My air -conditioning stopped working and I needed a new complete system. Called 2 other places and the quotes I received were much higher then Darren at Metro-Air. They told me they could come on Thursday 9:00 am to 9:30 am to install the complete system and it would only take one day.Well at 9:10 -2 trucks came and 3 workers.They installed the complete system took everything away and the new system works great Marcus called to help me get my $500.00 rebate from Duke-Energy and also called Trane to register my equipment for the full 10 year warranty. Pretty good service- easy to schedule and good communication. But.... VERY EXPENSIVE for the work that I had done. I called because the fan on my cooling unit wouldn't stop running. I assumed that it was a problem with the thermostat. I'm out of town, but we made the appointment and the technician had key access to my condo. After assessing, he determined that I had a faulty relay switch. He wanted to come back the next day to install it and when I explained to him that I had painters working and needed to check with them to be sure that he wouldn't be in their way, he explained that it was a very quick job and that he only needed about 10 minutes to install it. I cleared it with the painters, the technician came back and installed the relay switch, and at the end of it all, I got stuck with a bill for $402.00. I was stunned to stay the least. A 10 minute job with a $20.00 part cost $303.00 and they added a $99.00 fee for the original service call for a grand total of $402.00. Apparently service diagnostics cost extra? I feel totally taken advantage of and want everyone to know to BEWARE. read more

I had other estimates for service that were very disappointing because everyone of them just wants to sell an entire new system. Where do I start! I purchase a new AC from them back in 2013. The service from Dennis, the former owner was excellent. A couple of weeks ago, one of the pipe from the air handler got disconnected and it was held only by the foam and tape. Well, we had water damage. I now have a claim with insurance with a $500.00 deductible. So I thought, well, Metro Air should fix this free of charge as it was their installation and it cause water damage and is costing me money. Well, Nicole from the office is playing smart ass with me. Here is a copy of her response to me by text " (1) Dennis retired 6+ years ago (2) Darren, his son, is now the owner and will call you. (3) I have in my records the install was in 2013 and that we were there last October for a new fan motor - that was covered under warranty. I don't understand why your upset with us? (4) We would never use tape on the pipe, and if we did it never would have lasted that long. I don't know what to say? Do you want me to call Blake off and not have him come? I am very sorry that happened to you. That is a glued joint that came undone, you can see the glue mark on the pipe. The tape goes on the outside of the black insulation. A glued joint does not just come undone unless it is hit or bumped. ME-Of course you will find excuses. We are 2 adults living here part-time and this is in a closet/ closed space. Don't worry next time i'll think of another company. Metro air is lucky you had taped it as the damage would have been worst. I do not wish to waste my time with you. I am sorry you feel that way. The pipe was clearly glued and came undone. You can see by the marks on the pipe where the glue was. It is in no way an excuse. Its obvious it was glued. No way tape would hold for 9 years. Maybe you should ask who is doing the bathroom renovation if they hit it. They have to cut the water off sometimes and the shut off is on top of the water heater in most condos." SERIOUSLY! Metro Air - Heating & Air Conditioning/HVAC Near Me - Largo, Florida

I do not recommend Metro Air. This was the worst experience I have had with a service provider. I scheduled a $99 service call because my HVAC was not cooling. The rep came out and said he wanted to first cool down the compressor because it was hot. He proceeded to hang my garden hose over the compressor and let the water run over it. He let the water run for a long while and said that the compressor was not cooling down and he didn't know what the issue was. Then he said I might just need a new HVAC. He called his headquarters to get a quote for a new HVAC system and proceeded to explain to me the price options for a new installation. Then he charged me $99 for the service call - as agreed - plus $152 for "additional labor". I questioned the charge with his manager and he said that the rep was there for extra time and that is why they charged more labor. However, the "labor" he actually did was pour water for an extremely long time. He didn't even diagnose the actual problem, just said that I should get a new HVAC. At no time did he inform me that there would be any charge above the originally agreed $99. As a professional, if he was going to go above the agreed amount, he would need to discuss that with me as the customer in advance to get approval for any additional costs. I requested a refund of the "additional labor" costs and his manager refused, then he simply stopped communicating with me. I suspect this would be the same behavior someone could expect when Metro Air does an actual HVAC installation worth thousands of dollars: Charge you more than agreed, and then if anything is questioned or challenged, they just stop communicating with you and you are stuck. Every day I regret that I contacted Metro Air. After that horrible experience, I contacted another HVAC company that was the perfect example of professionalism, ethical business practices, and customer-oriented service. I am very pleased with the work the other company did and I will continue to use them for any future HVAC, plumbing, and electrical work. Never again Metro Air!! read more

A local small business that you will love to support! Darren the second generation owner, learned good old fashion excellence in treating their customers' well. Competitive pricing, actually came in almost 1500 less than a large chain store. Most of the estimates I got stated how much for air handler and AC unit. Darren gave a complete estimate on exactly what was going to be done. How the unit would be strapped down to vacuuming down to at least 450 microns. He also completely outlined the warranty Workers came on time, completed the work within the specified time. And, not only did they clean up their mess, but swept out my whole garage! Darren also came by to make sure I was happy with his worker. If you need AC replacement Metro Air is the way to go! read more
