The staff members were hilarious, attentive, and super sweet. A patron couldn't ask more from a bartender/mixologist. I'd come back again just for the staff members! I tried some zero-proof drinks from their fridge!

So many amazing beers, and so little time. Get your food and pair it with a beer or hard cider.

I love the concept of the entire Liberty Station shopping and eating venue. One highlight is the Mess Hall. The cocktail bar in the Liberty public market. Where else can you sit at a bar, get a craft cocktail, or small batch beer, and bring back food from all different vendors? That is a rhetorical question. Cheers and enjoy. NOM NOM

Located at liberty station, can be hard to find parking some times. Located in a food hall with lots of food items. Nice casual food vibes and good range of beer selections

Great spot for large groups, great selection of drinks and food. Here you can buy alcoholic drinks on tap or beers/ciders/wine to go.

The first stop we made when I was in town last was Mess Hall, reason being, it's got something for everyone. I'm a big kombucha beer drinker but I can also go for a sour, IPA, glass of Cab or silver tequila. My friends are a little more specific though and only drink beer or only drink wine, so Mess Hall was the perfect place to not only all get what we liked, but also try many varieties/local brands of our own individual favorite styles of alcohol. They also host themed nights, have good bar snacks (i.e. San Diego Snack Co Mexican Chocolate Pretzels), TVs all around to play "the game," and a wide variety of restaurant booth options throughout the rest of the public market style building where you can order and bring your food to the hall to eat all together with your group. The theme here is variety and tons of quality options at that. There's tons of free parking all around the building complex, though I'd recommend Ubering/Lyfting if you don't have a DD because you're going to want to try all the drinks. My favorite options here were the Juneshine kombucha beers, specifically the Midnight Painkiller flavor, though I've tried almost all of them and don't hate any of them. They also have Boochcraft kombucha beers and two other brands i'd never heard of before. The cider selection is larger than I'd ever seen and their beers on tap include a huge variety of local options you'll love. My friends and I all got a different beer, tried each others and had not complaints, though the orange flavored Modern Times was definitely the group favorite. Checkout Mess Hall! It's a group group setting, first date spot, place to watch the game, and so on. This area has so much fun stuff to see and do, If you're a tourist I'd recommend giving yourself time to explore all the shops and food and beverage options. Not insanely kid friendly but not the worst spot to take them either; it can just get pretty loud in Mess Hall. If you're planning your visit ahead of time, check out their social media for cool upcoming events!

This appears to be the only place to buy beer and spirits in the Liberty Food Market. They do have a very large selection of draft beer and beer and wine to go. The prices are ok but I don't like that they tacked on a 4% covid fee. I know many of these places are hurting but I would rather they just raise their prices.

The cocktail bar in Liberty public market. Where else can you sit at a bar, get a craft cocktail, and bring back food from all different vendors and set up a spread for yourself. So fun. We came in a Sunday afternoon and grabbed a snack at Mastiff and a drink at Mess Hall while we waited for our brunch reservation. I had the Tiberius which was very refreshing although a tidge sweet. It is a blend of vodka, cucumber, fresh lemon, and rosemary agave. Yum. Our bartender was super awesome. Knowledgeable and friendly. My partner in crime got a Bloody Mary, and he really enjoyed it.

Located right inside liberty market, they have a good variety of alcoholic drinks to go or to consume there, there are a few tables. Good ambiance with a lot of people go grab some food and come eat here while they enjoy some drinks.

Mess Hall Bar is the only bar in Liberty Public Market... so you really don't have a choice if you want hard liquor or pricing. Been here several times, drinks are made decently. What gives this place a 4 in my opinion is their Bloody Mary. They make their own BM mix, it's thick and delicious with good substance, you can taste some spice of the horseradish and it's not runny. The prices are quite inflated but it's because it's probably the location. The BM or any cocktail will cost you about $15.

I grabbed a drink here last night with a friend of mine before we headed to a concert. It's located inside Liberty Public Market. On Saturdays and Sundays they have $6 Mimosas from 9am-11am I believe. I ordered a Market Sunrise $13 which has rum, pineapple, orange, orgeat, and housemade grenadine. It tasted just alright. I usually don't drink alcohol too often for a number of reasons, one being that once I break the seal I'll have to go to the bathroom every 5 minutes haha. Overall, this place is okay. Not a bad place to grab a drink when you're in Liberty Public Market.

