As they have "espresso" in their name, I decided to stop for a caffeine fix one day. The staff was nice and the restaurant itself is super adorable. They have a really cute terrace/ outdoor area to sit. Of course, seating inside as well. The coffee offerings are basic, but again my latte was strong and enjoyable. Swung by Metro Espresso Pizza at 2:45am to check out their surprise bag for Too Good to Go. Super delicious. I LOVE that there's a business open until 3am that you can stop in and have a super late night bite to eat. The staff was very nice and attentive. I tried 3 different pizzas- one was the Bianca (white pizza), Margherita, and the Meat Lovers. The Bianca was *chef's kiss*... The fresh ricotta was SO delicious. Loved the garlicky crust. No notes. Amazing. The star of the show. The Margherita pizza was yummy. It was very fresh-tomatoey... maybe a little more than I wanted on the pizza. But great nonetheless. The Meat Lovers pizza was a surprising hit. I am normally not a meat lovers fan (I will usually just order pepperoni) because I normally don't like the taste/quality of the sausage that pizza places use on pizza... But the Italian sausage on the pizza was very good, along with the rest of the meats on the pizza. Two thumbs up. The chicken francese lacked major flavor as well, not enough lemon juice, the dressing was watery, the whole platter tasted like only salt, was very disappointed considering this was an Italian restaurant. The waitress took forever just to bring a simple salad, when she brought my espresso, there was barely anything espresso in the cup. I guess it was not such a good day to eat here considering the lack of efficiency, quality and overall care. Metro is a surprisingly tasty and generous Italian affair beyond its pizzeria focus and unassuming/welcoming/accessible decor and presentation. The garlic knots were some of the biggest we've ever seen, plates full with flavor, and sauces & flavors full and flowing - my All Star Aperol Spritz was particularly delicious, and I very much enjoyed my Meatball Marinara sandwich, which I subbed (ha) with Vodka sauce. Lovely outdoor seating and accommodating neighborhood-scaled eatery with an overly busy staff that can result in long wait times, but Elle did great - with her and the chefs' work, the staff definitely deserve a raise! I decided to order the Gyro platter, which consisted of lamb meat, Greek salad, french fries, pita bread with melted cheese, as well as tzatziki sauce. This was very neatly plated and large portions. The lamb was tender, well seasoned, and juicy. I really enjoyed the melty cheese on the slightly crunchy and nicely fluffy pita. The lamb and cheesy pita paired with the delightfully creamy, silky smooths sauce made for mouthwatering bites. The fries were absolutely delicious and wonderfully crispy. The salad came with tomato, onion, and an ample amount of crumbled feta cheese. The lettuce and veggies were fresh and added a healthy element to the dish. I also got to try the Garlic Knots with cheese, which were humongous and only around $5 for 6 pieces. They were incredibly garlicky, buttery, made with perfectly cooked bread, and tons of yummy cheese, creating quite the irresistible cheese pull. Service was excellent throughout our time dining here. The waitresses were on top of everything, and were very efficient. They made sure we always had refills of beverages, and checked on us, while still giving us space. This is one of my go to places for Italian food in Orlando. Being from NY / NJ, I have a high bar for pizza. Originally, I wasn't too sold on their pizza, but once they updated their menu and ingredients, they have really stepped it up. I do have to knock off a star for service, as it can be a long time before you see your server even when you're the only people there. The atmosphere is cozy and feels like youre dining in a small NYC storefront. They had crispy edges which was good, but they skin on the whole was not as crisp as I like and it didn't help that they were over sauced. The Philly cheese pizza through me for a loop. Wasn't expecting red sauce on the top. When I opened it I thought I got the wrong order so I took it back downstairs. Turns out this is just how they make it. It did have that Philly cheese steak taste, despite the red sauce. In fact it was quite tasty. Next time I am craving pizza I will definitely order from here. A small was a good size for me and the chicken was cooked well and seasoned nicely. I tasted a bite (okay, a couple of bites) of the five cheese pizza. If you're a cheese lover like me, you should definitely try it! The crust on the pizza is also really good. In the past, I've tried their Sicilian style slice and also enjoyed it. Oh, how wrong I was! And an even more pleasant surprise? The surprisingly fresh house salad I got along with it. The spinach and ricotta slice was delicious and with a thinner crust - which I prefer. The house salad with lettuce, tomato, onion, black olives, etc. was crisp with big slices of tomato and lacking any wilted, browning lettuce leaves. Do make a point of sitting outside, European-style, if you can stand the heat. Although I appeared to have 3 different servers, all of them were attentive, professional, and kind.
