First time visit and was pleasantly surprised with the price, the decor, the food and service. Unfortunately didn't get photos, but everyone in the party had nothing but phrase for their breakfast. Serving size was well over the usual at a reasonable price. The only real ding IMHO was the self service of drinks and having to get up and refill your coffee during the meal. This is an order at the counter place. I've had breakfast here several times and today was my first time for lunch. I had the fall salad which was beautifully presented. It had two scoops of chicken salad, mandarin, oranges, almonds, raspberry vinegar et and other tasty things. I also had an order of the Italian wedding soup. It was flavorful with the little meatballs and orzo. My dining companion had an Aji tuna wrap, which was delicious and a Caesar salad again beautifully presented we will be back. read more

This is a great little diner at end of strip of stores at corner of baymeadows & southside blvd, across from Publix. I was super happy with my visit, the food was delicious, I almost always order biscuits and gravy when i try a new place for breakfast, and the Deerwood bistro did not disappoint. I ordered the large biscuit & sausage gravy breakfast which comes with 2 biscuits covered with the gravy as topped with 3 eggs and with 2 sausage patty's, i also ordered a side of grits. The gravy was full of sausage and seasoned well served on homemade biscuits that were fluffy, my eggs were cooked perfectly, over easy with runny yolks and the grits were stone ground and also yummy. You order at the front counter and find a seat and are quickly served a fantastic meal, the ladies working there were very nice and attentive, they seemed happy to be there. The restaurant was so clean it shined! Seriously I know this is silly but even the salt and pepper shakers were clean and the table was shiny. So fresh and perfectly prepared. The Roasted Turkey Sandwich was absolutely delightful. Beautiful fresh thin sliced RoastedTurkey breast with fresh tomato and lettuce, Swiss cheese and garlic aioli which was a nice condiment that was perfect. All served on beautiful thick and light grilled white bread. It was a wonderful sandwich. The meal was delivered to me in minus two minutes, lol, it seemed that quick. They don't play around. My aunt and uncle selected this as a place for us to have lunch today. I have to say it was a very good choice as the customer service that we received is outstanding. You can tell this is definitely a family owned restaurant by how they agreed entry their customers. Moreover the food was very good. The omelette was cooked just right, not overcooked and made to perfection. I love the marble right toast and my uncle enjoyed his pancakes as my aunt enjoyed her locks. Overall it was very good, the only thing that was not the greatest was the eclair. Breakfast at 1 pm - imagine that! Super fresh and cooked to perfection- hard to get soft scrambled eggs. Real grits, not just packaged and boiled. Premium bacon and they press their biscuits panini style so nice, toasty and buttered surfaces. I think they are family owned and it show in their pride of ownership. I struggled between giving 3 stars or 4 stars, but I went with 4 stars because the good definitely outweighed what I didn't like. This right here is what caused the struggle1 You may call me petty but I'm Big about great customer service. The host wasn't friendly and seemed like she was in a mood, but we pushed through. Their system is a little weird and not well explained but I actually like a lot. You order your food & pay with the host once you walk in. Then you pick your a spot. What I love is- they give you a # and they bring you your food and once you're done- you can leave. The team that came to serve were fast and clean. They were fast and good. I visited this restaurant and enjoyed it. You order and pay upfront. The cashier was very pleasant. I would've preferred to have table ordering, but this is how they do it and they do it well. You get your own beverages. The beverage station is neat and has a good selection. I ordered the breakfast burrito. Wow that was delicious. Hashbrowns are inside it, but in a very modest proportion to the egg. It is not used as an excessive filler. The chopped up bacon bits are awesome. And the scrambled egg inside was cooked to perfection. I had my burrito pressed. It was served piping hot. I got sour cream and salsa with it. I would order this again in a minute. Though they didn't offer table side ordering, they did have a wait service delivering the food. They checked on me a couple times during the meal in a very polite and service oriented way. The restaurant was very clean, attractive, with nice spacing for all the seating. It is definitely worth a try. I will certainly be going back. read more

