This company went bankrupt in September of 2024 (chapter 11) and is now (late 2025) scamming unsuspecting customers by unloading years-old torn, moldy, stained merchandise as "brand new, just spent two weeks as a floor demo at NY State fair." Sadly, I fell victim to this scam recently and was bilked out of $3,500+. Small claims court won't work in such a situation because bankruptcy is in federal court which supersedes. The salespeople work on commission and are more aggressive than some used car salesmen. We mentioned our price range many times, but were ignored and steered toward much more expensive mattresses under the guise of determining our "comfort level". There were no price tags so we couldn't tell what we were trying. All in all it was a terrible experience and it was difficult to get away from the salesman and out of the store. Poor selection and made to feel unwelcome. Poor selection. The salespeople will help you but in a way that says they don't really want you to be there. They ask questions about whether you intend to pay cash or finance to determine how much attention to pay you (like many places). The person helped me and showed me the items but made a comment that she wouldn't show me a $6k mattress because she said she worried I'd "fall in love with it and it would be out of your budget." Sure, that's a common sales tactic. Very rude and loaded comment. She made several other passive aggressive comments like that one during the 4 minutes I was in the store. I left because I felt unwelcome. Ithaca location on Elmira Road. I thought about not posting this, but even 24 hours later I still feel a sense of shame. Nobody deserves to feel that way while shopping. She saw a young black female and didn't realize I am an attorney with a full time job and was actually a serious buyer had I been treated like any other customer.. Selection was poor anyway. It's likely a combination of race and the fact that I look young for my age that caused her to assume that. My mother is a physician and used to be treated that way more often (likely because of age and race) when she was a younger doctor. My advice is not to make assumptions and to treat all customers the way you'd want to be treated. Some of the wealthiest people I've met have shown up in a rundown truck with dirt beneath their nails. Everyone should be treated well no matter what you assume (whether correctly or incorrectly) that they have. I likely would've at least bought some pillows and spent a few hundred, but it was that fake friendly "I don't think you have money and I'm showing you things, but I don't want to be here kind of attitude." I'd recommend going elsewhere or buying online. Go where you feel welcome. read more

I bought a $ 2,199 .00 mattress ,on 28 of October 2022.After few month the mattress was falling apart.It started to be lumpy in many places that are very obvious in a photo and very uncomfortable ,it dipped in the middle more than 1 inch .I also noticed that it is higher almost an inch in some parts. I called them and they sent and inspector who sent a report of all the defects.I tried to call the store and they kept saying we did not receive the report and at last they said yes the claim is denied and you can come and buy a new mattress??? No replacement because it is not dipping two inches??? Being lumpy and not even does not matter?? My mom bought an expensive mattress here and it only lasted 6 weeks before it was saggy, lumpy, and pretty much unusable. She takes great care of her belongings and has never had a problem with a mattress before. This store refused to refund, replace, or honor the warranty. Awful store, buyer beware. Sales rep knowledgeable but not pushy. Large inventory and many choices in all kinds of price ranges. I hate to shop for mattresses, but this was not a bad experience. Purchased mattress, box spring, and frame at a fair price. Delivered next day on time (easy to track exact delivery time - not hang around all day) Delivery men were polite and quick, and wore their shoe covers so as not to track snow through apartment. Two years ago I purchased a latex mattress from Metro Mattress, it's was extremely expensive but I was convinced from the sales person that it was the best mattress on the market and had a great warranty. He further explained that if the mattress showed a 3/4 inch sag they would replace it no questions asked with a new mattress and if that mattress was discontinued then I would get the newer model. My husband and I, both recently MA students, have long gotten by on the cheapest mattress we can tolerate. We've reached a point where that is just no longer and option, so upon moving to Ithaca this summer we went to Metro Mattress. We had a good experience in the store where all our questions were answered and we were NOT pressured into making a purchase. We were the ones to say "yes, let's get this one." This was so different than my experiences in Seattle and Boston, where they are really on you to agree to purchase that day like a car salesperson. We've had the mattress for three or so weeks now, and are sleeping substantially better than we are used to. We're both very grateful for the help and time spent to match us up with the right mattress for us. read more

Salesman provided no pressure on specific mattresses and provided good information about every variety. He pointed us in the right direction based on our comfort and even informed us of the major differences or what was not really necessary in a more expensive brand. They also shipped to us the next day which was fantastic. Delivery was early and extremely fast. Only negative is that there are no other comparable stores in the area, so you're pretty much stuck with them unless you buy online. Due to the lack of competition prices don't need to be exactly competitive. Overall a good experience, we're enjoying our new bed and had nothing negative with our in store experience. read more

We bought a bed here for delivery later that week, and by that evening we had buyer's remorse. We'd made the wrong decision. The next day we went in to cancel the transaction, and Rosemary (our salesperson) and Jerry (the manager) were professional, helpful, and completely accepting of our decision. We were (of course) embarrassed about having changed our mind, and were upset that we were going to face the salespeople who would also be upset. But they were very helpful, and gave us a complete refund immediately, without any pressure to shop for a new bed right then. We were in and out within 5 minutes. Last year my wife and I went to the Metro in HHDS and stood there 15min while the sales person talked about vacation with another couple so we left. (obviously not wanting to make a sale). Both of us suffer from back pain and the sleep number bed that we had sagged so bad and the air chambers and motors wouldnt work any more and of course the warranty was over or didnt cover it. We were in Ithaca shopping when on the way home to Elmira we stopped in Metro, talked to the sales person who was also a Veteran and we spent an hour looking and testing,talked about the warranty and covered everything. We were sold, filled out the paperwork in 15min and we had a bed we both were satisfied with, no pressure and no hassle. Now we are taking advantage of the upgrade or change within our 1yr of purchase to get individual beds instead of the single king (she likes different settings than I) again no problems. Our purchase was modest, but he was more than happy to pull down a couple mattresses for us to try out. I went there last week and was the only one in the store. I had time to try out many beautiful mattresses. I was extremely close to closing the deal on a fairly expensive mattress when the high sales pitches started. It was easier buying a used car. I have talked with others who also were in the mattress market and they agreed with me that the sales pitches scare them away. Once you start to walk out, the prices fall drastically. The best pitch is that it is only good that day. Pressure, Pressure.! I did find the mattress I was going to buy at another store, but much cheaper than Metro. Also, check mattress warranties. Lots of very fine print. Such as if you don't have a waterproof cover, or a foundation of a different brand, a mattress sold as clearance, or as is, then the warranty is probably void. This is why they push you to buy their foundations and covers. read more

Ronnie was a great salesperson to work with. I knew what I wanted and wanted to purchase it fast - he was very accommodating. I only took off one star because the delivery was a bit of a pain to coordinate. The night before they told me the window of time they would deliver (3-6pm) and then at 11:30am on delivery day they told me they would be there at 12:30 and that the previously given window was "only an estimate."
