    Margarita pizza
    Daniel B.

I wanted to like this place, and I went in with high hopes with the 4.6 rating, but it was so bad. The service was horrible, they had us sit down wherever and then took forever to bring us menus. And I'm always willing to forgive bad service if the food is good, but sadly that wasn't the case. I thought it was weird because we ordered drinks and I asked for a Diet Coke and she said oh we have Coke zero and so I said oh that sounds great and my date ordered a Dr Pepper and she didn't tell us that one was fountain, and the other was a can with no refills, not a huge deal but just weird. We then ordered the Pagniotelli, and the bread was really good. We also ordered the Margarita pizza and the Don Ho. It took them forever to get us our order and the table that came in behind us maybe 5 to 10 minutes after us got their pizzas first. Finally, they came out and said that they were backed up because of a ton of to go orders, we hadn't seen one person walk into the place to pick up a go order. I think they just lost the ticket and I would've preferred they just be honest about that because things happen, but again, as long as the food is good I don't care. Finally, the pizzas come out and I love a good coal-fire brick oven pizza where you get a little bit of char on the crust, but our Don Ho was just burnt. And the Margarita pizza was wild. The mozzarella had melted down like they microwaved it way too long and it was just this bubbly mess and the basil was beyond wilted, it was just burnt and sad. I've never seen a Margarita pizza look like that. But looks aren't everything, we went in for the taste test. And I noticed the middle of this super crispy burnt pizza was completely soggy because what they use for sauce was so watery and so flavorless. I honestly think it was just a can of tomato sauce. It had no spices or anything, including the Don Ho, which is pineapple, ham and black olives, and they tasted completely bland, not even some grated cheese and pepper flakes could save these pizzas. I thought maybe it was a one off and I sent the Margarita pizza back not wanting a replacement and she asked what was wrong with it and I said it was way overcooked and bland and she said that's the way we always make it. So this definitely isn't gonna become one of our go to's. Literally one of the most disappointing experiences I've ever had in a restaurant. Which is sad because I was so hungry.

My husband is a pizza junkie and I have probably hit every pizza joint downtown to grab him a slice. He wanted pizza for lunch today. I didn't want to grab him a slice that was previously made and reheated so I stopped into Casanova Pizzeria today. To get to this joint is probably easy but with all the road construction going on, it was a pain to get to today. I finally made it in and I'm happy they have designated parking for their guests. I probably would have left if there wasn't parking. They do have two points of entry, one for dine in and take out. Made my way in and saw how pretty this venue is. I love the big windows and the brightness of the place. It's very spacious with very pretty light fixtures. There was a menu at the register and checked it out while I waited for someone to help me. To be honest, I waited for a hot minute there. It wasn't till another guest that had a pick up order that showed up when the waitress greeted me. I ordered a small pizza with half marinara and half Alfredo sauce with extra cheese for my husband. I was told 20 minutes would be the wait time so I made my way to the gas station across the street real quick to kill some. Made my way back and hung out for about 10 minutes. My pizza was ready in a pretty white box stamped Casanova on it. I looked at it to make sure it was all good and made my way to my husband. The pizza was pipping hot! The crust was golden with some char spots on it. The cheese was beautifully melted in the middle. It was a beautiful pie. I had a small slice cause why wouldn't I? The cheese had a great cheese pull. The slice was thin nad had a nice layer of sauce. The mix of the sauces were perfect! The crust was crusty on the outside but soft and airy in the middle. What I appreciated the most about this pizza is that there wasn't a huge crust to it. You got pieces with minimal crust so you're getting to enjoy all the goodness of the sauce and cheese. This joint is legit good. It's not the cheapest pizza but you are definitely getting your money's worth. I don't know when we will be back but if it's soon it will definitely be a date night spot for us. I look forward to eating another pie and trying one of their salads.

Huge ranch salad. I love they mix up the dressings before they bring it out

Come Hungry & Leave Happy! Really impressed with this place! The restaurant has a fun atmosphere with great views, and the layout is well thought out--takeout has a separate entrance, so you don't have to weave through diners if you're just picking up food. 100% 5 service all round from the servers, to cooks, and take out! My wife and I shared a salad, and it was massive--we were still eating it the next day! The pizzas are great too, and we loved that you can split the pies, even with different sauce bases. We couldn't decide, so we went half red sauce, half olive sauce, and it was perfect. Also, big plus that a lot of their wines are from Italy! Can't wait to come back.