I didn't want to eat anything super heavy that would give me the "itis" so I opted for their Cobb Salad (mixed greens, ham, avocado, bacon, cheddar cheese, blue cheese, tomatoes, boiled egg) and a choice of dressing, to which I chose the Raspberry Vinaigrette. When it arrived and I opened my container, I was taken aback by the portion size! So much for eating light. It was, however, delicioso! All fresh ingredients and was nice and full afterwards. I would not go here on a Sunday late morning if you are in a hurry, as they get slammed with very little seating. But if you do wait, the food is good from what I've tried. I would highly recommend the biscuits and gravy. So good. And the French toast. The service each time I've visited was great. The omelette was made with tomatoes, mushrooms, onions, and green peppers. It lacked flavor and the eggs they used looked like carton eggs not fresh eggs. The toast was (haha I love bread) and the fruit included grapes, cantaloupe, honey dew, and pineapple. The melons weren't really sweet. My husband ordered the French toast which he said was good (bacon too). He didn't like the eggs per the previous reasons. Price is decent but doesn't really match the quality. After a failed attempt to grab a table at Metro Diner, we ventured across the street to the next closest option which happened to have no wait. Located in a shopping plaza, there was also plenty of parking. We ordered at the counter upon entering the restaurant, took our table number and found an empty table. It's a confusing combination of sit-down restaurant and fast food diner, as we did pour our own drinks. I ordered a half order of the French toast and added a side of eggs and bacon. The breakfast was pretty cheap - I also got a cup of coffee, which was meh. Wish I had just gone to Starbucks. Overall, Deerwood Bistro is a standard breakfast diner. We were on our way to another diner a block away but decided with a 30 minute wait to give Deerwood Bistro a chance, I wish we had waited at the other diner. Not good, not bad, just ok. I was a little surprised that you order your food at what I thought was a hostess stand when I walked inside. My hubby and I split a Reuben sandwich and pancakes with bacon. He took the first bite of the sandwich and excitedly I asked "How is it?" The look on his face told me my answer but his actual response was "we could have made a better one at home". I thought the pancakes would be better, sorry to say, they were just ok also but we did enjoy the hash brown potatoes and our server was very nice. The long and short of it is that this is one of those places where you order your food at the counter, and they give you a number and then you sit at a table of your choosing and wait on your food. I ordered the Nova Lox Bagel, which I thought would come ready to eat. WRONG. All of the components come separately on a plate for you to assemble, which is kind of cool, but mostly annoying. I don't remember what Hunny ordered (photos should have already been uploaded, if not, they will be ASAP). The service was alright, and the food was the same. I didn't find the place to be exceptionally clean (didn't visit the restroom to check it out, either). There was nothing specific that stood out to me other than the unexpected DIY meals. I just did a check in but this place really deserves another review. I was just amazed that the flatware was perfectly clean without even a water spot. The flatware is the first thing I look at in any restaurant and I'm always dismayed when I know I have to dip my napkin in the water so that I can rewash that flatware. This was just beautiful. The potato bacon soup topped with fresh green onions was wonderful. I didn't even have room for my spinach bacon pecan Mandarin orange salad. I brought that home and finished it off along with their lovely honey mustard dressing that was not too tangy or spicy; it was mellow and perfect! My husband liked his Cobb salad with the raspberry vinaigrette but forgot to ask for feta cheese instead of blue cheese which is traditional. Always looking to try out new breakfast spots, this grabbed our attention Sunday am. Convenient parking as the business is at the end of a busy strip plaza. Seating outside on the covered patio or inside at your choice of booths or tables. The ordering process is a little different than most, you order at the counter like a fast food restaurant. The menus however are large print laminated like you'd see at any other diner or bistro and stacked up at the counter like they'd hand them to you while being seated. Kinda weird I thought. Anyway we ordered an omelette and split it. Comes w your choice of fruit or grits and toast or bagel. I went fruit n bagel. After ordering you take your table number and go select a spot to sit. Next you go get and fix your own coffee and drinks then sit down. Shortly thereafter the food was brought out. We ordered ham and cheddar cheese omelette. The omelette was light n fluffy but lacked flavor. I didn't care for the ham, it tasted more like sausage. The fruit cup was also underwhelming. It wasn't freshly prepared because all of the fruits had melded together so my pineapple tasted like melon, etc. My bagel was also only toasted on 1/2 the bagel (both sides) so the toaster must be broken. Overall it wasn't bad but it wont likely be in our regular rotation. read more
