The food was pretty good! Not my fav ever, but pretty good still. The environment was very family friendly- that being said there were LOTS of kids running around and yelling. We enjoyed it but it was still a lot. Service was walk up counter and you have to have a code for the bathroom that only one team member knows and it only works on one of the bathrooms hahah I would recommend just not my favorite spot read more

I'll always love Messengers. I grew up in Nampa and went probably 3 times a week with various friend and church groups. I moved away several years ago and still have dreams about their pizza (I swear) It's a must to visit Messengers when I'm in town. Dare I say they continue to get better and better. I was next-door at PreFunk and from reading other reviews we called and placed an order for a 24 inch NY style Jalapeño Popper Pizza and they brought it to us next-doorl. It was ready within 20 minutes, it was huge, so good and the customer service was excellent! They even brought us paper plates and plenty of Parmesan Cheese and Red Chilli packets. Visiting my man in Idaho, we decided to come here for some pizza since he has come here a handful of times in the past and thought it was pretty good and I agree with him ! We got the large slices of pizza.. he had the pepperoni pizza slices and me being more adventurous, I got the jalapeño popper pizza slices. He went with an IPA beer to drink and I went with an organic chocolate stout beer and we added on the salad bar this visit as well. We enjoyed the ENORMOUS slices of pizza.. the jalapeño popper one was definitely poppin' and it had a great kick to it but I definitely recommend grabbing some water as the heat definitely builds up more than you might expect. The organic chocolate beer was simply delicious!!! I'm such a chocolate lover and this was the PERFECT beer for me! Salad bar was expensive however and left a lot to be desired which is why I took off a star. It's an extremely limited salad bar and it was okay but nothing really wowed us or tasted that fresh in all honesty. Had a some very basic ingredients for salad and some bread sticks and that was the gist of the salad bar. For approximately $12.50 per person I expected more. Also the breadsticks were overly garlicky and flies were circling around that area of the restaurant which made it less appealing. We also got another of our same choices of beers to go and another slice of pizza. I got a bacon apple slice to go and that was also a very tasty flavor!! Definitely a cool place with good pizza, decent beer selections and funky fun artwork ! Cute little spot for friends and family to meet up or for a date night. I struggled when deciding what to rate Messenger Pizza. I landed on a 4 because the taste of the pizza, quality of service and the unique vibe make me want to go back some day. We had not previously seen a cream cheese sauce for pizza before so we gave it a try. It was ok. I might try it again after I have tried others. The pizza crust was cooked perfectly and had great flavor. I'm not a fan and don't fully understand the soda selection. Cans of Shasta? I'd suggest hitting up Costco and offer some variety. My wife had a glass of wine and thought it was pretty good for the price. All in all I'm not likely to go out of my way to eat here again. If I were in the area I wouldn't be against it. So if you are in the area looking for something different when it comes to pizza, I'd suggest giving it a try. read more

We have been wanting to come and try this place and this past Friday was that chance....walking in really liked the vibe of the place where NYC clashes with SF and all the cool eclectic decor. They are a pizza by the slice place, but you can also order your own pie as well. We decided on the Brooklyn Bridge which had salami, roasted red peppers, black olives and we added mushrooms and pepperoni. The reason and the only reason they had a star removed were for 3 things. #1 the reason we got a whole pie instead of a slice was because the by the slice options looked terrible. #2 we have lots of flies this time of year and to watch flies on the inside food case was a huge turn off. #3 was the one of the most un fresh looking salad bar. The pizza was delicious and loved the thin crust...cooked perfectly with a strong undercarriage. Ingredients all blended well and loved the sauce as well. The service was really good! Even though it's a walk up the young guy taking our order was outstanding. Very friendly and outgoing...he made us and the other customers feel very welcome. I was surprised that this place wouldn't be more packed on a Friday night. This is pizza that I would drive out of my way for sure....a few minor tweaks and easily could be a 5 star spot. read more

Wow, this place has really gone down hill!! Used to be one of my favorite places for a huge slice of pizza and a beer. I think yesterday may be my last visit. Came in at 1:15-ish on a Friday. The pizzas they had available for slices looked pretty pathetic. I should have found somewhere else to eat. But I ordered my usual favorite, a slice of jalapeno, pineapple and cream cheese, with a glass of a local Rose. First mistake, should have ordered beer. The guy behind the counter was completely flustered by new wine glasses and how to fill them. And voiced his frustration loud and long enough for me to feel uncomfortable. The wine was fine, but the experience was so not worth it. The pizza, which I know they re-heat, came out so fast that again I should have taken that as a bad sign. The dough was just barely cooked. There was so much cream cheese globbed all over the slice that really the only part that was enjoyable was the crust. Needless to stay, I left hungry and unimpressed by what the employees think is customer service. Too bad because this used to be such a fun place with pizza slices I craved. With the revitalization of downtown Nampa, and the upcoming food scene around, Messenger needs to step up or move out. read more

