I absolutely love Diners! And Oceana did not disappoint. Once I saw they serve Liver and Onions for lunch I knew I had to go. My friend and I arrived after the lunch rush ready for some comfort food. We were greeted by Santa anxiously awaiting his next phone call. We settled into a booth and were greeted by our server. She quickly returned with delicious sweet tea just like my grandma made. It wasn't long before our liver, onions, real mashed potatoes and vegetable medley arrived. It was everything I hoped for. It was, Rainey, damp and the perfect comfort food for our late afternoon lunch. Tried out @oceanadinerjax on Beach Blvd for brunch today and got this monster of an omelette. It's the Mediterranean Omelette made with spinach, onions, tomatoes, and feta. For $0.75 extra, I added sausage. This wasn't an omelette so much as it was a frittata folded in half. With the toast and home fries, this was a huge meal. Very busy Sunday- which isn't unusual for most breakfast spots. We managed to hit just before the rush- so we got a table right away. It took a few minutes before the server made it to us and by that point we were ready to order. The food- surely the hit of the show. John ordered an omelet and not only was it huge, it came with a healthy portion of homefries and a biscuit. Made for a very happy man meal. I ordered the Paradise Waffle- a massive waffle with fresh fruit! The menu said bananas and strawberries, but fresh blueberries were on it too and I loved it! The blueberries were HUGE! My waffle wasn't as hot as I would have liked- but John's omelet was steaming. The second half of the meal slowed- I never got a refill of hot water for my tea, actually didn't really even get a chance to stop our server and ask- they were crazy busy. It took some time to get our check and a box for my leftovers. The table next to us (who were there half the time as us) actually stood up and hovered waiting to ask for the check. I can't hold it against them- they were hustling, but go with expectations of a leisurely dining experience. If you are in a rush- this might not be the place for you. My boss frequents this place and said unless you order to-go, this is pretty standard. read more

A year ago, I had a family member move here from Virginia. She grew up eating southern comfort foods and I didn't want her to feel soo homesick. I searched on yelp and found this place. I've heard mixed reviews about this place and I think I can see why. We decided to order some brunch from a place we haven't been to yet and I chose Oceana. The items on the menu sounded good...a Create Your Own Omelette (mushroom, broccoli, provolone cheese, bacon, tomato, onion, a side of rye bread and grits) and a Seafood Omelette (crabmeat with a "c", shrimp, and hollandaise sauce, a side of grits and rye toast), along with two coffees we chose to order. My CYO Omelette was just meh. Presentation looks like it was just slapped into the container. the cheese was mostly on one half and I didn't feel like there were equal amounts of toppings added. My man's seafood omelette was very disappointing. He may have had 1 or 2 shrimp in his entire omelette and crab may have been overcooked. He still ate it as he didn't feel right to just throw it away. The grits were were fine. We didn't get our toast. I'm not sure if it was just not picked up or if it was simply forgotten, but everything as a whole just made for a not so great experience. read more

It's a solid normal diner I guess. Service was fine. Coffee was good. I didn't get to the bottom, but I'm a slower coffee drinker anyways. Toast was good. Potatoes were good. I highly recommend this diner if you want to start your weekend in a state of sadness. The warning sign as we walked in was only 2 diners on a Saturday morning at 9 am. Penman Diner, Metro Diner, Grumpy's, etc. would be on a wait list. Decor, furnishings and ambience made me feel like I was at Regency Mall. But heck, good food can make up for poor ambience, right? That's what a treasured hole in the wall restaurant is about. Unfortunately, Oceana is just a hole. Chicken and waffles had tasteless chicken and dry waffle. Oceana Benedict had very little meat, just a few crumbles of ground beef, bathed in a sea of hollandaise sauce. Was not asked choice of side, but the home fries spent way too much time in the fryer. Waitress lacked social awareness as she did not inquire about taste of food until we were waiting at the register to get our check, with plates mostly uneaten. Coffee deserves 2 stars out of 5...harsh tasting. Will not be back. Recommend others do not go unless you are on antidepressants. read more

