    Jalisco Steak Taco

Chorizo con Nopales ($4.50) - All their tacos were so unique and utilized fresh ingredients, but this one stood out! The chorizo was so flavorful the nopales went so well with it. Steak Jalisco ($4.50) - You can't go wrong with steak and I appreciated how this came with veggies, beans, and rice! This would've made a good burrito. Chicken Mole Verde ($4.50) - I don't usually get chicken tacos but I highly recommend this one! It was bursting with flavor and I love pepitas.

I stopped by on a Friday around 11:30 AM right as they were opening. I was the only one in line at first, but within a few minutes of ordering, a handful of other people came in. The space inside is pretty small, with only a few tables, but there's some outdoor seating if you want a little more room. I ordered the: *Steak Colorado Taco *Steak Jalisco Taco Both were excellent. The flavors really stood out and felt different from your typical taco spot. The meat was cooked well and had a great taste on its own. They offer a couple of sauces to add on top. I went with the orange one, which they said was medium, but it didn't have much heat, which was perfect. It still added a nice flavor though. The food came out in about 10 minutes. It's a casual setup where you pick up your order at the counter and bus your own table. You can pick between a variety of different meats, including steak, chicken, vegetable, etc. You can then decide whether to make it a taco, a burrito, or a quesadilla. Overall, great service, unique menu items, awesome prices, and really solid flavor. Definitely worth checking out.

Great service! Nice and helpful staff Small restaurant, with about 3-4 tables Great music setting for the right vibe Lots of guisados offerings from moles, to chicken tinga, to chicharrón, carnes, nopales, vegeterain options. Basically something for everyone. Yummy tortillas. Good Jamaica. I loved the green Chile with chicharrón tacos. I didn't care for the carne en su jugo- the flavors were- absolutely there but it was diced into little cubes. It didn't mesh well with the other wonderful flavors in the taco. So the carne was subpar. Definitely looking forward to visiting again and trying their chicken options.

Delicious slow cooked guisados! You can order them as tacos or burritos, but the burritos are pretty small for the price. They serve beef, fish, chicken, vegetarian, vegan, lamb. My parents & I got a variety to share & I loved how each one was flavorful & the meats were tender. My favorite was their birria burrito! Small restaurant with just a couple of tables inside & out. Located on Escondido Blvd. Street parking only, which can be tough.

I am glad that the algorithm wizards brought this place up on my feed a month ago. I sent it to family and when it was time to find a restaurant, this place popped up. If you're looking for a simple set up with amazing flavors then I present Mesa Agricola. So this place is great to order take out or if you can chance with the limited seating, as they are small. Three small tables inside. They have some outdoor seats and outdoor standing tables. Great for pairs of people who aren't necessarily trying for a full dining experience. It worked well when I went with my family, but I want to make sure you know that before. Also, they close at 6. My family likes to eat earlier then that so it wasn't a problem. Parked behind the building in their off street lot and walked around. When you walk in there they have their menu outlined on little chalk boards to your right. It's simple, tacos or burritos. That said, they were really great at walking new customers their their menu and explaining what goes into it. I ordered four tacos, chorizo, mole turkey, steak Jalisco and barbacoa. I really enjoyed each of the tacos. The flavors were fantastic. They had three kinds of hot sauce out and the sous chef came out and asked if we liked spicy and brought us a behind the counter hotter hot sauce. After we ate we had a good conversation with the sous chef about the restaurant and the menu. Eight of the dishes are staples and the sub out four. Tomorrow they are making a verde mole, which I'll unfortunately miss trying. I will be back here to try more of the menu. This is not a taco shop, even though they sell tacos and burritos. The options are more focused and change based on the chef and sous chef. I want this place to do well, because it's delicious food and you won't get this kind of quality across the board from anywhere else in Escondido.

My friend brought me these tacos (and burrito) down from Escondido and everything was delicious. Loved the assortment of different salsas and thoroughly enjoyed this food. Everything was tasty.

Stopped in again and managed to snag a table this time for indoor seating. Super happy with the vegan/vegetarian options, glad to see there's more variety. I had the tunas agua fresca which was super fresh (made minutes before coming to the table) and delicious. Parking is limited, so try the block behind in the residential area, and walk just up the block. Now that I've tried several veggie options I think next time I'll go for a burrito.

Super cozy, cute, warm, and authentic taco shop in esco! The staff are very helpful and kind. I liked that you can only get a taco or burrito, but you can choose from the many filling options. If you don't know already, they stand out because they are a farm to table shop! Taco flavors: I fear this did not taste incredibly different from many tacos I've had. However, I think it did taste very clean and healthy. It did not weigh down on me like most greasy tacos I've had. Chilate: I've never seen this drink on menus so I gave it a try and it was sooooo up my alley. Super yumm!! highly recommend Service: As mentioned service was really great, and you can feel the staff's joy and pride in their store. Unfortunately for me, after 40 minutes of waiting I went to check on my order and we found out that they had lost my order ticket :( They were really apologetic and got the order out right away but of course that did affect my experience.

