    Everything bagel, minus a bite
    Steven F.

We have driven by here many times and finally stopped to try what has been called a real New York style bagel. Well, this suggestion was right on. This was an excellent bagel in NY style. Chewy outer shell and soft inside. It would stack up to any bagel shop in New York city. Everything was nice and fresh. So, with that said you are probably wondering why I only gave it 4 stars. Well, two reasons: First, we got an everything bagel, and a cinnamon and blueberry bagel. There were very few blueberries in the second bagel. Second, we wanted them with butter. It is under the heading of a schmear on your bagel. They have a lot of choices. The bagel itself was $2, the bagel with a schmear was $4.25. Which I would normally be fine with, however butter was in the schmear catelgory. So, for getting my bagel with a swipe of butter it was more than the bagel itself. Here is picture of the bagel. Sorry I took several bites before I remembered to get a picture. I will definitely be going back, however will be bringing the bagels home to use my own butter.

I ordered a vegan cream cheese bagel with smoked salmon. I'm lactose intolerant so I don't get to order this kind of stuff so this was nice. The cream cheese tastes like the real deal and the environment was nice. They don't have outdoor seating setup but hopefully soon!

If you love bagels, this needs to be your go-to! Their bagels are always fresh and the service is always kind. This is a great idea for a group breakfast or large group meal. They make it easy to order one bagel or as many as you need + lots of different schmears.

Five stars for the bagels, four stars for the set up & execution, and three for the service. If you are wise enough to order ahead of time, then you can skip the last two items and you'll get five star bagels. If you want to just go enjoy a bagel and maybe a cup of coffee, then the line jams at the door, the table layout is still in COVID mode, and the service line seems to be in reverse order. Great bagels, from the simplest to add-in items (the Mrs. is a sucker for pumpernickel with plain schmear and laid) with plenty of options. I love me a sesame with a crazy amount of plain cream cheese and Meshuggah's comes through strong! Easy to find, easy to enjoy. Perfect option for skipping a larger sit-down meal and still enjoying some breakfast fare. Work on the flow inside and this is a winner.

I always thought the best bagel I've had was Bagels on the Hudson in Hoboken, NJ. The second best was Bagel Bin in Omaha, NE. This tops both of them. This was the perfect Everything Bagel - a bit hard on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Just like a bagel should be. The scallion schmear is soooo good. I love savory bagels and savory cream cheese. Great spot for take out breakfast. I wish I lived in KC so I could get this often.

This is the best bagel hands down! The staff is very kind and willing to do whatever it takes to ensure a great experience. The ambiance is unmatched! Such Quaint little hole in the wall. Perfect for a morning alone or a casual business meeting.

Best bagels in town with great options. Opening time of 8am though on weekend which is pretty silly.

We went on a Saturday morning and they were packed!! No seating on the main floor or upstairs…read more Luckily it was a beautiful day so we got to enjoy their ample patio seating. The women working the cashier was very kind and helpful. Absolutely fantastic quality of food and coffee! Our whole group was impressed with everything that we ordered. The stand out was the bacon Gouda sandwich on some phenomenal ciabatta bread. The bagel was outstanding. The pastry case was drool worthy and we'll have to come back to eat through it. Price wise its a bit on the pricey side but worth it for the quality you're receiving. Lots of free street parking available. Note for the cold brew lovers - they don't serve cold brew so be ready with your back up order.

It's small but not too small with the outdoor and upstairs seating. I was quickly greeted by the very friendly staff after walking in. I asked "what's the best thing on the menu if I was never to be here again (I'm a driver and likely won't)" and she said the bacon Gouda and boy oh boy was it good! The bacon was very high quality and so was the bread. The cheese was super melted and made the almost garlic buttery mayo taste even better. I would highly recommend it and would recommend this place!!

Their generous cream cheese schmears (the garlic & dill and specialty options are incredible) and fresh lox sandwiches make it a must-visit local spot. The gentleman that helped us was amazing and patient. I got one bagel with sesame seeds toasted with garlic and dill cream cheese Amazing !! my only complaint is one single bagel is eight dollars but worth every penny.Parking could be rough since this location is in the middle of downtown. 100 % recommend!!

YE Gurl Says: Kansas City Just Earned Some New York Points at Meshuggah Bagels…read more Listen, I am naturally skeptical of any bagel shop outside of New York making bold claims. On their website, Meshuggah Bagels proudly declares that they've perfected their recipe to the point where "even a New Yorker would swear they were biting into a piece of home." That's a dangerous statement. As someone who has spent enough time in New York to know the difference between a bagel and a round piece of bread with aspirations, I approached with caution. What I needed was simple: a quick breakfast bite that wasn't going to turn into a full sit-down affair. Then I walked in and saw the menu. The first sign of hope? Bialys. Not many places outside New York even bother. Add smoked salmon options, pastrami nova, and a cooler stocked with old-school Dr. Brown's sodas, and suddenly my skepticism started to soften. So naturally, I ordered accordingly. And I have to admit...They got me. The bagel had the right structure. It was fresh and sturdy enough to support a generous schmear and mountain of salmon without collapsing into a soggy mess halfway through. The salmon itself was abundant. Not one of those sad situations where you're hunting through cream cheese trying to locate the seafood. Every bite delivered. And paired with a Dr. Brown's? For a brief moment, I was transported back to Brooklyn. Not fully thought. Let's not get carried away. But enough to appreciate what they were trying to accomplish. The place was absolutely packed, which is usually a good sign. We were fortunate to find a spot to sit down and enjoy everything before heading back out. YE Gurl Insight: Regional food nostalgia is hard to recreate. Most places chase authenticity through marketing. The better ones focus on execution. Meshuggah Bagels seems to understand that difference. Final Take: Fresh bagels with proper texture Excellent smoked salmon portions Bialys on the menu (a major point in their favor) Classic deli-shop feel Worth the downtown stop YE Gurl Says: If you're in Kansas City and craving a bagel experience that comes surprisingly close to scratching that New York itch, make the stop. Will it replace your favorite neighborhood bagel shop in Brooklyn? No. Will it make you forget you're in Kansas City for a few bites? Surprisingly, yes.
