    Meat lovers Scramble

Servers are very nice. The meat lovers scramble was excellent. Cute neighborhood diner. Casual place and glad it's in my neighborhood!

We got Metro Diner to go for brunch the other day. I tried the club sandwich and my fiancé got the French toast. We both loved the food and will definitely be back!

Love the location in San Marco. The area is so cute

My absolute favorite Metro Diner! This is a must anytime I come to Jacksonville. They always have a wait but it moves pretty quick. It's the original location so it's much smaller than the newer location. Staff is so nice and always friendly in conversation. Food is cooked to order and coffee is fresh and hot. I tried the snickerdoodle coffee today and it was delicious. Fried chicken Benedict: very flavorful and filling. I ordered with a side of home fries ( potatoes) and left full as a tick lol! Chicken and waffles : you can get with white or dark meat and comes with a waffle with strawberry butter and a sweet and hot maple syrup which is sooooo good. Always a great choice !

Absolutely delicious. Love that is was the first location. Such a sweet little spot. Staff was so quick and helpful. Cannot wait to come back!

Food is always delicious! Servers are always courteous and attentive. Although all the servers are great, Hannah, Trevor, Rocky, stick out to me and always hope we get them as our servers. Go to food is usually bissel breakfast or something on their specials board. Around thanksgiving- get the stuffin' waffle with turkey. The hubs go to is fried chicken benedict, 3 egg breakfast, or meat lovers omelet. The space is cozy, can be loud depending on the customers, and bright. The bar area is fist come first serve. See the hostess for booths and tables. I have to add a shout out to the kitchen staff: Dez, General Manager Jen, Evens, and Antwan!! Christian who was supporting with the prep. You all work with such efficiency that it's astonishing to watch you all work. You all are a blessing to this restaurant and customers. Thank you!!

Three-egg breakfast with bacon, hash browns, and rye toast.

LOVE a classic diner, and this is exactly that. Stopped in late on a Saturday and the place was pretty empty. Ordered the three-egg breakfast with bacon, hash browns, rye toast, and OJ. Pretty much my standard breakfast, and it did not disappoint. Chamil, my server, was on the ball, and took great care of me. Great vibe, good music in the background, quaint setting. Will definitely be back.

First, this place is busy. I don't consider a Friday morning to be anything special but they had takeout orders out the window when I walked in. I got a seat though. Cute homey place to escape the rain and typically has a patio when not rained out. They also have seating in the back. Started off with the seasonal pumpkin iced brew, this thing is bomb. Better than anything Starbucks will put out. And they have other seasonal specials that start at ten bucks like pumpkin poncakes. I already knew I was gonna get chicken n waffles. Appreciate the calorie count on the menu but sadface as I literally am over my limit with that one meal, it's 2170 for that dish. If only I were a dude and not a small female. That's the highest calorie menu option, lucky me as that's my go to breakfast/brunch entree...oh well, won't be back in Jax for any reason any time soon. This chicken bro. I took one bite and I about melted. This is some crispy delicious unhealthy fried chicken. Please come here if you have one restaurant to visit in Jax. The strawberry butter too. Goodness gracious. Never will I find chicken and waffle that compares. Even better than Maple Street from six days ago. And my bill says this whole entree is like eleven bucks what the heck. Six full stars. Just come here. End of story. You will only regret the scale readout the next day but who cares.

Description This is a breakfast spot in Jacksonville that had good reviews and since we're not from here we were like let's give it a try. It's a small diner nothing compared to the big chains like dennys or ihop which are larger in size but the place is definitely worth a try in my opinion. What I ordered Chicken and waffles, biscuits and gravy, orange juice, tea, waffles, eggs Benedict with fried chicken and hash browns, huevos rancheros, and waffles. Everything was delicious. Everyone was very satisfied with the ordered items. The shocker was the chick and waffles. It's not like the chicken I'm used to seeing there was actual chicken wings and chicken breast which was breaded and fried and delicious. Value Everything was a decent price it wasn't pricey and the food was filling enough. One plate per person had everyone full for a while. Ambiance/Crowd It is kid friendly, there were people of all ages here and it was a casual style such as jeans and leggings. Service The service was really good no complaints about this the waitress was super kind and helpful in explaining things on the menu and knowing what the pictures items on the menu are. Parking There is a small parking area right in front of the restaurant that was full when we got there but there's a sign that says more parking available at the church but we parallel parked and walked. All the parking seems to be free. 4 year olds thought corner He gave a thumbs up to the waffles which he drenched in syrup and even liked the chicken from the chicken and waffles that were ordered.

I came in this past holiday weekend with my wife, daughter, and in-laws. It was fairly busy but we were seated quickly. A little later on I did see folks showing up and having to wait. My wife went back the following day and said it wasn't as busy, so it can be hit or miss how busy it gets. The parking lot is almost non-existent. Maybe 8 cars fit next to the diner, but there is ample street parking, so don't let that deter you. Service was almost perfect. Our server was friendly, quick, and only forgot one thing during our visit. I had the steal and hash brown bowl. It was solid, albeit I do wish they had different sauces to choose from besides hollandaise. I also tasted the pancakes, biscuit, and some scrambled eggs. Everything was pretty good with solid portions for the size. I was expecting the atmosphere to be a bit bougie due to the location but it seems a lot of regular folks stop in. I would come back here again and try some other items.

