Coming from Texas, I wasn't sure, but it was so delicious that I came back two days later with friends. Love how the chips and salsa are served in individual portions. Want to double dip? Go ahead, it is all yours. Had fish tacos with beans and rice. The Daily Fish A La Playa Tacos were delicious. I got the cod fish tacos, one fried and one grilled. Loved the mesero slaw and the small cup of black beans with arroz blanco. Two days later the fish of the day was tilapia, so I went with a combo of a blackened salmon tacos and an atun ahi taco. The seared ahi tune was sprinkled with sesame seeds, pico and a roasted red pepper drizzle. The blackened salmon were topped with corn and avocado. Nice to be able to get one of each. Thanks to our waitresses for the great service and for packing my extra taco to go with some delicious chips and salsa. Airplane snacks, anyone? read more

This new restaurant opened a few months ago in the trendy Oak area. Mesero has a modern layout with lots of tables, a bar that can be accessed from outside, and a kitchen that you can view from the dining area. We were greeted and seated quickly, no reservation required. Our server was friendly, but not entirely knowledgeable about the menu. As for the food, far and away our favorite menu item was the queso fundido. If you love cheese, and we certainly do, please don't skip this delicious appetizer. We ordered a couple of the entrees, which were elegantly plated. I most enjoyed my cheese enchilada (although it had a fancier name that I don't recall). read more

I heard NOTHING but amazing things about this place so I thought it would be a great place to help celebrate my friend and I birthday. The day we picked so happen to be a BUSY NIGHT. I could tell the waiter was overwhelmed by the busyness and he was kinda ALL over the place. He didn't seem very knowledgeable about drink menu to give recommendations. But the drinks we decided on were amazing! We received our appetizers with no utensils. Refills were very slow. Our food came out room temperature. I have eaten here a few times at the bar. Service has always been great and the food is good. First time I tried their salad... it is HUGE. This time I tried the tacos. Highly recommend the brisket or the ahi tacos. You can get them without beans, 4-5 dollars each. Location is great. Every time I have visited, I have found parking easily. Yum! Really enjoyed this spot. The interior was beautiful and very spacious. They were very accommodating for our large group for my sisters graduation party. What a great addition to the NW OKC area. I love the vibe in this area. You can get drinks go outside or of course eat inside the restaurant. The art sculptures ans seating outdoors is a great date night set up. Upon entering the restaurant greeted immediately and seated. My waitress was nice but spoke really fast I do t think English was her strong point but she managed. I think we irritated her because we had to ask her several times to repeat what she said. Beyond that the food and drinks were excellent. It's a beautiful restaurant and yeah the carrot cake alone is worth a trip! My husband and I decided to try Mesero around 4:30 pm on a Saturday and got seated immediately. My husband was not impressed with his old fashion but I enjoyed my Jalapina margarita. I had the el "miguelito", the tejano enchilada was surprisingly my favorite, I usually go for queso covered enchiladas first. I did feel my food was lukewarm and could have been hotter, but enjoyed the variety and flavors on my plate. We did agree that we would revisit, would like to come back in warmer weather to enjoy outdoor seating that gives you access to the indoor bar. read more

We stopped here for a quick bite and we were very impressed with the place! It was a beautiful venue with lots of natural light, the menu had lots of reasonably priced options, and the service was great! They started us off with a trio of dips and chips. The dips were SO good, especially whatever the orange one is!!! We got the shrimp ceviche and the bacon wrapped shrimp. Both were so flavorful and delicious! We wanted something fresh and also filling without being overwhelming and these two dishes did it for us! Definitely recommend, and we want to come back to try actual entrees! read more

Mesero was just okay. We found pros and cons for the location but overall, we weren't super impressed. Starting off with pros - our waitress was super nice and on top of her game. The place was packed but she was still attentive. The presentation of the food looked great and it came out decently quick. We got the duo (queso and guacamole), mole enchiladas, shrimp taco, and a roja enchilada. Overall, we felt that the prices were reasonable. Ending with cons - the space was SO loud to the point my partner and I could not have a conversation. It led to us rushing through our meal to leave. Updating review because I ate dinner here on the patio. (Patio is more of a sidewalk.) We had a group of six and were seated promptly outside. (It was going to be a 45 minute wait for inside seating.) Service outside was good. Still love the chips and salsa. I'm not a frozen drink fan, but I did try their house El Santo (swirled marg and sangria). I would order it again. I was less impressed with the tacos. I had the asada tacos and they were OK. I have been to a Mesero location in Dallas before, so I was excited to see this one open in OKC. I went for dinner with a group of 6, and we were seated outside right away. Weather was perfect. The margarita selection is unmatched in OKC! They had about 10 I want to try. Overall, my experience and meal were all great. My coworkers seemed to enjoy it a lot too. It's just a bit pricey for what it is. I want to try a margarita flight next