Great little dinner with that old town feel to it. Walked in and was immediately greeted and was asked if I was dining in or taking it to go, I responded dining in and was told to sit wherever I wanted. The waitress immediately came over with a menu and silverware and took my drink order. Once she returned with my drink she took my order. Within 10 minutes or less my order was being delivered to my table hot with condiments such as butter, jellies, and syrup. Everything was good, no complaints here. There's 3 TVs with different shows on for variety, o particularly was watching the one playing the old TMNT cartoon from the 90s. This is definitely a spot I would come back to, good food, good service, and good people.

We stopped in for breakfast because it is my boyfriend's diner. I have never been. So many options on the menu! You can get breakfast lunch or dinner. You definitely get your money worth, servings are huge. Everything tasted great, like home cooked and made with it love. Our server was very attentive and super nice. She knew the menu well. The decor was mostly navy and water related. We loved reading the patches on the wall. The only reason I give a 4/5 and not a 5/5 is because the bathrooms are not secure. The lock doesn't work. It also would be helpful if they had benches outside or inside for people that are waiting. The place was super busy but that's a good thing. Look forward to trying more items on the menu

Great food! However I can't eat at a place that charges you $3.00 for taking food to go. Fees at certain places are ridiculous!

Great food and always tastes fresh. Food is 5 stars! However I can't eat at any place that charges you for taking your food to go. There's a $3.00 charge for takeout. Fees at certain places are ridiculous!

This is a nice dinner with really great food. The service is really good and the couple that own it are very nice and personable. I really like the old school diner vibes which lends well to the atmosphere as well as the food. I order the 10oz ribeye and eggs which was cooked perfectly and was very well priced. My fiancé and I will be returning regularly to enjoy this spot.

Food is typical small diner grub. Food and prices were excellent. If you like no frills home cooking, this is the spot.

I have passed by this business on more than one occasion. So today I decided to stop and grab something to eat! I purchased the Philly Cheese Egg Rolls, they were ok. I would probably try something else on my next visit!. It was quiet and plenty of seating and that's probably because of the time and day of my visit. I'm sure it gets a lot busier in the evenings and weekends!. I would definitely recommend and return to this establishment!.

The…read moreone issue I had here is they were servicing a party in the back of the restaurant and made it very chaotic to receive service in the general areas of the restaurant. Service took forever to get. We waited over an hour just to receive drinks and an appetizer. I'm not saying this happened daily because this was my first time, but honestly just because you're having a private event in back there still should've been enough staff to service your regular customers or just shut the place down to cater unto them only. We ordered teriyaki chicken wings as our appetizer and they were okay. Nothing to call home about!!!! I ordered the shrimp and grits. The cajun sauce was alright. Again, nothing to call home about! The location is off of Airlines blvd making it convenient to my family being that we live within 10 minutes of it. Yes we could've left any time, but wanted to check the food out here. I'm a very patient person, but some places just don't know how to accommodate their customers accordingly. It's really not hard to do! Most definitely try it out for yourself. It's a one and done for us!

Inside is very well done - clearly recently updated and very modern. Music is pretty loud in there but I enjoyed it, my older parents had a little more issues hearing. Service - waiter was very nice and friendly, they have electronic ordering right tableside so if there is an issue or error can be a little difficult to fix! He did originally deliver the wrong food and even when questioned just changed what he called it but it was wrong. Kitchen showed they likely have a lot of new staff. Medium steak came out first and each meal was delivered individually and with a pretty significant time difference. Medium steak was basically rare in the middle, we didn't opt to send it back though we could have. It was seasoned really well! I had the party platter and everyone was really great! My mom also loved her salmon Caesar wrap and my dad liked his scallop basket. Price points were on par for everything but the steak dinner and most of us had left overs. There is for sure room for improvement on kitchen side and be prepared for the auto 20% gratuity after 5pm but overall they have a lot of potential! I hope they can work out the kinks!

We got the oyster Rockefeller, salmon sliders, catfish and grits, and the crab dip. We were impressed with everything. The waitress was very attentive, they played great music. It was the perfect brunch. Can't wait to go back to try more!

It has been nearly three weeks; I can stop thinking about No Frill Bar and Grill…read more I'm a military spouse, so I know my time in Hampton Roads is coming to an end soon. I visited a Hampton Roads Restaurant group on FB and asked if someone was visiting from out of town: What is your go-to place to take them? Out of 90+ comments, No Frill Bar and Grill was mentioned the most - six times! So when I finally had a day off and some other business to tend to in Norfolk, it was the perfect excuse to finally try them. No Frill Bar and Grill has been open for nearly 30 years by Jerry Meltsner. Jerry's nephew Jon Kliner helps co-own and manage operations. It originally opened on Tidewater Drive, but the space didn't allow for much growth - 10 years later, he moved to a location off Colley Avenue and Spotswood Avenue. Growth continued, moving from counter service to table service. The second location, at 1620 Laskin Road in Virginia Beach, opened in 2005. The restaurant's longevity stems from quality, consistency, price, service, and staff who genuinely care about the business and serving the community. I asked the server for her opinion on two options - Salmon, Shrimp and grits won. The dish was incredible: lightly blackened salmon, for once blackened food that doesn't just taste like salt. I don't dine with the swine, so I asked for no andouille sausage. The sautéed shrimp, caramelized onions, tomatoes, and spinach simmered in Norfolk Canyon ale sauce over cheesy grits and Boursin lavash cracker. The cheesy grits were smooth, and the Boursin lavash cracker was a nice touch. The Boursin added extra creaminess to the meal. The cracker wasn't really a cracker - more like little toasted bread. After this first meal, I know two things for sure: 1. I definitely understand why it is such a local favorite, and 2. I will be back.