    Kate S.

I ate here with my son and mom while visiting from out of town. Our server was so sweet and helpful. I had the bacon avocado scramble bowl which was great. Would come here again when back in town.

You have to order inside and then head to a table with your number and the servers will bring it to you. With a party of 5, our food came out in good time and we got an array of items-- from a breakfast croissant sandwich to little pastries, everything was wonderful. Most of us ended up trying their seasonal matcha drink which was a linzer matcha that came with black cherry and a pistachio cold foam. It has a specific taste but I liked it a lot! It's not a mix of flavors I'd normally think of but I ended up finishing my drink which I don't always do, even with matcha drinks. The croissants & bread were fresh and each dish was beautifully plated. I love a dish that both looks good and tastes good and it delivered both. The outdoor patio is covered and a great spot to enjoy your meal if the weather is beautiful and breezy which is was the day we dined here. The inside is also such a cute vibe. Such a great spot and will definitely be back if I'm in the area!

When we arrived, we found this pleasant environment with ample seating outside. As we began to review the menu, the manager of the shop was very friendly and helpful in navigating their menu. Ultimately, I decided to sample the bacon, egg, and cheese wrap. It was quite good. I believe they used a cheddar that was a bit strong for my taste and would have preferred some milder cheese options (like provolone). Regardless, it was tasty. My only complaint (and this may be specific to me) is that they did not have a cola flavored diet drink to offer. Yes, I admit, I need my Diet Coke with my meal. So, I had to walk around the corner and find a place to sell me a soda. Other than that, a great option for a meal.

We loved the gambas al ajillo -- the shrimp had great flavor and just the right amount of heat -- and the grilled sourdough was perfect for soaking up every bit of the delicious sauce. A few things fell short, though. Our table for two felt cramped, especially since it was positioned directly against a wooden divider. I was facing the back of the restaurant, so as right-hander, sitting up against the wall felt awkward and made the space feel even tighter. I'm a huge fan of seafood stews and almost always order them when I see one on the menu, so I was looking forward to the Sicilian Stew. While the overall flavor was good, it leaned a bit too salty for my taste. More disappointing was the fish itself -- it seemed cooked down and stirred into the broth to the point where it acted more like a thickener than a distinct part of the dish. I would have preferred visible pieces of fish with more texture and presence. Overall, the staff was warm and attentive, the service was excellent, and the food arrived promptly. Despite a few drawbacks, I'd still be open to giving Taverna another try in the future.

When visiting Jacksonville for work, I was on the lookout for great restaurants around St Johns…read moreTown Center as my hotel and the work office was in the vicinity. Reservations can be made via OpenTable, and I saw this suggested on Yelp so I decided to try one evening. Upon arriving, I marveled at the beauty of the interior design of the bottom floor that also serves as a gallery. I ascended the staircase as the restaurant is on the third floor. I dined alone as this trip I didn't have a coworker with me, but I still was seated in a cozy corner to take it all in. Isaac, my waiter, was incredibly friendly, and ensured I had everything I needed. What I Ordered: - Caesar Salad: This salad is as pretty good, but at a price point of $19, I would likely skip if dining here again. Though, it did have the perfect hint of lemon for acidity and the croutons tasted house-made. Perhaps if you added a protein, this could become your main dish and elevate it. - Lobster Roll: $36 for a lobster roll?! I was intrigued as this was noted as a signature dish and a standout for what this location is known for... and boy was I IMPRESSED! The roll was perfectly toasted, and the lobster to roll ratio was absolute perfection. The flavor of the lobster was juicy and tasted fresh. This roll was so good that even the neighboring table as they left asked how I enjoyed it. They were recognized by staff, so I believe they are regulars. We all discussed how delicious it was and I shared my thoughts on the execution of lobster to bread ratio. I dined here a couple weeks ago, and I'm still thinking about where in Arizona I'll ever find a roll as decadent. - Cappuccino: a mark of a truly well-crafted cappuccino is the sugar test. Will the foam withstand the weight of sugar or will it sink to the bottom (poorly frothed)? I had ordered and didn't realize they would put a design on top! Visually stunning, and happy to report they make a beautiful cappuccino with delightful foam. Added pictures to showcase the design they added, and the sugar test. The rooftop has stunning views, and the food is a work of art as well. Though I had a lighter dinner with a salad + lobster roll, I was impressed with the meal and would return to try more of the menu if I visit for business or personal reasons in the future. This area has lots of restaurants, but this one definitely leaves an impression and draws this foodie back in to return. Check it out if you are in the area!

Service was attentive and gracious. I started with a rose spritz, the avocado carpaccio, and the half roast chicken. The spritz was a delight. Not too sweet, very refreshing. The carpaccio was amazing with the smoked salt, and the briny caviar. My friend ordered the chips and dip, and heaven on earth is combining the two appetizers (a chip topped with avocado and then a dollop of creme fraiche/caviar). The chicken was okay. I should have gone with something else, but I panic-ordered. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't remarkable. I should have gone with a fancy salad or the lobster roll. My second drink, a glass of rose, was okay but wasn't served ice cold, a disappointment. I shared a chocolate chip cookie at the end of the meal, and it was absolutely delicious. I'd happily return with that crew of ladies, and I'd happily recommend this place for a date night.
