I came in really not expecting much but left pleasantly surprised. I went on a Tuesday afternoon during their happy hour. It was Taco Tuesday so I got 3 of their tacos. Where some places offer you too little meat, this was the opposite, you can easily make 2 tacos out of one! Their spicy margarita was delicious and I also need to make a special shoutout to their Churro desert, they were soo good! Stopped here during restaurant week! Being gluten free, it was still easy to navigate the shortened menu. Started with the pozole de pollo - yum! Follow by mahi mahi tacos with a side of cactus/mushrooms. The mahi was cooked very well but the tortillas were siting in the juice of the cactus/mushrooms that made them soggy :( As for dessert, delicious GF tres leches cake ! And chocolate mousse! My husband and I love Mesa! The experience, food, cocktails are fabulous! We love that's the outdoor seating allows space enough for private conversations but easy enough for the amazing customer service. Ambiance- got better after we relocated. Every wait person yelled as they approached our table. Something about the kitchen door being a single for both in and out. One wonders, with a 5:00 PM reservation and lots of empty booths, why would they sit us there, of all places. Even after the move it was still loud. Then the drinks took forever. Had lunch at Mesa Latin and boy this was a total hit! Very excited to give the dips and chip a try since we don't have a ton of black bean dip options in Colorado. These were great! Though admittedly the star were the chips in the situation, very fresh and perfect amount of salt. The flautas were super crispy and had great flavor with the toppings and black beans. The Peruvian brick chicken takes 25 minutes but IT WAS WORTH IT! The chicken was so nicely blackened and tasted great. The patatas bravas on the side were so tasty with a nice smoke flavor. Wait staff was very nice and we had someone stopping at our table to check in regularly, not just our waiter. Overall a great option if you're in Littleton! read more

Food is awesome and 90% is GLUTEN free. Even the CHURROS. Service is great as well, haven't found anything we don't like and we've tried most of the menu. The price for the food just wasn't worth it for us. The place looks nice for a date night, but the food was a miss. They are trying to do too much with the tacos, and the flavors are all over the place and super bland. I want a punch of flavor flavor from Latin food! We also got churros for dessert and the first time we ordered, they came out within 30 seconds and were hard and stale like they'd been sitting under a heat lamp. We returned them. The second time they were piping hot fresh from the fryer but still raw in the middle. I'd say it has potential, but I'm not quite sure. It seems quite par for course in Littleton. I was excited to see tlayudas on the menu (although I think they may call them something else) so we might try those instead of tacos. I'm curious to see if other menu items are better considering some of the glowing reviews. read more

The perfect combo of neighborhood Latin Mexican with zero pretension...just friendly, welcoming vibes all around. I'll definitely be back to try more of their menu. What I ordered: Mesa ceviche (with coconut milk!), chicken nachos (stacked!), chile relleno, Spanish risotto and shrimp, tres leches horchata cake, churros. For drinks: mango chamoyada margarita, Jamaica (hibiscus), and a house marg. Best bites: Honestly, everything was fantastic, but a few stood out: * Chicken nachos: PSA! nachos should always be stacked and always have queso (none of that shredded cheese). These hit both marks and were so so so delicious. * Chile relleno: I wasn't a big fan of chile rellenos growing up (my mom loved making them), but these were amazing! I'd totally order them again (sorry, mom!), and they're only $12 on Thursdays! * Spanish risotto and shrimp: I'd never had Spanish risotto, so it was exciting to try something familiar with a different flavor profile. The risotto was great, but the shrimp? Grilled to perfection! * Horchata tres leches cake: It's gluten-free, and I found that out after I ate it because I couldn't tell! We were celebrating our anniversary and decided to try out this new restaurant. It lives where Oregano's Italian restaurant used to be next to Barnes and Noble. From the beginning we were impressed with this place. The decor is clean, minimalistic with tasteful wall murals. Sitting at the bar waiting for a table we met Cat, a very friendly and fun bartender. She got us our drinks and I watched my phone for a text to say our table was ready. They estimated 1/2 hour wait for seating, but it seems like we got seated a lot sooner than that. At the table we met, Pilar, a sweet, friendly and very attentive server. She got us the Salsa Flight while we decided what our main meal would be. All of the salsas were tasty, but I kept coming back to the Smokey Chipotle Salsa which was exceptional. Mesa offers a wide variety of authentic Latin dishes to choose from. (I lived in South America for a while.) As you look through the menu you'll see dishes from Columbia, Peru, Ecuador, Mexico and Spain. We decided on the Barbacoa and Birria Queso Tacos. We also got the Chicken Flautas and a small bowel of rice and beans. It was a great value for the price, but way too much food. We took half of the meal home. The restaurant seating is divided into 4 areas. When you enter, the bar is on your right. There is seating in the bar area. If you head to the left when you pass the host stand, there is the main dining area. To the right of this main dining area is a small divided area and another separate room with louvred walls. Although the restaurant has a lot of hard surfaces to echo the sound of the conversations, it was surprising quiet, even with all the tables filled. If you're looking for a little adventure for your dining experience and you appreciate authentic Latin cuisine, make a point to check this place out and ask for Pilar (Pee-lar). read more

