longer at the school)! The start of this school year was a breeze, in comparison to last year, which I think is a true testament to how Merryhill Laguna creates a safe & fun environment for children to grow. My daughter is so resilient & begs to get dropped off to school early because she can't wait to go play with her friends. We love Ms Nimfa & Ms Kyrin as our pre-k teachers! I can tell they will prepare their students well for kindergarten & I am so glad we decided to do one more year at Merryhill instead of TK at our neighborhood public school. Principal Kathleen is very approachable & responsive to any concerns I've had. The school is diverse in the student & staff population, which was important for our family. Also, they go above & beyond to put on events for parents to attend with their children (Fiesta, grandparents day, mother's & Father's Day, Thanksgiving cultural feast, breast cancer walk, trunk or treat etc.). Merryhill has been absolutely wonderful for our family. Both of my children have attended the school, and both of them love the school and their teachers. In the almost two years that we've been sending our kids there, we've loved the professionalism and communication from the teachers and the school. We love receiving photos of the kids throughout the day, and we receive regular progress reports on how our kids are doing. From a safety standpoint, I appreciate how proactive Merryhill has been. One of my children has a peanut allergy, and they keep his epi-pen in his classroom with his picture and an icon of what he's allergic to eating. Another part of why we like Merryhill so much is the staff. The teachers and administrators are EXCELLENT. We've had nothing but positive experiences, and my oldest who now goes to another school for kindergarten still runs in and hugs her teacher when we pick up my youngest. On the note of my oldest, she was very prepared for kindergarten. She graduated from Merryhill knowing her letters (almost all upper and lower case) and she was great at counting all the way up to 30 (recognizing many of the numbers as well). I have been with Merryhill since 2021 when my oldest started at 3 and my youngest was 7 months old. I have loved the education and experiences both my kids have gained so much that my oldest now attends Merryhill Elementary! The admin staff and teachers know who we are as parents and seem to genuinely care about my kids. There has been some turnover which I think is expected in the current job culture regardless of what field you are in. The staff do a great job of notifying parents as much and as quickly as possible if changes are going to happen. The overall communication between staff and parents is beyond expectation. Having older kids who went to a different preschool when we first moved to Elk Grove, it is easy to say Merryhill is MUCH better and absolutely worth the money compared to other options out there. We are beyond grateful for the time, energy and effort all staff, from the kitchen staff to the principal, put into helping prepare my kids for their academic future. read more

I've had three children attend this school and I highly recommend them. The administration is action forward and quick to respond to concerns. The teachers are so Loving to my children. As a working parent I always feared missing my children's milestones and the teachers were always conscious to make me feel as if I experienced them first, although I knew my child took their first steps with them. I can't say enough kind things about the staff and the attentiveness to our kids. Most importantly my children loved to go to school and learn. They set them up for success to move on to be honor roll students in the egusd school system. This school leaves rotting food in my kids cubby for months and then calls me out for noticing it by saying how dare I look in the cubby. Then I later noticed they were repeatedly sending dirty diapers and soiled sanitary gloves home with my babies items. Surprisingly they never take responsibility for any misstep. Another day I came to pick up my kids and saw my sons mouth bleeding after another kid punched him in the mouth. Because time passed and my son continued to sob and no one was helping my child I asked the daycare person to interject. Keep in mind we are not allowed to go in to interject. Instead of apologizing again it was my fault for addressing the situation and asking for help. They are crazy and seem to lack a moral compass of taking responsibility. Another time I came in and told the principle the name of a child that was beating up my son and the principal denied there was any kid with that name .. I literally walked over to the room to ask the daycare worker if there was a kid in the class of that name. She said yes. Again the principal deflects and again of course no apologies. I was paying 1100 a week and this the is the lazy and disrespectful care they provide. All I wanted was for them to take responsibility and acknowledge when there is a mistake. My kids love their friends there generally so there is a low chance I would ever pull them out. But definitely be vigilant for there management if you se D your kids there. read more

