I wanted to love this place. We ordered our steaks medium rare and had to send them back *twice* - at first for being well done. On the third try, one steak was ok, and the other was rare/blue. The quality of the beef was bad. The server was really excellent, but she apparently had to argue with the owner to even give us a discount. Next time, we'll just go to Club LaCon. Sent back to the kitchen, and came back on the same plate, and still not cooked all the way through. there isn't a manager there - the owners (husband and wife) husband was in the kitchen cooking, and wife at the bar. Neither one came to the table to talk to us. Had to pay because waitress didn't care - she was on her way out already to another job in Pekin. 2 1/2 hours later, I paid $20 for a salad and corn. We drove over an hour to have fried chicken and were not disappointed. They had so many other tempting dishes we also ordered the meat loaf. I had made a reservation for a Sunday afternoon but they weren't busy at 2pm. They added our name to the menu to welcome us! Nice touch. We were more than surprised with this place. Supper club in central IL with better than supper club choices. If you are in the area it's a must go! We did make a reservation for Friday night and good thing we did, they were packed. Everything was great supper club food. I would recommend the fried pickles and duck wonton appetizers. Although beware because the entree alone is a lot of food. You get soup or salad. The cruise salad is the way to go. Loved it with honey mustard dressing. On a Friday, go with the fish. Nice white fish. You will be served a vegetable of your choice along with bread and a fritter (almost like dessert- think mini donuts from the state fair). So much food. Loved the ambience. In the menu it states fried chicken takes 40 minutes, which I understand. We ordered at 7pm and got our food at 8:05pm, after we commented because the table next to us that ordered 20 minutes after we did had already received their chicken. When we brought this to the waitress attention, we were told that they got slammed at 6pm and their kitchen was behind. Doesn't explain why the other table got their chicken before us. We were also told that they don't like to turn people away, so food takes longer to get implying that we were lucky to get a table. The food was just ok. The chicken came out over cooked and soggy like it had been sitting. We have been here years before, but quality has changed ands will not be back. Good but not great. Was pleasantly surprised by their craft beer list upon being seated and loved the window view offered by most seats. The bread was delicious and so was the homemade soup. My husband got the Nashville hot chicken. While it was very hot, it was nothing fancy and I like spicy but it was not very enjoyable. I had the catfish and asked for blackened which apparently meant blackened and still panko. Was disappointing as I don't like a lot of bread. Had higher expectations for our entrees. Our last visit several years ago was not good. We decided to try again because it used to be good chicken. Pros- chicken was awesome. Even the dark meat was almost white. Onion rings were great. Server was awesome. Cons-mashed potatoes were overbearing with garlic. Corn fritter have been fried twice. They were hard and unappetizing. We ordered the shrimp cocktail special for $9.99. The catfish was tasted like it was fried in very old oil. The fried mushrooms were like tiny little rubber balls. There were nasty bugs in the ceiling lights. Floor looked as though it hadn't been vacuumed in days. I showed the waitress the lights. She pulled back light cover and about 50 dead lady bugs fell on the floor. The chocolate chip fritter? You could break a window with those fritters, and they tasted like old fish. Ewwwweee!!Nasty! We complained and said we would pay for nasty mushrooms. They made us pay 32.00. I hadn't been to the Duck Inn for some time, but my sister and I stopped by last weekend. We've frequented this restaurant for years and decided it was time to see what changes had been made under the new ownership. We were not disappointed! The pleasant atmosphere remained the same, as did the friendly and accommodating service. We both ordered the chicken dinner and it was generous and delicious. The traditional corn fritter accompanied the meal, and our chosen side of homemade coleslaw was an appetizing change from the pre-made slaw served at most restaurants. I'm eager to try the catfish! We traveled to Midway Duck Inn after hearing about it from friends. It is a rustic small building that seats about 75 people. We went during the middle of summer and they had a beautiful flower garden with bird feeders right outside of the window where we were seated. We saw many colorful finches and several hummingbirds close up. The waitresses wear camouflage and I kept waiting for the Duck Dynasty dudes to come in and get a beer. Our waitress was super friendly. I had the catfish and my husband had the famous fried chicken. It was a huge, meaty catfish and very tasty. The chicken was great too, crispy and not greasy. Stopped on our way home after the Peoria TT Nationals. When we arrived the joint was 1/3 empty, we got there just in time before the dinner rush. We were seated immediately. Lovely decor. Loved the hummingbirds that we could see on the window feeders. 3/4 of us ordered the Sunday Chick Special and all I heard was rave reviews. I ordered the Catfish, and it was delicious. We ordered appetizers, cheesy garlic bread, 1/2 order of breaded mushrooms and corn fritters. I didn't try the mushroom (allergic) but I heard they were delicious. The cheesy garlic bread is 4 big slices and 1 per person is sufficient. The gem is the corn Fritters. Delicious, yummy and "mmmmm" were my exact responses. mmmm...i've been going to the duck inn for 31 years :) they have always had the best fried chicken and even though the owners have changed and things aren't like they used to be, i still enjoy going for the nostalgia of days gone. i think the burgers are amazing (and you can choose your own toppings), the onion tanglers are a tastier alternative to onion rings and the corn fritters are a MUST! if they don't come with your meal, order them on their own and eat 'em while they're HOT! so yummy! down-home service, a tasty cocktail or beer and a beautiful view of the sun setting on the illinois river--can't beat it! read more

I have gone to Duck Inn for 50 yrs. but the latest ownership change Jan of 2018 has not proven beneficial. The only good thing added was cards are now accepted, the menu has changed and not for the better. Our latest visit we arrived at 3:50pm and was told the kitchen would be ready in a half hour, with an opening time of 3pm they should be ready and cooking, we had to wait while they made coleslaw. The special country fried steak was tough and much smaller than with previous owners. Just not the same place, maybe will try again in a couple yrs, they missed the mark on all fronts. read more
