The ambiance was fairly calm for a Saturday afternoon and our server Nicholle again was very attentive and friendly. For tapas, we ordered the salsa flight again and were not disappointed. This time, I decided to try the Barbacoa tacos and WOW, the flavors on the meat were absolutely incredible. I like to start every new place with 5 stars and then remove stars as appropriate. So... -1 for how extremely loud it is. I've been to night clubs in Mexico that it was easier to have a conversation in. -1 my friend asked questions about wine. The server asked and friend ordered. Then friend changed mind and wanted a margarita. Server rolled her eyes and sighed loudly. Friend asked if there was a problem and server was irritable and made a comment about "I already added the wine." Friend felt guilty and stayed with wine. -1 None of the food had any salt. I added so much salt it wasn't ever funny and even then, it wasn't seasoned very well. They got "hot" right, but that's not even fun if it tastes like wallpaper glue. So, 2 stars and no real desire to return. There are so many amazing Latin restaurants in the Denver Metro area that I don't have time to waste on a less than awesome on. read more

Don't listen to anything less than a five start review. I'm from El Salvador. Let's be real. You want authentic Latin food, may it be Salvadoran, Mexican, etc, this is where you come. Great new location and nice and clean inside. I sat at the bar during for a late lunch, and the bartender made good cocktails and was very polite. The food was about average though. Birria tacos are all the rage and many Latin restaurants and tacos shops will have them - so you have to make sure they are on point! They need that crispness and richness of the meat. The service was acceptable, but a staff member constantly pacing between tables created an uneasy atmosphere. Our waitress was very friendly, and the manager, though initially making an overconfident remark about the food, adjusted his attitude after I mentioned my experience with high-end cuisine. The restaurant has a touch of stylish and sophisticated ambiance, but the food was disappointing--ranging from bland to outright spoiled. My husband had the shrimp tacos, which he found decent, but my risotto was inedible. When I pointed this out, the manager offered to prepare something else, but I declined. In 25 years of dining in the U.S., I had never encountered spoiled food in a restaurant, regardless of its rating. Hoping to cleanse my palate, I ordered a tres leches cake, which was passable. The restaurant did not charge for the cake or the risotto, but unfortunately, I will not be returning. The only truly outstanding aspect was the live music. The kind of delicious that makes you close your eyes after each bite and say things like "¡Ay, caramba!" out loud in public. Exactly what you want from a great neighborhood Mexican joint. Now... let's talk about the bathroom. I wasn't expecting company during my visit to the men's room, but alas, there I stood, accompanied by Shakira, Salma Hayek, and a couple of other 2000s-era icons, smiling down at me from framed prints in lingerie and bikinis. Tastefully? Questionably. Memorably? Absolutely. There's nothing like locking eyes with 2002 Shakira mid-stream and wondering if you've entered a secret time warp or the set of a Latin pop documentary. The place has been nicely updated since the remodel. It's bright, clean and looks like a finer dining experience. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The food was good. I can see the idea behind trying to elevate Mexican food but truth is, Mexican food is best found in its simplicity. There's nothing you need to do to a taco to make it taste better because if it's simple, you win already. The appetizer was good. It's your typical mexican elote but with a piece of cheese inside that is very soft and runny. The tacos... I can do better with simple flavors, with a little more spice and I don't know, it felt like they were missing something. The steak was good, not chewy but the dish overall was missing flavor. They come two in an order and the rice and beans combo has to be ordered separately. Two tacos for $14 plus the side... a little steep for me. First time here thinking we can check it out for dinner. New restaurant in Littleton west at the corner of Bowles and Wadsworth (southeast corner near Barnes and Noble). The employees were all super nice; and we were greeted immediately upon entering. We chose a high top table in the bar, had happy hour drinks and some food. Mariah was our server; and was knowledgeable about the menu. Any questions she didn't know, she asked and got right back to us! This