This is a fun bar with a good atmosphere. It gets loud. It's also quite the mixed crowd, so expect to see families and kids sitting right behind you. Be on your best behavior, and don't expect privacy here at all. The servers here are very friendly. However, a couple things: 1) They ever-so-slightly push bottles of wine on you instead of glasses. You feel the up-sell. 2) Their wine selection is a bit thin. I've also been in here three times over the last year, and didn't see much change in their offerings compared to most places. I'm a Cabernet guy, and having tried their entire offering here I was a bit "meh" about all of them. Nonetheless, they aren't terrible. It's just not a wine bar. In fact, I would go so far as to say it's far more of a beer bar. I've got to come back here at some point to experience the beer side of things. I imagine the experience would be better. They boast cocktails like "Sex in the Mess Hall," which is a terrible name for a cocktail hahaha!! I mean I see what they are doing. Sex on the Beach. Sex in the Mess Hall. Ok. Except sex on the beach sounds romantic! Sex in the Mess Hall sounds super weird, voyeuristic / exhibitionistic / kinky. I mean whatever floats your boat I guess, but just from a marketing perspective that one is questionable. Who is the target audience of that one exactly? Hahaha jeez... I love the location of this place. There's shops and restaurants close by, and gorgeous places to walk around right outside. Major plus! There's also a cooler full of beer you can buy and take to go. So it's half beer market as well. That's a good thing to know about.

    Dranks!

We sat in the Mess Hall Cocktail Bar for drinks before exploring the public market. We were able to snag seats at the bar area easily since we came on a Monday evening. I was able to order a citrus bubbly drink - light and crisp - for $5. It was a perfect and bright drink after a long day. I had a bite of my friend's meatballs that he ordered. The meatballs were tasty, but I probably wouldn't order it again. I like all the seating and you can bring in food from the other vendors, esp if it's not too busy (weeknights). The vendors in the public market close early but Mess Hall stays open later. So get your walk on (it's small public market), then hang out at MH for the remainder of the night.

This time around, it was just the 3 of us, to chat over some wine and apps. Had their April featured Pinot, which was amazing (had 2 glasses). It's good to keep in mind that they only sell their flatbreads on certain days and unfortunately, they didn't serve it when we went. So, instead we had the crostinis, which is perfect if you want a little bit of everything, but not sure what to get. My friend got the chicken Caesar wrap, and it was a lot bigger than expected. As far as the ambience, there's seating all around the bar that's located in the middle. So it's convenient to just walk up to the bar to place your order. Servers and bartenders were friendly and quick. Overall this is a great laid-back place for small or large groups.

First, I still really enjoy the Carruth Wine Garden. It is nice to have an outdoor space to drink wine right in the center of the city. In general there plenty of parking ,and it is dog friendly. As far as the wine, it is very good. I like some more than others. More recently, I have enjoyed the Unicorn Red Blend ( a longtime favorite) and the Syrah. I love that it is dog friendly, inside and out. My dog loves going there and she makes friends each time. A change that they made recently is that the main garden area is now child-free, which was a positive change in my options, as it had gotten a bit chaotic in the past with children not being very well supervised. The still have a family-friendly outdoor space. In the past, there was always live music when I came. I was there most recently on a Saturday evening and was disappointed that there was no music. Also, the prices have gone up ($18 per glass). Unfortunately, I found the pours to be somewhat inadequate, though it depended which staff member was pouring the wine. They do not allow for outside food, and only make certain dishes certain days of the week, which unfortunately doesn't allow for many options if you are hungry. Water is readily available inside and outside. All in all, it is a lovely place with good wine to come with friends and your 4-legged friends. It has gotten a bit pricey, and I do wish we could bring out own snacks, but I still enjoy going and am sure that I will be back.

It could have used some sort of sauce between the meat and cheese and the bread- or maybe just a layer of melty blue cheese instead of the as crumbles on top? Something to help the toppings stick. My SIL had the tuna nicoise- it looked delicious and she said it was very good. The potatoes are warm- which would be a plus for me! I was able to secure a seat (due to showing for dinner around 4 pm or so), but the restaurant filled up nicely and hosted about 4 anniversary's and 1 birthday in my time there. Dress attire seemed casual but there is definitely a more elevated clientele so I would recommend a thoughtful outfit for the experience.
