Great unexpected Italian food (we enjoyed the pasta dishes very much) BUT do NOT trust the gluten free pasta! (GF kid was truly sick later.) I am vegan and loved the pasta pomodoro. It was fresh and flavorful and satisfying. My partner had the chicken Jerusalem and seemed pretty blissful. Our other kid enjoyed the manicotti and cheese sticks. If you're ever in Holbrook, this is place to go for dinner. It's a sports bar on one side and an Italian restaurant on the other. You can get the Italian food on the bar side and vice versa. The interior is cinder block and on either side of the restaurant, there are dilapidated buildings but do. It let that fool you. The food is amazing. I had the capellini pomodoro and it was perfection. Hubby had spaghetti and meatballs and enjoyed greatly. Service was friendly and attentive. Highly recommend. Had it not been for an acquaintance telling me about this place, I probably wouldn't have stopped in. This is a sports bar with a restaurant attached to it. You enter in through the bar and off to the left is a non descript door leading you to a find with really good food. Once inside, you'll find 20-25 tables, two hardworking servers and HOT food. When you're warned about the "hot plate" they're not kidding. Service was a little slow, but there are only two servers. Salad was nothing special. Garlic bread could have been toasted more with additional butter and garlic. Main dishes were on point. Lasagna came out hot and tasty. Chicken parmigiana served with spaghetti was steaming hot. Our server Beatrice was an excellent server. One of our favorite family spots to go to. We enjoy the pizza, wings, chicken/salmon picatta, and calamari fra diavolo. Nothing else has caught our attention. I'd say if you're going to have an alcoholic beverage, choose beer or wine. Not a bad spot for Italian and it's a sports bar right next to each other. The restaurant was busy and packed so they sat us in the sports bar area. Music was a tad bit loud but it makes sense for the sports bar. The waiter/bartender was nice and tender to our orders. Sometimes the drinks wouldn't come like the wine a friend ordered but the food came out reasonably. I ordered the lemon salmon piccata and it was fine. What a great spot! This place definitely has more of a sports bar vibe than a restaurant vibe, but the food is delicious nonetheless! Pool tables, sports on TV, locals hanging out, and a really casual scene. But, again, the food is great! I got the fettuccine alfredo. It came with a salad and garlic bread. Our server Dusty was pleasant and quick to our table, throughout the meal. Food was more than what we expected. The Chicken Jerusalem was excellent! Our first time here and it was great!!!Phenomenal food and service! We tried the pasta sampler, clam linguine, and chicken alfredo. Each dish came out hot, fresh, and tasty. We tend to be a little sensitive to too much salt and sugar but this place perfectly seasoned their food. They brewed fresh coffee for us. The bread is soft and warm. Not a lot of dining options in this area other than fast food. This is a sitdown restaurant and was very well populated at a Thursday night. Lots of drink choices. Adequate food selections. I had the veal Parmesan with spaghetti on the side. Spaghetti was wonderful. Veal was very tough. It came with garlic bread and a side salad, which was a great value. Best part of the meal was the tuxedo cake that I had for dessert. Service # was good. Restaurant had an odor of exhaust fumes from vehicles. Review update! On night 10 of my stay, I made my final visit to Mesa. I'd been here on alternating nights for all 10 nights (5 visits). Yes it was that good. Story time: On my last night in town I accidentally left my corporate credit card on the table. I woke up at 4am and immediately knew that I had left the card. A quick check of my wallet confirmed my fear. All of the hassle of what to do next was really getting to me. They don't open until 4pm and I had to leave town at 10am to catch my flight home to Florida from Phoenix. I went for my early morning walk in the six o'clock hour. My walk took me by the restaurant. I noticed a truck in the parking lot (there was hope!) I walked up to the windows but could not see anyone inside. (My hopes were dashed!) I kept on walking down the street wallowing in my sorrows. On my walk back up the street I saw a woman about to get in to the truck. I flagged her down and asked if she worked here. (She did) I told her about my card and she was more than happy to go back in to the restaurant and check. Christina was the epitome of customer service! I got my card back! I doubt my travels will ever bring me back to the area, but if they do I know where I'll be coming! read more

Fantastic Italian dinner! I read about this place on Yelp and boy were we delighted. 11yo ordered the chicken Alfredo fettuccine and it was the standout. Hubs the individual lasagna and me the meatballs linguine. The meatballs were good sized and tender. Pasta and sauce yummy. Service was good. It was packed and the water girl and busser were very efficient. Individual slices of warm baguette with oil and seasoning were tasty. I'd upgrade to the Cesar as the house salad is a little wimpy. I am pleasantly surprised by this place. We were in Holbrook, coming from the White Mountains for the Pat Kenny wrestling tournament. We were craving Italian food and decided to try this spot. We had to go through the lounge bar to reach the restaurant. My husband ordered calamari as an appetizer, and it came out in a spicy red sauce. The calamari was not breaded. It was actually really good alongside the garlic bread they provided. I ordered the grilled salmon, which was also very good, with a light sauce containing capers and lemon, served with spaghetti. My husband had the lasagna; he wished it had more layers of pasta, but overall, it was pretty good. My daughter had the shrimp scampi with linguine and liked it. She also ordered the banana dessert. The banana dessert is questionable to me because it's a little too sweet on my side. Overall, the place is small and cute. It probably needs some remodeling, as it feels a bit outdated. Still, the food is really good, and I would definitely come back again. Four out of five stars. read more

The last thing I expected to find in Holbrook, AZ was a 5* Italian Restaurant. Mesa Italiana offers superb Italian cuisine, excellent service, and a relaxed atmosphere. And they do all this for a very reasonable price. It's the only reason we stay a night in Holbrook on our seasonal migrations between Wisconsin and Arizona. Highly recommended. read more

The food was so delicious. Started with stuffed mushrooms. Served with AWESOME SAUCE garlic/white wine ( I kept it on the table to dip my pizza in!) I ordered the chicken caccatori pizza that was really good. My wife had garlic olive oil pasta and she was swooning. Salad was standard mixed greens. Good but nothing special. I paired the meal with a couple top hop drafts which put it over the top. Service was a little slow, but it was really busy when we came in. Server was super friendly and attentive.