place is new, just opened a few days prior to our visit. We tried a margarita and a mule on happy hour for $2 off. We decided to do tapas and had a Mahi ceviche with hominy, sweet potato and choice of chips or plantains. This was a nice light dish with large thin slices of fish that fit on the chip (about 2 each). We also had a Mexican pizza with barbacoa and chipotle salsa. This was delicious and very filling! We could not finish it, so we have to come back to try the many other items on the menu! The Mexican pizza is a thin corn tortilla loaded with the meat you choose (or veggies), refried black beans, fresh tomatoes and the salsa that you choose. I recommend the chipotle salsa with barbacoa. They go together very well! We also had a small chocolate mousse, super rich and spicy topped with whipped cream, amazing! I'm glad we didn't skip dessert. Parking is free and plentiful. Decor is really beautiful and I tried to capture some of it in my pictures. It's a nice date place, but you could also bring a family or group of work friends. There are dividers In between areas of the restaurant, a cool bar with one large TV, and a nice high top dining area in the bar with very comfortable seating. read more

Decided to check out this restaurant recently! We were seated promptly for 2 at arrival - it was nice that there was no wait for a weekend evening. Our waitress was also very nice and attentive. The vibe of the restaurant overall is very clean and modern. Also plenty of parking. The only downside was that we did not really enjoy the food. We got the mahi ceviche which was mostly avocado, cucumber, onion, corn and very little fish. The patatas bravas and the tlayuda were also over-salted. Not sure if it was just an off night but overall this place has a lot potential because this area of town definitely needs a good Latin restaurant! read more

I've been wanting to try this restaurant for a while & finally went today. We arrived around 11:15-11:30 am. We sat in the dining room area, not the bar. There were 3-4 other families there, not busy at all. We ordered iced tea & diet coke from a server who was not friendly & did not smile. The hostess who sat us was much friendlier. The staff busing the tables were also friendlier than our server. Took about 15 minutes to get the drinks. Another 10 minutes later, I finally asked another staff member about our $5 chips & salsa that we had ordered. Our server finally brought that out 10 minutes later plus our Peruvian wings, saying sorry but acted "not sorry", you know what I mean? Another 15 minutes later, we got our chicken & steak fajitas. There was a $6 upcharge to add the steak. This consisted of 4-5 little strips of steak that were well done instead of the requested medium well. The corn tortillas were gobbled up immediately and when we asked for more, they finally brought it to us practically at the end of the meal. By this time our server was way more pleasant but we were way over this place. Our experience was disappointing considering how much we love the sister restaurant, Lakehouse Kitchen & Tavern. This is definitely one of the worst Mexican places I've been to in all of Denver. Wouldn't label anything on their menu as "great". The vibe is cool..... This is Spain inspired eats with fresh ingredients and dynamic tastes. There are nightly specials and a bangin' happy hour. The prices are lower than the other restaurants in the area. Our server was one of the best we have experienced in a long time. He was attentive, knowledgeable and fun. I'm usually not a fan of ordering seafood in a land locked state. Mesa Latin Kitchen was really good Latin food (not JUST Mexican food) we had a lot of dishes here! I put stars next to my favorites! Jamaica Margarita , Mango Chamoyada Margarita, Pineapple Bourbon Sour, Mexican Street Corn , Latin Dips and Chips: Colombian Guacamole, black bean dip, Smokey Chipotle salsa, Queso Dip, Barbacoa Burrito ,Birria Quesatacos ,Chicken Enchiladas (a little dry), Shrimp Tlayuda I really did like the flavor of most of the dishes but being Mexican, I was left wanting more SPICY. Their spiciest salsa was the ranchero salsa and it felt like a medium at best. Also the food was all cooked really well, meats were juicy, and nothing was too greasy. The Colombian guacamole was probably my top favorite thing here, it was so creamy! The service was very good, we visited in a Thursday for lunch so it wasn't busy and our food was coming out hot and fast! Definitely has the feel of a more upscale restaurant! It was beautiful! Delicious just over priced! If you're hungry don't step foot in this place if you're budget is 10-$15 dollars or you'll leave with "Culinary