Heard about MoxYcello this morning on Colorado and Company. We stopped in to check it out, and it…read morewas awesome! The liqueuers are stronger and less sweet than most other liqueurs of the same variety, like limoncello in Italy was usually much sweeter than their version. I had an Agave Penicillin- kind of like a top shelf margarita but with their superb ginger-cello. I also tried a straight ginger, which I really, really enjoyed. The owners were great to talk to, and their story is pretty damn inspiring. This is all about the spirits! They aren't a restaurant. They have a few things like Chex Mix, and cheese and crackers for snacks. But - the cocktails (and it's a big list!) are creative, exceptionally balanced and delicious. They create these liqueurs and make seriously wicked cocktails using them. To call these ladies "bartenders" would be - inaccurate. They're artists. Check them out!

They were so great to chat and tell me the story of their business and details about upcoming events and seasonal drinks. You can tell they care about their patrons. The ambiance is bright, rather than a dimly lit cocktail bar. They showcase their homemade liqueurs in each drink. I just got one cocktail - the ginger mezcalita - and it was perfectly spicy, smoky, and vibrant. But so many others on their menu sound delicious. You can build your own charcuterie or order a macaron they source locally to pair a snack with your drink. The macarons are unique flavors too.

We came early enough that we got a booth no problem but note if you've got a larger party with little ones, you may have a wait - most of their seating options are high tops and they don't have highchairs. Now. Alaskan cuisine was a new one for me, but I was excited to try. We started our journey with some huckleberry old fashioneds. I love huckleberry and will always get it if available and this did not lead me astray. We started with crab dip which was a hit even with our baby. For the mains, my husband got the meatloaf platter and was obsessed. I had their specialty burger (a mix of beef and elk) that included arugula, goat cheese, jam and some onions - also top notch. To finish things off we got chocolate raspberry cheesecake and... Wow. Delectable. If it's not obvious, the food here is epic and I love the concept and theme. Will happily return next time we're in the area. That cheesecake though....

They do not offer high chairs and I definitely miss this is it meant that I had to try to juggle a beer and eating dinner with my 13 month old which definitely takes away from the experience so if you're gonna go in with kids be prepared. My son had the barbecue wings and they were very good. They had been smoked instead of just thrown in the fryer which was a nice touch. The blue cheese chips were really good as were the fish and chips. We had it with cod. Oh my goodness Yum next time my way to give the cheese ball a skip because it just wasn't my thing, but I knew that going in my husband wanted to try it though

Ballmer feels like family. This is their second location and we've watched them grow into this space and create a fabulous community with events happening all the time. Bingo, trivia, events to support our local animal shelter (Foothills), holiday events and most recently for their one year anniversary for this location: their famous Dunk the Distiller (aka Austin). Ballmer is fabulous. They're endlessly creative with their cocktails, the whole space has a fabulous sense of humor while also being very tasteful and minimalist. There's nothing we don't love. My favorites this past visit? -- Water you Looking At (seasonal, fruity) -- Ballmer Whiskey Sour (solid staple) -- Fire in the Sky (spice me up!) Def stop by. You'll understand immediately why we love it.

They have such a unique array of flavorful drink combinations that are creative and delicious. This is the first time we stopped by the secondary location with a friend and the bigger location is very nice. They have a full rack of games to play and there were a couple people that came in to do some work on their laptops as it's a quiet place to post up and enjoy your time.