Went here for a quick lunch during the week. It was a bit hard to find, as the sign on the door is not very apparent from the street and there are a lot of different businesses in this little strip. There is a small lot in the back that is shared by the businesses and free to park, or street parking on the side or front of the business. The food was pretty straightforward, the owner was very nice and explained to us about all of the different options and how you could choose a taco or burrito. We went with the taco options and tried a few different ones. They don't really have side items, the rice or beans go inside the taco or burrito. Tacos come on corn tortillas and the burritos come in flour tortillas. The birria taco was pretty good, the meat was just the right consistency and not mushy or fatty. They piled the meat on pretty high. I loved the green shrimp tackle the best, I would order this again. I did not have a strong flavor that was good. The Barbacoa was my least favorite, it had some different spices in it that I just didn't care for inside of a taco. It has chickpeas in it which I do like. I don't know if it's because we came so early in the day, but I do have to mention that the food was lukewarm at best. I am a person that likes my food service very hot so this kind of put me off a little bit. I did mention it to them and they replace one of the tacos. You try to go back at a later time of the day to see if there is a difference in the temperature. They serve the food Chipotle Style, where the meat is Heating in the bins. It's possible they try to keep the fire turned on low so it doesn't dry out, but I do think it might be better if they turned up the fire just a bit. The place is very busy, and there is not much seating, maybe about three small tables inside and a few small tables outside. There is not much Standing Room inside once you order, so I can get a little crowded. The food did taste very fresh, and so did the drinks that they make in house. They have a watermelon one that I liked as it was not too sweet. They also have a pineapple one that's got a little bit of spice to it which I did not try. Overall I say it's worth it to check it out, and try a few different items, they have vegetarian and vegan options as well.

I love farm to table restaurants, and Mesa Agricola is small but mighty! We ate here today for lunch and we will definitely be back. I really enjoyed their meat and fish offerings, and I'm I am so excited about their vegetarian and vegan dishes as well. The accompanying salsas and sauces hit the mark too. The staff were so friendly and knowledgeable. They really took the time with us and explained everything in detail. The watermelon agua frescas and the fermented pineapple drink were so refreshing and flavorful. I must admit I'm going to be a little obsessed with their spiced iced coffees for the rest of the warmer months. The complex flavors and attention to detail is incredible. I am so happy that Mesa Agricola chose Escondido to open their restaurant.

Absolutely phenomenal, wowwwwza. Top-notch guisados with soul, origin, and massive flavor. Chef took his time to explain each offering for the day, and we tried a little bit of everything. Such a rad spot! Whether you're local or not, make the trek. Get ready to have your socks blown clean off with excellent food and a sweet lil ambiance. 13/10

I'm giving this place 3 stars for now because my first experience was genuinely great, but my…read moresecond visit was disappointing enough that I almost rated it 2 stars. The first time I visited a few weeks ago, I had a really positive experience. The location was a little hard for me to find, but once I got there, it seemed worth it. I walked in craving a breakfast burrito and was helped by a very nice, slender gentleman at the counter. I asked for a ham, bacon, and sausage breakfast burrito and also requested that it be cut in half. He was friendly, said no problem, and within minutes I had exactly what I ordered. That burrito was delicious. The salsa station was stocked and convenient with self-serve cups readily available, and the atmosphere was nice. The people around me were friendly, and one gentleman even mentioned this was the place that used to be near Peterson's Donuts. Overall, it was a great first impression and I left happy, already planning to come back. Fast forward to today, Saturday, April 25, 2026 around 10:30 AM, and unfortunately, my second experience was the complete opposite. This time there was a young woman working the register, and from the moment I approached, she didn't seem very welcoming. I told her I wanted to order a breakfast burrito but wasn't sure what kind I wanted today. She told me the only options were bacon, egg, cheese and tater tots, or egg and cheese. I politely asked if I could add ham and sausage and pay extra, since that's what I had ordered before. She immediately responded that they "didn't have that type of breakfast burrito." That response confused me because I had literally ordered one there before. I wasn't going to argue, especially because her tone and attitude made me feel like I was bothering her just by asking questions. I then asked if the burrito could be cut in half and never really got a clear response. I also noticed the salsa station no longer had the little self-serve cups available, so I had to ask for those too. The same cashier asked how many I needed, and I said two. A few minutes later, another woman called my name and handed me the burrito. I sat down and realized it wasn't cut in half like I requested. At that point, I had to go back up and ask for a plastic knife and fork just to cut it myself. Which was not a problem or issue for me. I ate half of the burrito, but honestly, it wasn't nearly as good as the first one. The taste was underwhelming, and by the time I left I was just so disappointed. I ended up throwing the other half away after I left. Consistency matters, especially when the first experience set the bar high. The food was great the first time, but the service and quality were lacking the second time around. My honest opinion: if someone is having a bad day, they probably shouldn't be the first face customers interact with at the register. I may update this review depending on how management responds, because I know this place can do better based on my first visit.
