Classic KC coffee shop along Broadway, hence the name. Solid place for a nice cup of coffee with plenty of inside as well as outdoor patio spots for socializing, or people watching. Bonus, the outdoor tables have heaters above for those chilly Autumn days.

I just did a Yelp filter search for coffee and it appears that I have reviewed 177 coffee shops. So where did this long standing caffeine / espresso fascination start? Two places: the short lived but magical Java Gaia on SW Blvd and right here at Broadway Cafe. As a record store employee in the early 90's just up the street, this was the place and only place to sneak away for a double shot or latte to give me the energy to go back to work and teach the suburban kids that wandered in what they should be listening to. And as far as music goes, Broadway has always played a righteous soundtrack. I don't get into Broadway Cafe as often as I should or would like to anymore, but it still is a rewarding visit when I do. This place is still thriving after 3+ decades because it holds on to that Bohemian Westport spirit - come as you are, be kind, all are welcome and serve a good product. This past Sunday I ventured in while in the neighborhood and enjoyed a nice mocha while people watching and nodding my head to some great memories coming from the speakers. Long live Broadway Cafe and long live the true Westport spirit.

This is a beautiful coffee shop. There's ample parking outside and street parking in case it gets too busy. Their coffee is perfectly roasted and the amount of syrup didn't make my latte too sweet! The barista helped us right when we came in and quickly made our drinks. Overall, it's a great place to get some work done with added coffee and pastry selections.

Broadway Cafe is one of the original hip cafes in KC. I'm not sure how long it's been open but I remember visiting here when I was in my early twenties and it had that vibe of early hipster coffee shops from the early aughts/ late 90s. I'm so happy to report that it feels the exact same way it felt back when I first came here in probably 2010. I popped in recently as I had a few meetings in the neighborhood and thought this would make a great stop for an americano while getting some afternoon work done in between appointments. For me, it was nostalgia overload as I was transported back to a more carefree time in my life. It still has a lot of eclectic furnishings, and maintains a certain je ne sais quoi to the space that sets it apart from the uber modern, black and white, coffee bars that seem to dominate coffee shops these days. The coffee was about what I was expecting, I didn't venture outside of a pretty basic drink so hard to know if their take on specialty drinks is remarkable, but if you're looking for a solid cup of joe this is a great place to snag one. The service was friendly, the wifi fast, and it was surprisingly full on a random workday afternoon. Overall, I'll be back when I next find myself in Westport and in need of a reliable place to get some work done.

Amazing hot mocha. Services is quick and respectful. I love the feel of the coffee shop as it always has a few or more people around. One of the few shops open on Sunday if you don't go to church & is open after church if you do.

Super cute coffee shop with great coffee! I got an iced sugar free caramel latte and it was delicious. The inside of this café is super cute and the barista were awesome :) definitely recommend!

This coffee shop is located in the Westport area of Kansas City and is within walking distance of several local shops, tasty restaurants, and fun bars. The Broadway Café is another spacious spot in Kansas City to work remote because there is plenty of seating. There are even a few tables outside of the coffeeshop to sit at on a warm, sunny day. Although they don't offer a full breakfast menu, there are some pastry items and yogurt parfaits. The place was clean and the staff was friendly!

Came here for my morning coffee and it was the best coffee I had all trip. Nice building in a nice area. Service was friendly, they had a different ordering system. Had sugar free syrups available. My sugar free vanilla latte was delicious.

I was skeptical to try the coffee at first because it specially says they make it with RISTRETTO, not espresso. But wow was I amazed. I ordered an iced white mocha with oat milk, and these days, it's hard to get a good coffee with a perfect balance in flavor from Shots to sweetness to milk, but that was a REALLY good coffee!! ALSO- the door handle was so cool!!!!! I sent pictures to my mom and sisters because we all used to work in coffee shops. Loved it!

Amazing coffee and our go-to Cafe in the area. Their beans are always consistent and perfect so we buy the beans quite often. The lattes here are super smooth. They do coffee well and they don't have to make their shop all fancy because it's just that good.

Iced lattes, brown butter rice Krispy treats, and a lemon bar.

Such good coffee and treats. Went in for an iced latte, lemon bar and brown butter rice Krispy treat. Sooo good. Highly recommend if you're in the area and need a pick me up coffee and treat.

Nice space to sit and work. Ordered a cappuccino and it was acceptable but not memorable. Very nice baristas and am glad I stopped in.

