My coworkers and I went there last night after a holiday work party and had so much fun! I'm sure our group was annoying and all over the place but this dive bar always feels like home. I don't know her name but the blonde long haired bartender was AMAZING! I asked for a goldrush and instead of her getting annoyed she kindly told me it's a basic bar that doesn't have things like honey or mint. I was happy to order some shots of tequila instead and you can tell she really cares about her customers. Good bartenders have your back, are patient in the chaos, and fast with service. For a really old dive bar (one of the firsts in SD) its actually really clean and not too dingey. Drinks are good price, they take cash or card. Service is attentive. And clientele can get rowdy as per the course of a dive bar I suppose. read more

I was showing them the years worth of photos I have of this place and figured it was about damn time I write some fabulous ass Yelp review for the bar that has brought me so many classic memories. First off : cheap beer and pool, which is only made better by the fact that the bartenders here are sick as hell. Ally, one of the bartenders, is legit one of the sole reasons the homies and I come to this bar. I'm giving this place 5 stars because of the excellent service I got from Whitney. She was very attentive and polite. (Otherwise I'd give it 3.5 stars) The drinks here are fair and reasonably priced. There is one pool table in the back and a Touch Tune jukebox that takes request. I went on a Sunday and they were showing highlights from the Charger game earlier. I brought my girlfriend here and guy customers here are friendly, but not necessarily polite. Almost all of them tried to ask for her number every time I tried to use the restroom. I have seen some rip roaring drunks in this place! I don't think anyone gets cut off here! It is interesting, full of "eclectic" individuals. I got sucked in here while my friend was getting his oil changed next door. They only have Budweiser on tap, but plenty of bottled beers. NO BELVEDERE, but they do have Kettel One. I don't think this place has ever had a "make-over" since the early 80s. There are still Budweiser girls in frames with feathered hair and high waisted bikinis on the walls that show off their camel toes. They have 2 pool tables a decent juke box and they take credit cards. I think this dive is another place I would only go during the day... But hey what can I say I have all my teeth. I live right up the hill from this bar. I LOVE it. I could see how it's not what everyone's looking for. But if you're looking for a quiet place to have some strong drinks, in a chill environment, with great service- This is it. I prefer to drink at home, generally speaking. But some nights, just before last call, I like to come down here and socialize with the other local industry folk. I'm not going to lie...there are some days of the week, that I show up here (in my night clothes, with an early onset hangover) right when it opens. Ahem, drinks are super cheap and they make you forget about the sad outdated Budweiser girls posters. There's a pool table, I suck at pool, I kept knocking over the cues and thought I was going to get stabbed, but nobody gave a shit. Apparently, the regulars are country music fans. There was a lady who, confided to us that she was "drunk as a skunk" and kept shouting "Yeeee-haawwww" every minute or so, and she asked us if we liked country music. I told her, "I am going to be honest with you, no." I expected her to be like, "OH HELL NO!" and challenge me to a knife fight in the back, but no, she appreciated my honesty. At some point, I did dance with her to country, then hip-hop. Yes, I think I lost the last bit of "street cred" I had after that night :( There was a major jukebox war going on. Country. Heavy Metal. Hip Hop. I don't even know. Despite our differences in musical taste, the regulars at the Spigot are friendly, colorful, and rather 40 and over individuals who know how to have a good time. Silver Spigot because they have 1 tap, just one and its Budwieser, not Bud Light, Budweiser, and its only $2.50 a pint all day everyday. Now on to the rest of the bar, they have a Daily Specials counter where they have various bottles with a sticker on it with a price. The pours are kind of light, but not in a rip off kind of way. The juke box plays what people pay it to play and during my visit was country and occasional classic rock. I never heard of this place before because it's sort of located in the middle of a long road in between the residential homes. I like this place for its Dive ness . I believe they only have one kind of beer and it makes things simple (Budweiser) Came in on a Thursday night, and it was a good crowd and not too packed. Overall a very grimy hovel with a shoddy pool table. Dive bars usually have eclectic music, interesting bartenders and witty clientele at least in NYC or LA but this place eats nine inches thanks to WT that frequent the joint. There is a sister establishment called the Nite Owl which is better in my opinion.
