With it close to home, and the positive reviews, I really was hoping this place was going to be a 5. Maybe it's because we are Texans and want big, bold flavors, but we felt the seasoning was bland. We stopped in here in a whim. My girlfriend and I were hungry and saw this place. We both love Mexican food and new places are always fun to try. We are sure glad we stopped in. The place is small and easy to pass by because it's in a small strip mall style storefront. Most of the business is people taking food to go while I was there. The house red hot sauce has good flavor with just a touch of heat on your gums. The steak tacos were full and tasty but needed a little more onion. It is a small, unassuming restaurant that does a lot of takeout business. Parking is a bit easier left of the entrance next to the car lot. But the menu is solid, and the booths are comfortable if you eat in. The food is great quality and tasty, and the plates are full. Their French toast and pancakes were perfect for my son, who is not a huge fan of Mexican food. They have several Jarritos flavors and sangria grape soda, too. You order and pay, and the food comes out quickly, so showing up hungry shouldn't mean you turn hangry. Oh, Mama Sol! I stopped at this place after receiving a recommendation from a local.....a barista at a nearby Coffee shop stated it was his favorite local joint. Colorado is known for plentiful Mexican joints, so it was no surprise that this place was another one. When I arrived I had no idea where to park. The place was set in a strange street-side strip with to clear parking. I found a place next to the building and headed in. Small shop, kids hanging around the shop and a very young person at the register who waited on me the entry time I was there.....clearly a very family-owned business. Clearly "mom" Or someone was running the kitchen in the back. I ordered a combination platter....basically I was able to choose 3 items as a meal. I chose a chicken taco, bean Gordita, and a burrito. It was served in very little time. It was a lot of food too! The taste was outstanding. This is exactly why I ask for locals recommendations when I'm out of town! Real authentic flavor. Bottom-line. Small simple unassuming family owned Mexican restaurant with reasonable prices and tons of choices. I could see them chopping mounds of fresh ingredients in the back. The dining room is set up for Covid and slightly disheveled but clean. The staff were friendly and polite. I purchased two small chorizo breakfast burritos ; they also had a large size, for $6. They were fresh and full of meat, cheese and egg. The tortilla was soft and fluffy, and the green sauce on the side delicious. This is one of those family owned places I am sure that is struggling. Located right off of South Broadway, there's free parking out front and you can mosey on in from there. The menu appears on a board behind the register, as well as on neon posters stuck all around the walls. It's super no frills and that's what I loved about it! Tacos, tortas, burritos, fajitas... Everything you want from a Mexican spot you can find here. I went with the chili relleno plate that also had beans and rice. Chips and salsa aren't free but we ordered those too. I was with two others and our food all came out super fast. My chili relleno was perfect, as were the rice and beans on the side. I usually never touch the rice on my plate but this kind I could not stop eating! The salsa that came with the chips was very liquidy (is that a word?) rather than chunky, but had a nice kick to it. We were in and out super quick and left stuffed at about 11 bucks each! My brother lives nearby and this is one of his favorite spots and now I understand why. read more

Sooooo good! Really nice Mexican food if you want something like authentic Mexican taqueria food. In a similar ambiance (order at counter and they bring it out.) They don't have free chips and salsa but they do have 99cent tacos so they're not padding the cost at all. Fancier tacos (think al pastor and barbacoa) were just $1.75 Delicious and amazing received beans! Fantastic salsa verde and rice! I judge a restaurant often on if they can make "the basics" yummy and they succeed! Great pork tamale. The pork was cleanly "pulled" and it had a great little mango type salsa on top and a fantastic tamale sauce. Gordita from here is a flat cooked dough stuffed (I think?) with a filling. We got beans and it was great. Thicker than an enchilada but thinner than a tamale. Reminded me of pupusas. The chicken taco was shredded white meat chicken with amazing green salsa on it. Tasted fresh and pleasant. Steak taco was supremely good with cleanly chopped steak and no obvious gristle and fat. We will definitely be returning because although it's out of the way, delicious food and great customer service will bring us back! Also the woman who helped us brought me out a cup and ice for the bottle of soda I bought because she remembered the fridge needs a repair and isn't cooling well! It's almost embarrassing how often I come in to get tacos... So fresh. The hot sauce is is superb and Hot. Even the garnish is super fresh! So many restaurants went downhill after DoorDash. My boyfriend and I found this authentic Mexican restaurant on accident. We were just driving by and we thought it looked like a real Mom and Pop restaurant that always has really great food. It's nothing to look at, they don't have flashy signs and all that fancy stuff to lure you in.The owner cooks in the small kitchen and what looks like a her teenage son works the register, it's definitely a family business. If you want food cooked fresh from a true Mexican lady that was probably taught to cook by her Mom and her Grandmother you need to eat here, the refried beans are definitely not from a can like most of the flashy restaurants, I could have just had the beans and rice and been happy. Seems the management or ownership has changed. What happened to the homemade creamy beans, flavorful rice and omelet like soft chili relleno? The beans are now dry, rice far less flavorful and the relleno is now a soggy breaded mess. The chili has completely changed. It is now like every other Mexican restaurant chili but the better part of the meal. I know the previous chili was not to everyone's liking but it was flavorful. There is now a scope of gauc that comes on the plates. This might have been an upgrade but It had no flavor and several hard, under ripe pieces in it. Excellent value. The tacos, while on a smaller side, are only $.99 - $1.29. I got the steak, ground beef, pastor and (at the recommendation of the cashier) the pork. The pork was my favorite but all were tasty and came with cabbage, cilantro, salsa and limes. A hotter table salsa came in a squeeze bottle on the side, and I found myself using more and more of it as I scarfed my tacos. This seems to be a family operation and everyone was very friendly. Been to this place over a dozen of times in the last 2 years. They USED to be good but things have definitely taken a turn for the worse. Customer service is no existent, everyone behind the counter is always moody and pissed. The location itself has terrible parking and the parking lots has gotten really bad. The food, which used to be flavorful and delicious. It is now bland, flavorless boarder-line inedible. Worst of all their prices have gone through the roof. Mama, without a doubt makes the best pork tamales in Denver metro and loaded with shredded pork with the perfect amount of masa wrapping them. The Chile Rellenos platter, AWESOME!
