Honestly, this is the best Latin food available in this entire area. The pernil/pork roast is without a doubt the best pork roast I've ever had (and I've had some damn good pork roast). It's the perfect texture with great flavor and the right amount of juiciness. You cannot find a better pork roast in the tri-state area, without a doubt. But, that's just the pork roast. The mofongo tasted like an overdose of vinegar. My husband ordered the Pernil. He enjoyed his. My daughter ordered grilled chicken with fries. Yum yum yum!!! Get the garlic shrimp it is BOMB. My girlfriends and I were fighting over the last drops of the sauce to dump our bread in lmao. I placed my order around 1:45 pm, 2 hours later my ONE order has not arrived. I am not sure as to why it takes 2 hours to deliver ONE plate of food that is less than 20 mins away. We called the restaurant OVER 8 times and all they continued to do was hang up on us after saying "Hold on".. Very very Bad customer service. I have done catering from them 3 times and always food came out perfect. 1 time the driver got lost or at least that's what he said.. I'm sure they were just running on Dominican time. Food is not a joke.. I will eat everything on the menu and have tried most of it already. My favorite is pork mofongo! Delicious. I also really like their shrimp mofongo. This place is great! The food is delicious and the service is good. It is authentic Dominican cuisine that tastes very homemade. I love the traditional Dominican breakfast of "mangu con los tres golpes" (mashed plantains with eggs, Dominican sausage, and fried cheese)! Their pernil is really good, as is the sancocho and goat stew. The empanadas are also delicious. Now, if you are used to "American" restaurants, you need to understand that Latin restaurants are different when it comes to the speed of service. This is not a bad thing, but you need to realize that before going to pretty much any Latin restaurant. A lot of Latino people do not rush like we do when they go out to eat. It is a very social thing...and so service may not be quick like you are used to. If you are in a hurry, just let them know, and they will get you in and out quickly. However, if you are not, order an appetizer and dinner, and then be sure to finish it off with a nice hot coffee and perhaps some flan! Sit, talk, and enjoy! The owner is a really sweet woman and her family that works there is nice too. They speak perfect English in case you don't know Spanish. Ordered from here tonight after finding the restaurant on Yelp. Was told when calling that the order would take at least an hour or more which is understandable given the weather we're having. Anywho...I ordered the oxtails platter, roast pork platter, sweet plantains, yellow rice & beans. Not even 30 minutes later, the driver called to advise he was outside. Yum, yum and YUM!!!! The only things that would have gotten them 5 stars on Yelp was for there to be a sauce for the pork (which wasn't dry, just could have taken it to another level) and for there to be more oxtails with the order. I've visited this restaurant for the first time ever. When we got there we seated ourselves. Within 10 minutes a young woman did come to the table to take our drink orders. About 10 minutes later , another woman came to the table and and apologized because she had forgotten us and took our orders. The red snapper was out of this world!!!! We also ordered empanadas, black beans with white rice and maduros. They gave us a free sample of San Cocho which was also delicious. The food was so delicious that we decided to order chicken to go. My business orders from them every Saturday spending anywhere from $40-$80. The people they have working there are rude and incompetent. I ordered a huge order of empanadas all chicken , ( just to simplify it because I've already had bad ordering experience in the past ) the lady was struggling to take the order . I had to have her repeat it to me 3 times for them to STILL MESS UP THE ORDER , she sent me all beef empanadas NOT CHICKEN, when i call back the owner is telling me that there is only a problem with our order when WE ( my company specifically orders ) i told her i am calling from a business line and all calls are recorded, if she wanted to hear the recording to assure her I ordered all CHICKEN NOT BEEF . she proceeded to ask the lady who took my initial order if i ordered chicken or beef , the lady specifically said she DID NOT REMEMBER what I ordered. Instead of taking responsibility as an owner for the incompetence of her employees she proceeded to tell me it was MY COMPANIES FAULT, lets just put it this way , WE WILL NOT BE ORDERING FROM HERE EVERRRRRRR AGAIN. The owner should go back to business school and re-educate herself on how customers bring you money therefore make your business prosperous. The staff is rude no one really apologized and the girl who took my order on the phone acted as if it never existed . One day when a friend and I were visting Linden we decided to try this restaurant. I had walked nearby before and the aromas coming from it were just too delicious. Lots of excellent food choices. Both a treat and a bargain. Don't miss the vegetables and use of tropical ingredients. I have now been twice and felt I had a quick trip to Santo Domingo both times. Great takeout joint. Very helpful when you're on the train on the way home and realize that you have nothing in your refrigerator and you don't want to eat out or have a pizza or sub. They are the only place in the area on Seamless.com which is why I initially tried them. Highly recommend the pernil roast pork which is served with both rice and beans. Easily two portions for $7.00. In NYC for comparable cuisine, the same dish would be $13. Chicken empanadas are pretty good too. Definitely check your bag for order accuracy when picking up though. I've never been to the actual restaurant but I was brought back a dinner recently. It was pretty good. I had the mofongo with pork belly. The pork belly was nice and crispy but the plantains dried the dish out a little. I had to dump some kind of green garlicky sauce on it which itself was delicious. Came on a rainy Tuesday night and while the restaurant was empty my order of Pernil platter and a chicken chunks platter was about 25 minutes. They said it was the chicken (made to order)holding up my order. I also ordered green and yellow plantains of which both were DRY!!!!!! like they were sitting there all day. very disappointed in that. the pernil tasted salty to me but the rice and beans were so good the kids asked for seconds. If you're seeking the overwhelming smell of Roach Bomb as soon as you walk in, look no further...this is the place for you. But it doesn't stop there...the hustle and bustle of the FOUR people there allows you to forgive the juice stain on one of the seats that hasn't been cleaned for hours. After waiting a few minutes without anyone acknowledging me, I decided to walk up to the counter and order a picadera and an empanada. The empanada wasn't bad, I admit, but then again I never had a bad empanada...but I speak to soon. After the 3rd bite, I could taste that darn roach bomb again. Anyway, when we were finally ready to order, the waiter started to write down our order. Hold up...no he didn't...he stopped writing down our order to go and get the frijoles for the other table...but no worries...He came back to finish taking our order. What a relief! After completing our order, my wife figured it my take a little while for us to get our food, and she knew she could die in exactly 43 minutes from the roach poison...so she asked how long it would take. The waiter then said that they were backed up and it may take a while. Wait what? Didn't he just go get the frijoles for the only four other people there? I thought they were done? By my account we were next. I don't know. Maybe their Uber Eats business was booming. Anyway he said he would go ask the cook to see how long it would take. He did, and said it would take about an hour to get our mofongos. 1 HOUR!! Today is Dominican Independence Day...there should have been some extra help to cook and serve the queso frito and tostones...but sadly on this 27th day of February, on the very same day DR gained their independence, el Meson Tropical also gained their independence from our family's business. read more

The food smelled so good, but when I got home and tasted my Pernil it wasn't as good as it smelled and the portion of meat to rice was 1/4 at best.