I have to brag that our waitress Brooke who was excellent today and she truly ensure that my arm that was cooked to perfection! The portions were very large and the prices were very reasonable. The owner kept coming by the table and checking on us and he was constantly on the floor doing something with the wait staff. That is a great sign when you see the owner intimately involved in the business aspect as well as customer service. Their home fries were crunchy hot and great flavor. Their pancakes had a natural sweetness to it where you really did not need syrup. Overall I will definitely be back because this was a great establishment! Support your local business owners! I think this is the 5th owner of Oceana diner. I dont understand why...as the food has always been excellent there! This is my first time there with the new owners and it totally did not disappoint! I opted for the specia,l which was a California omelette. It consisted of two eggs with cheddar cheese, tomato, avocado, and asparagus. It was excellent and made to perfection! I also got a side of potatoes which I asked for done crispy ...and they were done to perfection as well! They did forget my English muffin on the side, but I didn't even care because I was so full from my omelette and potatoes! My friend got the Belgium waffle with the fresh fruit and cream on top! She said it was so tasty and excellent as well! Their prices are very reasonable. My husband got a huge manly meal with extra bacon, extra everything and with sausage gravy on the side. The sausage gravy was homemade and tasted amazing he said. I ordered coffee. He had tea. The waitress was great as was her service! Our bill was about $26.00. Oh my goodness....we are such oinkers!! Lots of rave reviews about Oceana Diner. I was just coming off a night shift and was looking for a causal breakfast joint (because I was definitely not IG-ready after working 12 hours and in scrubs). This diner is actually quite large. They have a counter top area for those who want to dine solo and plenty of tables and booths for groups. There's no glitz or glam about this place, but sometimes that's what I want. I ended up ordering their Ocean Benedict. It's made with ground beef instead of ham, and of course it had the typical poached eggs and hollandaise sauce. I also chose the house potatoes for my side. The beef and potatoes had a kick to them. It was a pleasant heat and not too overpowering for breakfast. The eggs were poached perfectly but the hollandaise was nothing too special. My boyfriend ordered the country fried steak and eggs. He said it was alright, nothing too over or underwhelming. Their coffee is a little on the light side. Overall, this place is alright. I typically like supporting local and small businesses so I chose to dine here vs iHop. If you haven't figured it out by now, I'm a diner fanatic. There's something about breakfast food, hot coffee and counter seating that does it for me. That being said, Florida isn't home to all that many outstanding diners, but rather a slew of breakfast diners that leave something to be desired. Oceana Diner isn't far from my home, so it'll definitely turn into a joint I'll occasionally frequent. I decided to eat here after seeing some excellent pictures of omelets, (yes this is how I spend my free time: omelet-scoping). Corned Beef Hash Omelet - Egg was overcooked, the meat was severely lacking, and the cheese wasn't completely melted. However, I will say the other omelets Yelpers have photographed look significantly better than mine, so maybe the cook was having a bad day? Potatoes were hearty nuggets of yumminess. For the price, the value here is insane. Omelet, potatoes, and two giant slices of buttered toast are all included. I doubt you'll scarf it all down. Service was excellent. Two thumbs way up, girls. It was hot inside, too. Like scorching. There was an A/C repairman on the scene. A few minor tweaks and this place could be a Beach Blvd. staple! read more

If you're looking for a place to have brunch with friends or family, this is the place. I came here out of my sister's recommendation, and I'm glad she told me about it. I had brunch here with my friends and the food was sooooo good. I was between the Crab Benedict and the Oceana Benedict; I went with the latter. I was surprised by how fresh and toasty the home fries were. I also tried some of my friend's Waffle Fiesta. This would be a treat for any waffle lover with fruits and whip cream. Very good place for breakfast. This is a small strip mall place. Good menu with lots to choose from. We both chose the build your own omelette. I had the ham mushroom and provolone omelette. Candyce had the bacon cheese omelette. Both came out hot and very tasty. Candyce had a cup of the sausage gravy. The biscuit was grilled. Great touch with the sausage gravy. I liked the home fries. Stopped at this cute diner in the morning on our way out of Jax. It did not disappoint! We had a huge group of about 15 people and they were very accommodating and sat us all in about 10 minutes. The staff was amazing and our waitress was so sweet. I ordered the breakfast sandwich with bacon and my boyfriend ordered the seafood omelette. Both of our dishes were so yummy! The rest of group ordered different dishes from the eggs Benedict to the french toast. Everyone was happy! This place seems like it is usually pretty packed for breakfast on the weekend, so just prepare to wait a little bit. They are very quick to get you sat and ordered and the food doesn't take long to come out at all. Overall this place was great! I would recommend trying it out. If I could give this diner anything higher than a 5-star rating, I ABSOLUTELY WOULD!! We popped in today for our first time and we were blown away at this hidden gem! The inside is a perfect blend of coastal restaurant mixed with hometown diner, and we were greeted with so many warm welcomes. I ordered just some simple chocolate chip pancakes, and these were some of the best pancakes I have ever had! So light and fluffy, with the perfect sweetness of vanilla from the batter and chocolate chips! The home fries are also perfection. So crunchy and sliced thick, just the way home fries should be. My fiancé got the country fried steak and eggs, and the gravy is seasoned to perfection (I'm normally not a fan of white gravy, but even I was begging for another bite of his meal!) His scrambled eggs were light and airy, and the steak was so flavorful! Our waitress, Mary, was so so sweet and accommodating and made sure to check in frequently. She even was holding the door open for patrons on our way out!! We have definitely found not only one of the best diners in Jacksonville, but our new favorite spot! read more

This place has really gone downhill. While the servers have always been on point, everything else leaves much to be desired. Had the burger today and it's a frozen patty. Fries are also frozen. My boyfriend had the turkey bacon club, which wasn't terrible. Unless I get actual breakfast food, I won't be back anytime soon. At least you can't have frozen eggs lol The guy who sat us didn't say a word, just plopped the menus down and walked away. The owner used to walk around and check on everyone. An actual diner? In JACKSONVILLE? That's how my son and I felt when, after over a year of lamenting about the lack of quality diner options after moving from New Jersey, we stumbled upon Oceana on pure happenstance. Full breakfast/lunch/dinner menu (yup), booth seats (yup), relatively cheap prices (yup), down home service (yup)! We went straight for our old favorites: pancakes for him, corned beef hash, an omelette and a waffle for me -- we also always sub "homefries" for french fries and call it day. I tell you what -- he was so happy about eating this meal. We started reminiscing about all the times we would go to "our diner" pretty much since before he could even open his eyes all the way. Everything tasted just as it should -- not too fancy, just greasy enough, basically perfect. We loved it. Oh, and I used a Yelp coupon so the wins just kept coming that day. Good times. read more
