Some past yelpers I who clearly don't agree used this to bust down their Yelp review. That's ridiculous. If the owner wants to voice their opinion- they have every right. It's their place - with their money on the line and their time vested. They clearly treated every guest wonderfully and that's all you should really focused on. Friendly, attentive, and checked on us regularly. Now for the best part. The sorbet mimosas. We ordered two, one with mango sorbet and one with lemon and raspberry sorbet, and they were incredible. If you come here, these are an absolute must order. We started with the fried green tomatoes. They were good, but they were clearly made from frozen slices rather than fresh-cut tomatoes. I ordered the salmon cakes with eggs and a pancake. Everything was delicious. No complaints at all. The food easily earns 5 stars. The decor has a classic old-school diner vibe with black and white checkered floors and chrome accents, which I really liked. My only real complaint was the bar seating. If you're on the shorter side, the stools are not very comfortable. The seats are not very deep, there is no foot rail to rest your feet on, and since the stools are bolted to the floor, you cannot scoot in to get comfortable. The backs of my legs started going numb, so we moved to a table as soon as one opened up. Ironically, it was the table directly in front of that hot window. Overall, I'd definitely come back. Great food, excellent service, and those sorbet mimosas alone are worth the visit. Just be strategic about where you sit if you're visiting on a warm, sunny day.

I provided a previous review on this restaurant when they refused to seat a group of people when they had empty tables in the back room. The Mgr indicated they could seat four people at two tables and six at another table, but not together. Well, we went to another restaurant and had a great meal. But now to really show how they do not have their act together, I just received an ad for "Metpo". Whom are these people? Do they not edit anything? They want to be our neighbor. What a joke. The Mgr goes not even dress like a professional. Not a clue what he is doing. I cannot provide any information about the food as we cannot get a seating. Dined at Metro Diner while visiting my family from out of town. Cool atmosphere, more of a modern type of diner. I ordered the chicken biscuit and mac and cheese. Perfect portion of food and very tasty. Others ordered the fried chicken sandwich, shrimp and grits, and the very popular chicken and waffles. All said their meals were good and we all left full and satisfied. Two reasons I didn't give 5 stars...the chicken and waffles was missing some of the chicken and they brought it when we were already done eating, and they made the chicken sandwich before the rest of the food by accident and you could tell it had been sitting for awhile. We had such a great experience at Metro Diner! Our waiter, Adiel, was incredibly kind, attentive, and welcoming from start to finish. He made sure we had everything we needed and checked on us often without being overbearing. The food was delicious, and we were seated fairly quickly even during a busy time. We asked if we could sit on the patio, and the staff accommodated us right away with no issue at all. The patio itself was wonderful -- plenty of shade and such a comfortable atmosphere. I ordered the San Francisco Benedict and this is what i got Boiled eggs( not poached) and nothing but butter " hollandaise" sauce. The tomato slice was spoiled and very soft. My daughter had the kids platter and her eggs are drenched in nothinh but cheese, bacon is rubbery. Ended up with a $30 check and not a happy belly. Our sever was great! read more

The omelet was flavorful without being overwhelming, the fruit was fresh, and the sweet potato pancakes still hit without all the extras; soft, comforting, and perfectly cooked. They didn't even need syrup or butter to fully enjoy. I'm giving 4 stars because while the food and service were great, I still want to come back and try a few more things before calling it perfect. I had a lemon slice off the edge of my mom's water as my meal. In fairness to our waitress, we were a LARGE group of 14. To compile various meals of that magnitude is not easy. Too many items, however came out incomplete, wrong, cold, and tasteless. The grits--were like white, muddy water. And we had MORE than one order of them. How can you make grits taste like, well NOTHING!? They were tasteless and cold--and even the cheese on the grits did not improve the taste. The side of ham never actually appeared with the rest of the meal. Once my husband ate ALL of his meal, the ham finally arrived. The burger was good though, so in fairness, I should mention the good if I am going to talk about the bad. This will be our last visit. We have been coming here for YEARS, but the lack of quality of food and arrival time of our food to the table is not worth the money we paid. We will not return.

Tea: 2.99,2 egg & Catfish:16.99, add cheese:.99 and side of fried shrimp: 9.99, service fee: 1.24, 16% gratuity: 4.95, and tax: 4.18 Honestly, even with the auto-gratuity, I had to slide Casey some extra cash. Watching her manage a sudden rush while keeping the wheels from falling off was impressive. If you go, expect a bit of a wait if it's busy, but know that the staff is working their tails off to get you a solid, hot meal.

It's their place - with their money on the line and their time vested. They clearly treated every guest wonderfully and that's all you should really focused on. A true blast from the 80's past!!!…read more The nostalgia is off the charts. I didn't take any inside pics out of respect for other diners. But there are numerous 80's themed posters on the wall. Our breakfast was incredible. I had the Portuguese sausage omelette which was absolutely amazing. My wife had their pancake offering which was huge and very tasty according to her. Prices were VERY reasonable and the service was superb. If you're ever in Suffolk, come here to fill your bellies!
