I stopped by secret Café on a Friday morning around 11 o'clock. I've been craving pancakes for about a week. And their pancakes are so delicious. Every bite is soft and fluffy and the edges were crisp, which is very important to me. My main course was a Philly cheesesteak and it was loaded with peppers, onions and cheese. The bread was super soft and warm. Omg it was so good....delectable. For my side I chose café potatoes, they're pretty good but I wish they were a little more crispy. The waiter really made my day. She was super cool, very attentive and provided great customer service. She even offered a way to make our bill cheaper. All about saving money. Hands-down, one of my favorite brunch spots I come here pretty often and I'll be back soon. You should definitely try it out if you're in the area.

Griddle Platter

Absolutely loved this spot! I have been looking for a good breakfast cafe on the Southside of Jax and this one definitely meets the mark. Server was very friendly but a little slower when it came to taking my order and bring the check. However, the food made up for all of this. The food came out quick and it was amazing. My favorite thing was the strawberry pancakes!

Oh my goodness guys! You have to eat here. The food was so good. I got the secret garden bene and my husband got the griddle?? Not 100% sure. Our serve Dominique was so lovely. She was easily one of the best servers we've ever had. Odd thing to say.. it was the perfect temp inside and the place was quiet and decorated some beautifully. We loved it.

The food was very good nothing too exciting but it was enjoyable and the service was really nice

The food served was very good and truly enjoyable, complemented by very nice and sweet service.

I hadn't been to Secret Garden Cafe in years. But I was looking for a relatively quick breakfast spot that wouldn't be too crowded. They had all the usual options for breakfast - French toast, pancakes, waffles, egg dishes, and breakfast platters. They also had a kids menu. They had a few options for mimosas as well. We got vegetarian omelettes with turkey sausage added, which also came with bread and we got biscuits. The home fries were our side. We tried the waffles with eggs and turkey sausage, and a kids 1/2 waffle with turkey sausage. The food was excellent! The waffle was large and slightly crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside. The vegetarian omelette was actually well seasoned and the turkey sausage added offered flavor. The portions were great, even with the kids meal. All of us had leftovers. We had a great breakfast here!

Fried Green Tomatoes

I used to go here fairly often when I lived in Jacksonville. The place does not seem to have changed much. It is clean and inviting. I always loved their Fried Green Tomatoes. They are still great. Sweet pickled red onions and a red pepper remoulade compliment the perfectly fried tomatoes covered in goat cheese. The service was excellent.

Nommmmmiiesss! Secret Garden is the spot for a delicious breakfast and terrific service. Nothing crazy fancy over here--just straight up good eats. The team there is hospitable and welcoming. You can feel the friendly vibes as soon as you walk in. Ellie!! You're the best. Scott and Evangeline are always awesome. Everything we ordered was good--but I had total food envy. My friend's corned beef hash was yummm! I will definitely be ordering that next time. One of my favorite things about Secret Garden are the number of regulars--I think that says a lot about a spot. Put Secret Garden on your breakfast places to eat.

Griddle platter with Caramel Pecan French toast

Walking through the door you're greeted by the staff letting you know to sit at a table that you're comfortable at. Eli (pronounced Ellie) was our server whom was great by the way. Customer service was spectacular and her sweet tooth was spot on. The caramel pecan French toast was delicious to the point everyone had to try. The strawberries with pecan was good but definitely recommend caramel pecan on your choice of whatever you desire.

Farmer Platter was delicious. The only thing that wasn't perfect was my waffle. It was nice, not crowded yet since it was Easter.

Everything was good other than sending my waffle back for a fresh hot one to go Along with my tasty grits and juicy turkey link sausage. It's a nice spot and very laid-back atmosphere.

Veggie Hot mess and cornbeef and hash
Tonjameka S.

We decided to visit this place for brunch after church. We were able to walk right in and sit down. We were greeted at the door. We ordered the veggie mess with a croissant and corn beef hash adding a pancake. The croissant was split and warm grilled(which was nice with strawberry jelly). The corn beef hash was made in house and was good. The veggie mess was good. The eggs and veggies were cooked tender. The pancake had no flavor but the cinnamon butter tried to correct that. Pancake not so good. The restaurant was clean. The wait staff was friendly

Greeted and told to sit where I liked upon entry. My server came over with a menu and took my coffee order shortly afterward. I ordered the griddle platter which includes 2 pancakes, your choice of meat, 2 eggs, and your choice of side - I chose breakfast potatoes. All cooked perfectly. I love the honey/cinnamon butter served with the pancakes. The coffee is pretty good as well. The ambiance gives community cafe vibes, nothing fancy or polished but it's the perfect spot for a homestyle Sunday brunch.