We have had our infant son enrolled at Merryhill for just a few months, but what I can say is that it has been a very positive environment for him. The teachers are very caring and we can feel their genuine excitement to be caring for our baby, as well as their genuine concern if anything doesn't seem right with our baby. Merryhill also has a stimulating learning curriculum and imaginative play -- when our son played dress up for the first time you should have seen the smile on his face! The school also uses an app that communicates to parents what your child is eating, diaper changes, sleep, and pictures that document and keep you informed throughout the day. I've been meaning to post a good review on here for a while now. I am so happy we were able to get our 2 & 3 year old in Merryhill Laguna Park! They have learned so much since attending and the staff cares for my kids exceptionally well.....But this review is especially needed because of the events that occurred yesterday. I was in a car accident which totaled my car yesterday. I was standing on the freeway with no car and no car seats! I called Merryhill in tears because I was so worried about how I was going to get my kids in time. Not only did they assure me that they would stay there with them until I could arrive, I have a special place in my heart for Ms. Davies, Ms. Kathleen, and Ms. bailey. I was able to get a ride from highway patrol to daycare and they coordinated to find Ms. Bailey who had two car seat seats and was able to drive me home with my kids. They went over above to make sure we were all home and safe. It really does take a village and yesterday they were mine. read more

Last night, my husband and I visited our granddaughter's Merryhill Preschool Laguna Boulevard's first Halloween Bash. As former preschool owners ourselves, we could only marvel at the decorations and imagine the effort put in by the staff for the children's enjoyment. The parking lot featured a food truck and numerous Trick or Treat booths for the children. The playground featured a photo booth, a haunted house, a 6 foot Ursula blow up, a Halloween haunted house, a Halloween theme movie playing on a large outdoor screen, a DJ dance party, raffle prizes and snack table. Indoor classrooms had cotton candy and popcorn machines and lots of arts and crafts activities. It seemed that every family showed up dressed in their funniest, cute costumes. Mid party there was a costume contest and the administrators were good sports in a Pie in the Face booth. Our granddaughter was thrilled and we are so happy that she has made so many new friends and lifetime memories. I have never seen such a charming, sweet event. The entire staff was welcoming and obviously having as much fun as their young charges. Ms. McKenzie and her staff should be commended. And to think that this was on Tuesday...and they still had 3 days before the weekend! ​ read more

After a tireless search in the surrounding area for daycare we were ecstatic we discovered Merryhill. It's nearby and has been a fantastic for for our toddler. We found the preschool to be clean, pretty well maintained, organized, and to have excellent administration and staff. Our daughter had never been in daycare and the transition was rough in the beginning but that was no fault of their's. They helped encourage and support us as did some of the fellow parents that have experienced similar growing pains. Our daughter now looks forward to going to "school" and loves her bond with her fellow students and teachers. My only gripe is the registration process seems to be a little flawed. We were on the waiting list for a year and everytime I inquired about our status it never appeared to be moving in the right direction. You have to place a non refundable deposit and one time I inquired about our status the former principal stated we had moved down because we hadn't called to follow up. This was never mentioned to us and seemed strange. That aside we couldn't be happier with our decision to place our little one here. She's come out of her shell and her personality is really beginning to shine. We look forward to her continued growth and development here. read more

first off working here at merryhill was very stressful not because the kids. The kids are amazing and I love and miss the kids over at merryhill. However it is the main lady that works their getting in trouble for others mistakes is not okay to do. They are too strict and expect the workers to work until they drop. I have had both of my children in this preschool. The curriculum is by far the best for preschool. They don't only do art projects. They practice writing letters, numbers and their name. They also learn sight words. Additionally, the Director and the rest of the administrative team are very professional and plan many activities for the kids. My daughter got amazing care and attention in her younger classrooms. She is a toddler now and in a new class. Suddenly an occasional biting incident has blossomed into several. I've walked in to the class to find another child coloring in marker all over her. I'm now worried again for her safety in a huge classrooms with 2y/o olds running a muck. They advertised that the ratios were much better than in I others . The ratios do mean a thing if the teachers are aware of all the kids. I love the curriculum. However, now I'm concerned again for basic safety. If this is isn't resolved I will be forced to move my angel again and pray she is in a safe place, free of getting bitten. Update: after a serious heart to heart with the principal they have made significant changes in that classroom for the better. My daughter and others are no longer being bitten! After writing my second negative review of daycares in Folsom, I am reminded of the long overdue one for Merryhill. The principal Lisa and vice principal Linda (now retired) run this school so well. The teacher seem happy, the class rooms are well staffed, and the children are happy and learning. The daily updates and photos were also a nice touch. Drop offs were easy because the front desk knows each child by name and cared about each child. There is also great communication between the teachers and other staff. If anything was amiss or not up to standard, Lisa would be the one to catch it. Just sad we moved to Folsom and had to leave this school. read more