Cute coffee shop. I came here years ago as it's one of the few "lgbt cafes" in KC. Yes, I know there are others that are lgbt friendly, but I wanted something in the heart of the scene. The vibe on Sunday afternoon was quiet. No line and lots of empty tables. The menu has classic coffee house favorites. I'd love to see a couple rotating coffee drinks. The cafe feels like it's lost atmosphere since I was in last. Tables all seat 4 (I think). I'd love to see more smaller tables or a community table. Staff is friendly and they have their own parking lot. But I think others park in the lot or it's not monitored. The parking lot was full, yet only two people were inside besides myself.

Unsure if they had more options in the back, but outside of macaroons, no gf options. They do have tea but it's not advertised on their menu. They have such cute teapots and cups for their tea. Had the fig honey latte, they do have either oat or whole milk options. Slightly sweet, and very good. I ended up with almond croissant which was flaky, slightly sweet, and great mouth feel.

I went for the pistachio honey latte (I'm a sucker for pistachio!) and snagged the last veggie quiche of the morning around 11am. Both were absolutely delicious and perfect for breakfast. My friend had the rosewater croissant and a strawberry matcha iced latte--both equally unique and delightful. Despite being a bustling Saturday morning, the staff was incredibly kind and efficient. There's both indoor and outdoor seating, making it a cozy spot no matter the weather. For parking, I'd recommend Westport Road or 40th Street (west of Main) and taking a short walk. Preordering whole quiches, tarts, cookies, cupcakes may require 48 hours' notice. Enchanté is more than just a bakery--it's a little slice of magic in Kansas City. I can't wait to go back and try more seasonal goodies!

To step through its threshold is to surrender to the siren song of warmth that curls from the oven like a whispered secret. I have made it my pilgrimage to traverse the entirety of their menu, a culinary odyssey that has yielded no false steps, only a symphony of consistency that borders on the miraculous. Each offering, from the flaky, golden architecture of their pastries to the robust, honest comfort of their savory fare, is a testament to the artisan's hand. Here, affordability is not a sacrifice of quality but a generous invitation, a rare confluence where the exquisite meets the accessible. There is a certain magic in the air at McLain's, a sweetness that feels woven into the very fabric of the establishment. It is a place that understands the language of comfort, speaking it fluently in the dialect of a perfect crust or the rich, dark notes of a expertly pulled espresso. It is perhaps no surprise that such a bastion of authentic delight has garnered a reputation that extends far beyond our local borders; if the standard of excellence is high enough to grace the plate of Taylor Swift, then surely, it is more than enough for us, the grateful residents who claim this treasure as our own. Yet, beyond the flour-dusted counters and the glowing glass cases, my deepest admiration is reserved for their spirit. In a world that often measures worth in cold, transactional metrics, McLain's chooses to honor those who pour themselves into the future of our community. As a teacher, I feel that recognition in the small gestures, the welcoming nods, and the genuine appreciation they extend to educators. It is a profound kindness, a recognition that the work of shaping minds requires nourishment, both intellectual and literal. They understand that a classroom is a marathon, and they act as the essential pit stop, providing the fuel that keeps the light of inquiry burning bright. To dine at McLain's is to participate in a ritual of belonging. It is a place where the passage of time is marked not by the ticking of a clock, but by the turning of the oven trays. It is a reliable heartbeat in the neighborhood, steadfast and true, offering a reprieve from the clamor of the outside world. Whether one seeks a quiet moment of reflection over a cup of coffee or a celebratory feast that honors the simple, profound joy of eating well, McLain's remains an unrivaled steward of taste. It is not merely a bakery; it is the living, breathing soul of Waldo, a place where every bite serves as a reminder that some things in this life are exactly as good as they ought to be.

A few months ago my sister and I hosted a baby shower for our other sister and after looking around an options we decided to go with McLains. It was a smaller group, and we were doing a brunch theme, and our sister LOVES sweets. That paired with our desire to support local, and our shared love of McLains, this was just the most obvious choice. We ended up ordering a cake and first of all I have to say their cake flavor choices are insane - I think we settled on a chocolate cake with peanut butter filling (YUM), but I don't think you can go wrong here. We also ordered one of their pre-set pastry bundles for pick up and honestly everything was wonderful. I think I placed the order about a week out and it was ready when I came to pick it up. What pushed this experience into five star category for me? Just the friendliness of the staff, the serving tools they send you home with, and how thoughtful everyone was. The food was also really just exactly what we needed and it was so good there were hardly any leftovers, I think the kids cleared us out by lunch! At any rate, if you're on the hunt for a great spot to support for your next brunch event consider McLains - they won't let you down!