    Cheese pizza/ Caesar Salad

Casanova Pizza is hands down my favorite pizza spot in Boise. The crust is absolutely perfect every single time. Light, crisp, and beautifully balanced with just the right chew. The sauce actually tastes like real tomato and complements the crust instead of overpowering it. They also understand restraint. The toppings and cheese are high quality and never overloaded, which lets the pizza itself shine. And the Caesar salad? Truly the best in the Treasure Valley. Fresh, crisp romaine, bold flavorful dressing, and the perfect parmesan finish. It's one of those places where you crave both the pizza and the salad equally. I come here weekly with my son and it never misses. Consistent, classic, and done right every time. Boise is lucky to have Casanova.

Not sure how this place got 4.6 stars. We tried four different pizzas and all were horrible. Super floppy

When we visited here last weekend, my wife realized this was reincarnated from its days on Vosta Ave! We stopped in around 2 PM for a late lunch early dinner thing. The only odd thing is the parking. Limited on the street but you can park in the parking lot at the end of the building. That said, the pizza is amazing. We had the Mondo with added Jalapeño and fresh basil. Not a crumb was left. Crust was perfection. Having travelled to Italy last year, we loved the amount of Italian wines they offered. Service was excellent. Eva was a blast to talk to and she had such a great personality. This alone will be reasons we will return when we are near the Boise area. Oh, and the artwork you can see at the top of my picture was done by her. Didn't know that when photo was taken. Glad we now know this place is back in operation. You will love the food!

First the staff was amazing. Justin is so personable and easy to have a great conversation! We met the owner who was friendly and just a pleasure to meet. The food was fantastic! We will be going back many more times I'm sure. Try it you won't be disappointed!!

We wanted to try this place out based on reviews we had saw. The Caesar salad portion was a good size and cheese bread was tasty. The pizza was just ok. The second Pizza had burnt crust as you can see in the pic. What was Really lacking was the service. They need More than one waiter. Took forever to order and forever to pay.

The service was fast, as we didn't wait the full 45 minutes before being seated. Upon walking in you see an upscale modern atmosphere, and date night ambiance. I felt underdressed as usual in my shorts, but was welcomed nonetheless. We ordered the potato fingerlings, because when in Boise you order potatoes. However I wasn't much of a fan, tasted more like grocery store potato wedges. The other appetizer was the meatballs, which is served with a garlic bread I wish I had an entire loaf of. It was really good and though it seems small it was good enough when cut up, maybe it could've done with 1 more meatball and definitely some more bread. For dinner the kid had a half cheese half crispy pepperoni pizza, which of course he didn't like, not like the chain pizza shops he's used to but I had some and it was delicious. He did like the crust, and still ate a couple sliced. I shared a half Bronco, half Honey Badger pizza with the missus. Everything was good, but the honey badger's grilled onions overwhelmed the taste. My favorite was the Bronco which our California transplant server recommended. It had a nice spice to it that hits the back of your throat just enough to wake you up but not enough to have you reaching for a drink. I already recommended this place to friends that live in the area. That's this critic's review, until next time, I'll be eating.

Yet I wanted to experience their take on Detroit pizza one last time before they lock the doors for good. Yesterday, I called to order a Detroiter pizza, my go-to pie since they opened, for takeout. The woman who answered the phone asked to put me on hold for a "short wait." Ten minutes later I was still on hold and hung up. Today, I decided to try again. I called at around the same time, 4:30 p.m., which normally has not been a busy time there before the dinner rush starts. This time, I was told to call back. What? So I went online and ordered there for pickup. I got an email back immediately, saying my order had been submitted but that it wasn't confirmed until I got a second email with my pickup time. More than an hour later, I'm still waiting for that second email. What a horrible operation they've become. Their pizza was excellent in the beginning and I didn't mind driving across town to a convenient location near the airport to pick up one of their pizzas. But as their quality slipped, I found myself going there less and less. Today's failure will be the last time I try before they close forever. All I have is the memories from better days.