We started at Merryhill with our oldest son 15 years ago. We sent three more children there, including my youngest who is now in 1st grade. I have referred all of my friends to them. Miss Lisa is an amazing principal with an amazing staff. Merryhill gave my kids a great start to their education. Not only did they learn the basics, but they made friends, learned how to interact with others, and still ask to go back to Merryhill and visit to this day! We love Merryhill. I don't even know if I can put into words how amazing this place is! The only reason we left was because we moved out of state. It's been a few months now and my daughter still talks about her teachers Miss Karen and Miss Tika (Beginners classroom, for 2-year olds). Miss Ashley and Miss Terry at the front were always so responsive and helpful, and the principal Miss Karina is very knowledgeable. I've never seen such a well-run school: clean, great curriculum, and every single teacher was great with the kids. They're kind and funny and always seem happy to be there. They genuinely care. My daughter just soared in terms of vocabulary and social skills, and my son never wanted to leave. His transition from the Infant Room to the Toddler Room was so smooth. When we were looking for a preschool for our first born, 5 years ago, my husband and I were so impressed with the level of professionalism from the the principal and her staff. The education and love each teacher provides makes us feel like we're part of the family and it was challenging to find a new school when my son started kindergarten this year that met, or exceeded, the same level of education and care at Merryhill Laguna. Merryhill curriculum might be the same for each school, but it's the teachers at THIS Merryhill that really make this school special and that's why we enrolled our second child last year knowing she would get the same education and love as her brother did before her. This is long, but I am very passionate about this school! In my opinion, this school is the best preschool in Elk Grove. I sent my daughter here from the age 1 to 5. Five years later, we choose to send my son send my son here. I say "choose" because we have moved and are now having to take each of my children in two different directions each morning, but I wouldn't have it any other way as I trust this school and the well being of my child here. Curriculum: One of the best around! My daughter was way beyond ready before starting kindergarten. My son, he's already learning so much! I do wish Spanish and maybe even Sign Language was made more of an effort - but that's just a personal desire. Spanish is taught, but not at a conversational level - I feel they could incorporate songs or instructions just to give the kids a head start. I know if you ask, some of the teachers will speak conversationally to your child. Teachers & Staff: There is not one teacher here who is not warm and caring and doesn't have anything but the best interest for your child in mind. Unlike another comment, the teachers and staff will talk to you, but remember, their first responsibility is your child and other people's children. If you have a question, or just wonder how the day is, stick around, talk to them - believe me, they are more than willing to talk to you! This goes for the Principal (Lisa) and Vice Principal (Linda) as well. If I have ever had a concern, either one of them are willing to talk to me and work through any issues or concerns I might have as a parent. On the flip side, they should know how much I appreciate them and all of the staff for making us all a part of a family since 2009. I trust the staff to take my children each day, care for him/her as if they were their own, teach them when I am away at work, hug them when they get hurt, discipline them if they are acting out and praise them when they are doing well. Financial: The rates at this school are very competitive with any preschool in Elk Grove. Yes, there is a registration fee and an activity fee. Registration and fees are required at most preschools. Yes, the school has fundraisers. Fundraisers are what helps the school get the items the school needs to help educate your child (paper, paints, cots for the kids to sleep on, etc.). They also help with all the "extras" this school puts on, like Saturday Play Day, Music nights, Picnic nights, and so much more! (I don't know of any other preschool that does this!) Participation is completely optional - You are not required to participate in any of them. As far as the cost for tuition, think of it this way, I pay $279.00 a week, my child is there for a minimum of 40 hours a week as both my husband and I work full time, that means I'm paying roughly $7.00 per hour for my child to get an early education, full time care, a morning and afternoon snack and a very healthy hot lunch every day! Wait until your child gets into elementary school and you see the school supply list you HAVE to provide! I'm very sad to see some negative comments here, as it's just not the case. However, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. The fact that I believe this school is amazing is my opinion. We have met such amazing families through this school - all who are out for the best interest of their child. My daughter, now in 3rd grade, and us as parents, have all remained such good friends with other parents of this school. The teachers all continue to welcome her back with hugs and love every time she comes in with me (which shows you the same teachers are still there from 5 years ago!). I will agree with the comment on the biting, and I completely understand where she is coming from as we went through the same thing with my daughter, daily! My son too has gotten bit lately. However, and unfortunately, he has also done some of the biting! As a very concerned parent, we are doing everything in our power to teach our son that biting is not ok. Believe me, I am horrified when we are on the "biter" end of things!! No parent ever wants to know that their child is causing pain to another child. Again, in my opinion, I feel the school is also doing a very good job at working with us regarding the biting issues. The two year old room is hardest room to get through. With every preschool, the ratio of teacher to students go up, kids have begun to identify their wants, but haven't yet learned how to fully express themselves in a kind way, they are going to push boundaries - with other kids and with the teachers, and then throw in potty training to the mix! There's a lot going on in there!! No school will ever be perfect, but I am not the perfect parent either - believe me, I try!! There is good and bad in everything - we all have good days and bad days. For me, when I can't be there because I'm working, I choose Merryhill Laguna to be the daily role model and caregiver. The receptionist stated there is a waiting list and I need to pay $165 in order to be added I then asked how long is the list and when can I expect to be called to which she answered I don't know ... So I told her I can pay the deposit and wait for a year and still be on the waiting list she stated yes really ???? I like the school overall- but the Principle, Lisa, could use some lessons in communication. I have had numerous run ins with her and each time I leave more frustrated than the time before. At this point, and unless it's super important - I just avoid her. She is terribly condescending, dismissive and arrogant. I don't need an Administrator telling me how to parent when I have a concern about another student. I keep my kid there however cause I think the teachers do a pretty good job and my kid is learning a lot. Their curriculum is good and I appreciate their approach to education. Saying that, they have wayyy too much turn over. I feel like the good ol' days when the teachers had a 5+ tenure are over. There are so many new people, I don't even bother to learn their names at this point. They just get replaced by someone else - so what's the point? I know quite a few parents have been pulling their kids recently as well - which is concerning. Miss Debbie in Pre-K2 is terrible. I couldn't image a teacher being less nurturing to a child. She is also dismissive of parental concerns and has 10 excuses for every situation. Getting a straight answer from her is like pulling teeth. If they try to place my kid with her when they get to that age, we will likely go to a different childcare. read more

