On Feb 26th 2017, 3 of my buddies and myself set a tee time for 10:37. We arrived early and were told our time was actually 10:45 (no big deal). We teed off around 10:40 with no one in front of us. We noticed there was a group behind us but were in no way even close to slowing them down. We were making great time when the marshall, Dale, approached our group and asked if we could pick up the pace. We figured he was being sarcastic so we smirked it off and obliged. After the 9th hole, we stopped at the clubhouse to grab some food in which we ate on the go. One of the guys in the group behind us stopped at the clubhouse as well. We arrived at the 10th hole and the group behind us arrived shortly after. At that point, we asked if they wanted to play through in which they declined and said they were good to go. We teed off and finished the hole quickly. At this point, we still hadn't held the group behind us up. The marshall, Dale, approached us again right before the 11th and and asked us to speed it up and told us we needed to play "ready golf". No signs were posted that said "ready golf" was required. The group behind us actually drove up to us and made sure that we knew that they were not the ones complaining about our pace and that they felt we were playing up to pace. I can't remember if it was the 15th or 16th hole but Dale, the marshall, visited us again and informed us that we have to skip a hole. Keep in mind, at this point, I turn around to see if we were holding anyone up which we weren't. The group behind us just got done teeing off on the previous hole. I told Dale that we didn't pay for 17 holes. We paid for 18 and that we planned on playing all 18. I also informed him that the group behind us made it a point to let us know that they were not complaining and felt we were keeping up the pace. Dale, the marshall started getting flustered when I was questioning him and ended up telling us that the owner of the course was playing behind the previous group and that he was the one complaining. THE OWNER. The same guy that just got $320 of our groups money was the one complaining. Again, I start asking Dale questions and again he starts getting flustered and actually curses at me. That's when i get heated and exchange words with Dale. I tell him that we'll gladly leave but not without being reimbursed for the 18 holes. I also spent money on a box of balls and some hot dogs which I obviously wasn't trying to be reimbursed for. He tells us to go talk to Shannon. Then he starts questioning what was in my cooler in which I told him was absolutely none of his business. I had water bottles and Gatorade. We arrive at the clubhouse and Shannon, who saw NONE of what just took place, accused us of bringing beer on the course and also accused us of telling her Marshall to "go f*** himself". None of that was said. In fact, we handled Dale in a professional manner until he started throwing curse words at us, We were refunded our money and left. In no way did anyone in our group deserve the treatment we received. We feel were discriminated against due to being the "youngest" on the course that day. I could see this type of treatment if we were acting like some immature kids drinking, cursing, being loud, etc., etc. But, that was not the case. Three people in our group work for a prestigious company in Yuma that is heavily involved in the community and is huge on customer service. Two of us work as upper management for that company. The fourth member of our group is a business owner here in town. It's not like we are four immature kids that are out to cause a scene on a golf course. The treatment was disappointing and unfortunate. We get two weekends off a month and hardly have any other time to ourselves. The little time that our schedules allow are spent golfing. We like to spread business around by playing at the different courses in Yuma. Mesa Del Sol was the favorite for years especially since I am a home owner in the Mesa Del Sol area. We will never set a foot on this course again. I have no issue traveling the extra 15 minutes to Desert Hills, Cocopah, Coyote Wash or even down to Dove Valley. I will bring up this experience anytime golf is brought up and will never recommend this course to anyone ever again. I understand that losing our business is probably no big deal since they cater to the winter visitors but who will be the ones that are golfing in the summer? The locals will be. The only reason I gave this review a 1 star rating is because 0 wasn't an option. read more
