I ordered the hot Blackberry Buckle Latte and added white chocolate mocha. I'd never had a blackberry coffee before, and it was surprisingly delicious. It wasn't overly sweet or syrupy. Instead, it had a more balanced, almost savory flavor. You could actually taste the blackberry without it overpowering the coffee, making for a really unique and enjoyable drink. The only downside is that the inside is pretty small. If they're busy, it can feel crowded with customers waiting and ordering since there's not much room to move around. However, they do have outdoor seating with four tables (three shaded by umbrellas) and about six additional individual chairs, making it a nice option to enjoy your coffee outside. Overall, if you're looking for creative coffee flavors, quality espresso, and friendly service, Hi Hat Coffee is definitely worth checking out. Sway is another jewel in the crown that is the Kansas City coffee scene. They could probably franchise their brand and sprinkle some locations in the 'burbs, but that defeats the neighborhood charm. The interior is small, with limited parking. Part of me wants to hide this spot, as I can come in before work and get my coffee in a 5 minute flip. And there's nothing better than a coffee that has a consistent flavor each time. The prices are very affordable, too, for the high quality coffee you are getting. They do run limited run bevs each Friday, Saturday, Sunday that they advertise through their social media. The plane is named after the founder's mother "Betty". It's also a nod to how the company "air roasts" their coffee. When you walk in the vibe feels industrial, aviation-themed, and cozy. I ordered a caramel latte and asked for it to be served in a ceramic. The coffee was excellent as always and this is my go to coffee shop in Kansas City. If you are in the area I highly recommend stopping in for a cup of coffee. Also, there are certain days where you can tour the factory if you are interested in that as well.

Still it is a great location. I was satisfied with the furniture because it seems as if most coffee shops mission is to have the most uncomfortable seating and table option available. The latte was very smooth and creamy, and had the perfect amount of syrup to complement the espresso taste. There were two stocked refrigerators and some snacks available in line if you want a quick soda or snack. Note that you can only take food and beverages to the coffee shop area and lobby entrance to the museum!

It is bland and sad, I don't mind paying $7 for a coffee if the vibes of the coffee shop come correct, but, in this case, you're really only paying the price for the ease of the location being inside the museum. The expresso itself is good quality too, but it's not justifiable for a subpar coffee shop interaction. After walking around for a few hours, I grew thirsty, so I was willing to pay an arm and a leg for my iced decaf latte if that's what it took. Instead, I ended up paying nearly $7 for a drink that wasn't even filled up all the way... sheesh! Also, don't come close to closing. It was about 10 min till 5 pm, and the batista wanted nothing to do with any of the customers. Hopefully, an experience here with a tourist won't scare them away from Kansas City's vibrant coffee culture. Just do yourself a favor and wait until you're out of the museum to get your beverage... or visit the real Thou Mayest in River Market!