time. And if you get an appetizer as an entree, they upcharge $4 but add rice & beans. The restaurant is large, open and beautifully decorated. Sometimes places like this can echo with table conversations and make it impossible to chat. Somehow this isn't the case here. Although out booth for six was a bit small, chatting was mostly possible. We arrived on Sunday afternoon just as the Thunder was winning and before the crush of after game diners. The restaurant was mostly empty when we arrived. As other reviews have mentioned, service is a work in progress. I hope it's not where management wants it to be. Our server wasn't well acquainted with the menu and wasn't really listening to us and our likes/dislikes. They bring out individual cups of chips (you can get more) and a trio of sauces. The red sauce is simply bland tomato sauce. Perhaps you could put it on a pizza but it's not for dipping. The green sauce was the most balanced and popular for the table. I preferred the spicy yellow sauce but it was too spicy for everyone but me. We ordered a dip duo appetizer. I disliked the yellow cheese dip but everyone else enjoyed it. The guacamole was bland. It was avocado and little else. From our booth we had a front row view into the kitchen. Thankfully the glass and soundproofing kept the kitchen noises at bay. I didn't see any warming lights. If they exist they're not in view but I have a feeling they don't have any. My plate and food were room temperature. Two of us ordered the refried black beans and a film had formed on the top from sitting so long (my assumption). I don't know how this kitchen works but perhaps delivering six entrees at once lies beyond their current abilities. Plates should be warm or they will suck the heat out of the food. One guest ordered the cast iron chicken and said it was dry. Lukewarm food was the primary feedback I garnered from the others in my group. The best thing I had was a cup of Chicken Tomatillo Soup. At this time I can't recommend Mesero which is a shame. I've eaten at their Texas locations and my expectations weren't met. We will return but it won't be soon. Decided to try this place out with my favorite foodie buddy Sacha! It was a Monday afternoon around 2pm and the restaurant was not busy. There were only two other tables occupied, and a gentleman at the bar. Firstly, we ordered drinks. I just wanted hot water with lemon. I was disappointed that our server brought the hot water out in a styrofoam cup. The ambiance of this restaurant doesn't scream fast food or low-end. This is a modern Tex Mex restaurant that's located near Tommy Bahamas in Oak. The ambiance and look of the restaurant is modern and chic so, when she brought something out in a styrofoam cup I was a bit thrown off. When hot liquids are poured into styrofoam cups, they can cause styrene, a chemical component of polystyrene, to leach into the drink. Styrene is considered a possible human carcinogen by the International Agency for Research on Cancer. It is harmful to the nervous system, liver, and reproductive system with long-term exposure. I am a biology major and major science nerd. I also care about my health now that I'm middle-aged. I also am high risk for breast cancer so, I try to stay on top of my health on all levels both nutrition and fitness. Styrofoam also doesn't hold up well to high temperatures and may melt or deform, increasing the risk of chemical exposure and burns. If using styrofoam, it should be only used for cold beverages to be less exposed to these harmful risks. Anyways, onto the food. I ordered the cazera salad. The greens were not super fresh for a restaurant of this caliber. The flavor was pretty decent, but for $20 after chicken was added, it was not worth the price. We also ordered the ahi tuna nachos app to share, and that was actually really good. The table side chips and dips were okay. I only liked the green salsa. The red salsa tasted like tomato paste and the yellow salsa.. honestly, I can't even describe what it tasted like, it just tasted funky. However, the chips were fresh and not stale. Sacha ordered the happy hour tacos, but they weren't tacos. They were fried Mexican dumplings with a dipping sauce of your choice. He told me that he wished our waitress had described the happy hour menu items a little bit better, because he would not have ordered what he had ordered if he knew that he was going to be served fried dumplings. Overall, the tuna app was great, my salad was okay, and Sacha did not like his food. The food really isn't that fresh, and we probably won't come back unless invited by friends. New to Okc, Mesero is now open in the Oak. It's a blend of Mexican and Tex-Mex. The restaurant is very modern and welcoming, and has a very open feel. Service was really good, although it was a bit disorganized, but it is opening day, and that is to be expected. Upon being seated, we were each given a small container of chips and three dipping sauces for the table. I liked the chips, but they did taste a bit on the stale side to me. For an appetizer, we ordered the Atún Ahí Nachos, which were incredible. Our entree was Mesero Carbon with grilled steak , guacamole, flour tortilla, arroz rojo. The steak was very well seasoned, and the tortillas were very fresh. The rice was typical tax max rice, my only complaint was I felt like for $17. The portion was a little small. For dessert, we had the Cinco Leche cake. It was really nice, I would probably fall in my top three. Overall, it was a positive experience, I would go back if I was in the area, but would not drive across the city. Such a fun spot- especially for happy hour. The location is right smack next to the central park which gives it great vibes and views. The look is clean and modern. I ordered the HH martini