Blue Balls" hungry for more. Food is very flavorful but they over charge. Judge for yourself . Despite sampling a variety of menu items, some fell short in comparison, coupled with notably small portion sizes for the price. The Pozole Rojo de Pollo, a dish I eagerly anticipated, lacked the expected flavor, and its portion size was disappointingly petite for a bowl. Our server, Savannah, deserves commendation for executing all the steps of service admirably and attentively receiving our feedback on the food. She assured us that she would convey our comments to the manager and kitchen. Among the items we tried, including the salsa flight, birria quesotacos, carne asada, black beans & rice, aji shrimp tacos, and tres leches, the overall dining experience didn't meet the desired culinary standards. Despite this, the allure of tequila flight deals and happy hour might prompt a return visit, although primarily for these offerings rather than the Latin American cuisine offered. I had decent expectations for Mesa Latin Kitchen, they were building it out for quite some time and when you go in it has a very nice modern atmosphere, but there's where it stops. We ordered three dishes, not a grain of salt on any of them and so bland they demanded salt. One was the potato side dish - how do you not add salt so something that begs so much for it like a potato? I got carnitas tacos that, and this is no exaggeration, EACH poured out 1/4 cup of water off my taco. The tortillas were useless as they were soaked through. We understand that slotted spoons were just invented last month but perhaps it's worth investing in one of those high priced gadgets? The service was fairly awful. Our server, Maya, was totally disinterested in anything and borderline snotty and was not helpful in the least. When I asked if on the two taco plate I could add a third taco her answer was a snotty "no, if you want more then order two plates". Who does this? On what planet is there a kitchen so refined in operation that adding an ala carte taco is this disruptive? What's funny is that these taco's are on the menu as Ala cart to start with! So you don't want an extra $7 for your overpriced runny tacos? Ok. I will try them once or two more times because everyone has a bad day, but if this were my only time I would never return. For bland potatoes and two taco plates of two STREET TACO SIZED tacos each (no sides) for FORTY DOLLARS is asking a lot. That's beyond even Denver's outrageous restaurant prices. Here's the thing, the location they acquired has been a half dozen restaurants in what is a terrible location to access. Two of them were really quite good restaurants and they both failed with good food so I don't see Mesa Latin Kitchen surviving with bland, unsalted food and bad service where Macaroni Grill and Oregano's could not (and both of their parking lots were standing room only on the weekends). Read other reviews that mostly say the same: inconsistent food quality, small portions for a big price, slow service and nice atmosphere. I think this place will be vacant in a years time. It seems that all the good reviews are about the drinks, we had lunch and no drinks so who is to say? Perhaps people are so lit that they don't care about bad food? And remember, flavor + salt + slotted spoons are your friends. read more

We split the dip flight and some queso. The ranchero salsa, salsa verde, guac, and queso were all super good. For my meal, I got birria tacos and esquites - both great. Service was kind and quick. Mesa is on its way to being 5 stars but it's not quite there yet. The chili lime chicken flautas were delicious as a starter and we had a spicy margarita that was perfect! I had the birria qeusotacos which tasted good but they were so small for the price. My husband had the Spanish risotto shrimp. The shrimp had plenty of seasoning, but the risotto was so bland. We had to add a lot of salt to give it flavor. That was disappointing. Then at the end of our meal, the server offered us chips because she could tell we were both still hungry. That was very nice, but if chips were part of our meal, it would've been nice to have them in the beginning, not at the end. For dessert, we had Tres leches, which was also very delicious and flavorful. So there were some hits and some misses during the meal. Otherwise, the service was great from everyone we encountered there. The only other thing I would say is that the bar area where we sat, is extremely bright. If they could dim those lights, the mood in that area would be amazing. we love having a new restaurant option in the neighborhood, but I'm not sure that we are itching to go back anytime soon. read more