Food: 4.5 stars Some of the meat portions are extremely small especially with their fajitas, but flavors are great. Bar & serving staff-4 stars They are usually pretty strong and attentive. The one bar lady that works there is really strong even when they have a packed bar. The General manager-1 star This guy is rude and just bad. He has absolutely no customer service skills. Kitchen-3 stars They make delicious food, but are extremely slow. It doesn't matter if they are busy or not, 40-60 minutes to get your food after you place your order is not uncommon. My biggest feedback is that they need to have a consistent hostess or someone who is able to provide appropriate wait times as you are going to wait even when you are seated. We continue to go back because of the food, but definitely don't go back as often as we would do to how long it takes to get food as well as due to the manager. read more

New Latin restaurant to SW Denver. There aren't a lot of decent restaurants down here so we were excited to try it out. We had a reservation and were seated promptly. Host was courteous and greeted us immediately. Our server was phenomenal. Very sweet and offered suggestions from things she has tried on the menu so far. Much like their sister restaurant, The Lake House, the food is good but just ok. Nothing amazing or a place I would seek out to frequent. Good for drinks and an app at the bar. We ordered the Mesa Platos, everything was cooked well and we really enjoyed the sauces but the shrimp and the rice could use some seasoning. For $22, not a lot of food. We also ordered the chips & salsa flight, purposely different salsas than what we choose with our entree. Again, all three were good. Drinks were ok. I'm sure I'll try them again sometime due to their proximity but I wasn't wowed. read more

We have been watching Mesa since it opened with curiosity...being big Mexican Food fans..." How is a Latin food joint different or better?"...and Saturday was our night to find out! The parking lot was fuller than usual, so that was a good sign..We entered, and we're promptly seated. The waitress was pleasant and took our drink orders...and answered questions. I ordered a Margherita and my girl ordered a Mojito. The mojito size was ample, but the mint wasn't muddled like we it should have been, and she ended up jabbing it several times with her straw to coax the mint flavor out. The Jamaican Margarita was tasty, but the glass was tiny and not nearly full. NOT a $14.00 drink- worth!....The Tlayudas (Mexican Pizza) was the big winner and we ended up bringing some home. The Paella was bland and lacked the flavor explosion we were looking for. Salt helped, but We didn't finish it, and didn't request a take home box. The final (or first) straw for us was the $10.00 "Salsa Flight"....Maybe they are trying to differentiate themselves from the Mexican Restaurant scene, by charging $10.00 for a fancy chips and Salsa sampler, but we aren't buying it...It doesn't provide a welcoming feel to the relatively unknown Latin food scene. read more