Veggie Hot Mess

Loved our breakfast here! Staff is super welcoming and friendly and let us sit at a table of our choice. Service was super fast as well. The veggie hot mess bowl was so good- the potatoes were seasoned so well and super crispy. The classic pancakes were the size of the plate, steaming hot, and super fluffy. The cinnamon butter they come with was so good. I also loved the fried green tomato BLT but just wish the sandwich was a little bit bigger- its perfect for a light meal though. We will definitely be back when in Jacksonville!

You have to order inside and then head to a table with your number and the servers will bring it to you. With a party of 5, our food came out in good time and we got an array of items-- from a breakfast croissant sandwich to little pastries, everything was wonderful. Most of us ended up trying their seasonal matcha drink which was a linzer matcha that came with black cherry and a pistachio cold foam. It has a specific taste but I liked it a lot! It's not a mix of flavors I'd normally think of but I ended up finishing my drink which I don't always do, even with matcha drinks. The croissants & bread were fresh and each dish was beautifully plated. I love a dish that both looks good and tastes good and it delivered both. The outdoor patio is covered and a great spot to enjoy your meal if the weather is beautiful and breezy which is was the day we dined here. The inside is also such a cute vibe. Such a great spot and will definitely be back if I'm in the area!

Even though we had a reservation, it didn't seem to make a difference. We waited about 15 minutes just to find a host or hostess to be seated. During that time, we saw several other groups leave because no one was available to greet or seat them. It wasn't the best first impression and definitely set the tone for the visit. Once we were seated, the food was excellent. You can really tell that everything is made from scratch, and the quality and freshness stood out. The Garlic Parmesan Brussels Sprouts, topped with garlic aioli and Parmesan cheese, were delicious and packed with flavor. I also ordered the Kale Caesar Salad with grilled chicken, which was fresh and well-balanced with house greens, Parmesan cheese, and Caesar vinaigrette. My little ones ordered the Crispy Southern Fried Chicken Fingers with fries, and they both really enjoyed their meals. Overall, the food was definitely the highlight of our visit, but the service and lack of organization upon arrival could use improvement. If they can address the front-of-house experience, it would make for a much better visit.

I ordered from the Dynamic Duo (sandwich & soup combo) menu. I picked the Reuben and Chicken Tortilla Soup because it's been a minute since I've had either. The Reuben was good with my one critique being that I could've used a little more Thousand Island on it. The soup was good as well and not too spicy. I always order Chicken Tortilla and hope for the best because I've had it swing way past my threshold for heat but this didn't. It has a kick for sure but not too bad. My wife ordered the Hot Honey Chicken & Yolk Biscuit Sandwich. She really liked it with the biscuit itself exceeding what she expected. Like me, her only small issue with that she liked that hot honey so much, she would've liked a little more on it. That's something she knows to ask for next time though, so no biggie. We sat at the bar and service was great from everyone we interacted with. This was out third time here since they opened. My wife pointed out that she liked her first visit and this one better than the second. She had a regular platter the second time, so she thinks sticking with their specialties is the best way to go. Update 6/22/2026:…read more Met up with a colleague for lunch and this place never fails me! The owner and staff are wonderful people working hard to bring the Hawaiian-Filipino taste to the Jax Community! Reminds me of when I visited Hawaii in the past and I just miss the islands! It was during early lunch so it was quiet at first but later saw folks coming through for lunch. My colleague never had Hawaiian food so the owner and I recommended a few dishes -- he chose the Loco Moco, Hawaiian-comfort food. I missed the garlic shrimp back then, and so luckily they had it in the menu -- Hawaiian Fried Garlic Shrimp!!! It was fantastic! The savory and super garlicky taste of those fried shrimps (yes, they had the shells still on, but that's the best part). The shells were crispy/fried enough and covered in the garlicky sauce that you can just eat it. Some folks may have other opinions, but I'm used to eating it this way in my culture as well. The fiesta rice was seasoned well and the Hawaiian Mac Salad was wonderfully semisweet and seasoned well too. Always great vibes by the decor and the owners!

My favorite was probably the pork skewers appetizer: two smallish skewers for $5.16. I'd put it…read moreslightly ahead of the short ribs. The latter was $19.65 for the Fiesta Plate. I didn't like the sides on the Fiesta Plate that much (macaroni salad, which my wife didn't like, rice, salad), though the salad was pretty good. It also had a piece of fried chicken; I thought it was nice, my wife not so much, but neither of us thought it was up to Jollibee (admittedly, a high standard). I had a taste of the pancit bihon, which was more strongly flavored than any I've had before, and not a favorite. Servings are smallish, so I don't think that Fiesta Plate is a good value. They close too early at night: 8 PM on a Friday. The setting is simple. Some of the seating looked uncomfortable, e.g. a bench or tables along the wall with wood at your back. We got a table with four plastic chairs, however, which was comfortable. Our server was very nice and friendly, though she had more work than she could handle without issues. They add 3.5% (reflected in the prices above), for using credit cards. With a soda ($3.36 for a can) and tip, the total for two shared courses came to $35.