Hard to find! Located in a 'marketplace' with absolutely NO name outside. Opted for BLTs as pizza appeared to be sold by the HUGE slice. BLTs we're very tasty although they must have been brushed HEAVILY with roasted garlic as they were VERY garlicky ... so much so that they tasted spicy. I accompanied my BLT with a Rogue Brewing Combat Wombat; a NE hazy IPA that leaned heavily sour. Not their best effort. A very casual place. Well this is the first of two experiences. The five star is from a week ago when they fixed a mistake. I ordered an apple bacon pizza and received some sort of chicken bacon ranch pizza which was super tasty but not at all what I ordered. The server repeated back to me the correct pizza. She was super moody the whole time after this. Today gets a one star because when I went in the same moody server was just very abrasive and then gave me the smallest piece in the pie I ordered. Purchased two slices of Hawaiian--one was undercooked and doughy, the other had a hair in it. The ranch tasted watered down. Also purchased a gluten free drunken pig pizza--it was terrible! The crust was thick like a cookie and no flavor, the bacon and fig on top of the pizza was burnt, no flavor at all, besides being burnt. When we took the two slices up they gave us two get a free pizza slice free, but one of them required us to purchase more pizza. I would not recommend at all, waste of time and money. We haven't been in for a few months and was walking around there today shopping. it was a usual crowd and we ordered 2 slices, salad bar and a draft beer. It took 20 minutes to get the 2 slices and the beer as I watched others waiting for their slices and drinks. 4 people working, 1 rewarming the slices, 1 taking orders, 1 running the slices and stuff and the last I don't know what she was doing. The several times we were in before, you ordered, they got your name and order so when it was ready, they called your name and order, usually in 5-7 minutes. Today, the guy ran around asking people what they ordered and people were frustrated as one lady ordered a sandwich and 20 minutes later when she finally received it, it was wrong. it was almost like these 4 workers were all new or clueless or both. A quick slice and soft drink for $6. I tried messenger pizza yesterday while downtown on business. I stopped in and found a whole counter full of slices ready to go. The young man who helped me was very friendly and helpful. I was able to get a quick bite and leave in just a few minutes. My pizza was thin, crispy and very tasty. The food and beer selection was very good. I really enjoyed the local Russian stout they had on tap. It was very busy for a Thursday when we visited. Pizzas are well worth the price. Staff seemed a little overwhelmed but were managing. We ordered two pizzas, a large and a medium. It took about a half hour, which is understandable given how busy they were. The large was very large. I was very impressed with the price point. The only detractions were they set up our order as a to go order in lieu of a for here order, and the trash cans could have been emptied more frequently with as busy as it was. I thought maybe the reason was because they were busy, but when I got there no other patrons were there. I got a half drunken goat & half pepperoni pizza. Pepperoni was ok, nothing special. The drunken goat was strange. I will say the bacon on it had a nice flavor (although undercooked), but for me I didn't like it & nor did my family. They told us 20 minutes to cook but it didn't feel long as we chomped on the salad bar. Cool artwork displayed. I like the brick wall for character. Good selection of beer on tap and to choose from their fridge. Nice big windows to watch the street or the musival instrument and record stores inside the same building. No available parking right in front despite it was a quiet Wednesday night with most of the business closed for the day or loe attendance. We love this place. They have huge slices, mainly made with organic, local ingredients when they can source them. They have a wide array of unique pizzas. The large is feed a family of five large. They have a great salad bar and a good collection of beers. Overall, it's my fave pizza place in the area despite some bumps along the road coping with staffing, hours, and COVID. Messenger seems to have turned the corner on some of the problems it had with staffing issues and seems back to producing delicious pizzas. I wouldn't hesitate to get a to-go pizza from the place. As usual, an assortment of tasty craft beers always gets an arbitrary extra star from me. They've also pivoted to offering sandwiches as well. However, the restaurant is very stuffy and the circulation isn't that great. Suggest if you are planning to stay if you have health concerns to nearer the front door, where the air quality is much better. They should really talk to some of their building folks about the HVAC system. read more

A few accessibility considerations noted later. They've gotten too expensive in my opinion but if you like New York style, (thin-crust & foldable) pizza with not always the typical toppings, I think you'll like this place! When it was about $3-3.50 a slice it was more affordable for a single parent with a couple children to feel like they were able to "eat out" occasionally and not just taco x, x taco or x burger place (& then only if it's with a good coupon or it's their more affordable mini/junior versions that won't actually fill up the bellies of even late elementary-school-age children, let alone teenagers or adults). I did go there again for the first time in at least a year, about a month ago. I think they also still have the large water container so you can get your own glass of (ice) water if you don't want to get one of their various beers on tap or various beverages in a bottle. It seems clean and is child-friendly during the daytime, in my opinion. I have not been there at night or after dark. There always seem to be signs up of local area happenings that are advertised. possible accessibility concerns: I am the weirdo who almost always likes room- temperature water so I usually bring my own everywhere lol. The bathrooms are down and around a corner in the hall I believe, so that is also a possible consideration for accessibility for children and others, if you rightly care about making sure possible predators don't have access as well as people who get turned around in buildings or otherwise getting a bit lost or anxious in transit to and from simply trying to not go on themselves. I don't remember now how loud it is or isn't, if that is a concern for anyone else. I remember the seats being somewhat hard and I'm not sure if there's enough space to get a wheelchair in and out, especially if it's a motorized wheelchair. Maybe it would be worth calling them ahead of time or doing a visit to check it out ahead of going there, if there is someone going who may experience some accessibility issue. and I still miss the piano and can wish it were still there even though pizza fingers and piano don't really seem like they mix well together lol read more