I absolutely love this school! I went back to work after 16 months home with my 2nd child. My 4 year old son was attending a school that closed so we were forced to look at other schools for both kids. I am so glad I found Laguna Park Merryhill. The principal is very warm & welcoming. I believe her happy and caring style is evident in the teachers as well. It is obvious that all the teachers here really love what they do. My 16 month old was placed in the toddler room with 3 of the most patient, kind, caring teachers I have ever met. They were always interacting with the kids every time I came to pick up my son. They were so patient, loving and caring with him that I knew he was being well taken care of when I could not be there. My now 5 year old is in the Pre K2 class. His 2 teachers always had the kids doing fun activities. My son comes home everyday telling us something new he learned at school. Their style of teaching makes it fun for kids to learn. We recently decided to move towns which crushed me only because my kids could not attend this school anymore. I feel so attached to this school because they really are the best! read more

We looked at several pre-schools in the Elk Grove area and after doing tours at all of them, we decided on Merryhill Laguna. The kids were well behaved and listening to their teachers. Being the first time in a school setting, our daughter was a little shy, but by the time she finished pre-school she was fully ready for kindergarten, both educationally and socially. When it came time for her evaluation with her new kindergarten teacher, she was able to answer all the questions with confidence. My daughter left another center for Merryhill when there was finally a spot open! 2 yrs later . But , it's worth it!! Was recommended by another friend I knew that had such a lovely, intelligent lil guy! I have to admit the price is steep compared to the other place. It's $297 a week plus activity fee of $65 which is ok if there's results! My daughter goes 5 days. Instantly I saw a difference in my daughter. She was learning and talking instantly compared to the other center she was at. She was happy to go vs not wanting to go compared to the other center. Was reading a few reviews , my daughter has been bitten twice! I do worry, but was told that's normal . Only thing is they have the links 2 home, which is super awesome! Parents get to see notes, daily reports and get pics of child's day. I imagine it was throughout the day but I don't get it till end of the day which is fine . But , it's been lately that I haven't gotten pics. It has happened b4 but this month twice! Makes me sad when I can't see her playing or doing activities.