which was....ok. I needed to ask for some more olive juice as it was very vermouth heavy. However my friend ordered the margarita and loved it. Chips and salsa are delivered upon sitting and they are pretty good. I order the queso which was thick and yummy. My friend ordered the nachos which are good. Just keep in mind it's like 5 chips that are just fully loaded. Not like a plate of nachos bits pricier which is I'm guessing because of the location. I can confidently say this is the best Mexican food in Oklahoma City--hands down. Service: Our server, Israel, was superb. He was extremely courteous, attentive, and professional--truly the best server I've had in decades. His exceptional service elevated the entire evening. Food: We started with crispy chips and three incredible salsas, each with its own unique and delicious flavor profile. Every dish we ordered was a standout--shrimp ceviche, shrimp fajitas, and shrimp enchiladas were all phenomenal. Even the strawberry lemonade, with free refills, was so refreshing and flavorful. Mesero Mexican? They have happy hour special running from 2-6 PM, so I went with the six-taco combo--three beef, three chicken. These were the smaller, fried-style tacos, and I added queso on the side. My fiancée ordered the grilled chicken salad with their avocado vinaigrette-style dressing, and I had a few bites--honestly, it was one of the better parts of the meal. We also shared a tuna tortilla-style appetizer, which was fresh and flavorful. They brought out chips (à la carte) with three different dipping sauces--nice presentation and a good variety. The place is clean, modern, and service was appropriate . No real issues there. That said, the food just didn't quite do it for me. I'm used to more traditional Mexican fare--like taco trucks with bold flavor and some heat. This felt a little too safe. Even the salsa didn't have that kick I look for. It's kind of like when someone used to real Chinese food tries Panda Express--clean and approachable, but not exactly what you were craving. The interior is clean and modern with both warm and natural lighting. There is an AI-generated portrait of Frida Kahlo displayed above the booth seating, ehich was pretty for the color scheme, but unrelateable to the rest of the space design. I dropped my belongings at the table for a quick trip to the restroom to wash hands. When I came back, she had already set the table and served chips with 3 dipping sauces. The orange tasted like a cold spicy cheese dip, the green was avocado mixed into Pico de gallo, and the red was their house salsa. The avocado with Pico was very flavorful and their house salsa was watery but also very fresh, flavorful way. I ordered a mimosa with prosecco and received table service for the pour - a nice touch. The drink was garnished with a raspberry. I ordered the chili quiles, the asada con huevos, emotes, and cheddar grits. The chili quiles tasted a lot like a chicken casserole with chips mixed in. I reccommend this for rainy day weather food. The elotes was served cold. Beautiful presentation-I am not sure if the food temp was intentional, but not my personal preference. I think with the amount of cremation added, it is probably better for hot weather. The asada was made with a skirt steak and seasoned to perfection!!! It came with papa's and 2 over easy eggs. I dipped my potato and steak into the yolk, which paired in a nice, savory fashion. The grits were surpringly not too gritty considering this is not a soul food restaurant. There aren't too many restaurants in OKC that can serve grits without under or over-cooking them. The prices are entirely reasonable for being located in a price-gouging property like The Oak, so no reason not to try them for brunch, lunch, and dinner. **NOTE: The server thanked me for asking her before recording the pour, so I asked her if people are not asking first and she confirmed that people will just come in and start recording people. I believe this is a successful restaurant from Dallas so we were excited to try it. We walk in and its decor is chic. The staff were great, top to bottom. They bring out the chips and salsa/queso. I liked the red salsa, nice and tomatoey. The salsa verde was good but a bit too runny to stay on the chips. The queso, if it was queso, is served cold, intentionally. It also had a flavor to it that was unusual to me. I saw they had enchiladas with mole, with tomatillo, and more. They were accommodating enough to bring me one of each. I'm a little relieved I didn't order both mole because I'm fairly certain they added cinnamon to the mole sauce. Couldn't finish that one. The tomatillo one was pretty good, but not as good as Ted's , and for me, Ted's is just kind of ok. But Ted's enchiladas are better, no question. The service was abysmal - poor response times, had to give reminders to bring coffee & cocktails to the table, long table times for food delivery, and when the food arrived it lack flavor and substance. The churro pancakes were heavy with cinnamon - dry and unbalanced. The chicken breasts were the size of Cornish game hen breasts and unseasoned (for a fajita). The bacon they served was cool, hard, and chewy. The mimosa flights crashed hard after the first sip - warm champagne added to room temperature juices. The tables are all "intimate" (read that as small) and the plates are huge with food that does not fill them. So you are crowded in your eating space when your food finally does arrive. When we told them our experience was bad, the server did not acknowledge nor apologize. And no manager was around to speak to. Yes - I sound like a diva - but I was hoping for so much more and I was gravely disappointed. We walked across to Tommy Bahamas Marlin Bar and had much better service and food.
