Look no further, this is probably the repair shop you're hoping to find. Woody is the best, and gives you reliable price quotes quickly on Yelp, or via phone. The quotes are transparent, and they call you if they find anything that may cost more, so there are no surprises. They don't make up bogus repairs you don't need, they don't shame you if you postpone a repair, and from what I can tell, they don't talk down to women! Great hours for dropping off and picking up the vehicle (until 10 pm!). You won't find this quality and convenient service anywhere else around! A couple months ago I took my Lexus here to get a problem with the air conditioning fixed and the oil changed. Wooody was very kind and very responsive even on the weekend. He and his guys worked to quickly get the car back to me. However, the problem wasn't fixed the first time and they forgot the oil change. My fiancé and I went on a road trip not knowing our oil was still low. I give them 3 stars because it did seem like that was out of the ordinary for them and that they're usually very organized and on top of it. The price was good for dc, the location is convenient and easy, and when they messed up the first time, they offered to fix something else in the car for free. Overall good experience. I came in when my car was making a strange whirring sound. I'm an early 20s female who knows nothing about cars, AND I just moved to the area. So I was having major anxiety about finding a new repair shop. I will definitely be coming back! I had a broken water pump, which they fixed same day and even sent me texts letting when they had diagnosed the problem and again when they had completed the repair. I made the trek from NW just based on the Yelp reviews alone, and I was NOT dissappointed. They told me to make sure my car was in the "lot" no later than 9am on a Saturday... they weren't kidding! I rolled in a few minutes after 9am and I was the last car they accepted for services THAT DAY. The lot itself is SUPER small, and they are definitely a fan-favorite because everyone that was dropping off their vehicles confirmed that they were worth the effort to get there. They have fair pricing and quick service. And the staff is super friendly. They forgot to charge me for my brake light replacement and told me to consider it a comp'd service. How nice! read more

These guys were great. I had a car that sat a lot and was gearing up to take it on a cross country so I brought it in because I wanted someone to go over it fix anything that needed fixing. These guys did a great job they always recommended two options and explain the pro's and con's well. Like recharging my battery or replacing it. I ended up getting 4 new tires because it turns out the tires had dry rot from sitting so long. Something I had never sean before so when I had questions about why I needed the 4 tires they took the time to bring me into the garage and show me the tires and where the dry rot was. They worked with me on the cost of the tires and got the car ready to go. It was nice to work with a garage that is trust worthy. I should state that I had gone to them over three years to do oil changes and they are always busy so just call ahead and there are no problems. I am writing this review for everyone who has an automobile and has absolutely no idea how it works. You know who you are. If you think hard about the word "alternator" you start to question whether it's a car part, or just rhymes with one. After you google it to confirm it exists, you are still miles away from understanding how it relates to the moving vehicle you depend on. The only thing I can say about the guys at Capitol Hill Exxon is that they are perfect. I cannot conceal how little I understand my car, yet they continue to not take advantage of this glaring vulnerability. Usually, I shift from shame to comfort within three sentences. The only downside is that you will not be the only person who has figured out that this tiny little station is peace of mind in a garage. If you want to get your oil changed in the morning, prepare for three people to be ahead of you if you show up when they open. My car was disabled (goodbye battery), and they were able to show up to my garage under my apartment, jump my car, and once we were back at the garage, change my battery--- all in about 30 minutes. That said, if you expect them to be available at the drop of a hat, it ain't gonna happen. Trustworthy, reliable, experienced and just pleasant. Five stars for you Capitol Hill Exxon! read more

metro motors was beyond helpful to us when our old car broke down in the middle of Pennsylvania Avenue about a block away. The mechanic walked to the car with me and tried to get it started. When that was not possible he and a police officer pushed the car around the corner. I was in a hurry to catch a bus to go out of town so the mechanic (owner?), whose name I have forgotten, said he would take it into his garage and check it out while I was gone. He just wrote my phone number on his hand -- trust, as if we were in a small town. The car was working when I returned and he charged little. He didn't even charge for the tow. On a previous occasion we had a dead battery early in the morning when we were about to leave to take my son to college for the first time. The Exxon was the only place open and they came right away to help us out. read more

My daughter is new to the DC area and I was thinking her rear brakes needed new shoes-pads so she went to Cap Hill Exxon and asked them to replace the pads (shoes-drum brakes). They checked all her brakes and said no need to replace since the rear ones were only about 1/2 gone, and the front ones were better...so they inspected, cleaned and adjusted them...about $50, but that's OK. Great Service. Woody and the team were very quick on the oil change. He also advised me that my gas cap could likely the reason my check engine light was on. Background: My check engine light has been on for over a year and I have taken to the dealership for a repair within the past year and the dealer didn't say a thing about it or how to fix it. Cruising down route 50 towards DC back from the beach late on Sunday when my beloved '96 Chevy Blazer spluttered to a stop and decided that after fairly reliable 130k+ miles, we weren't going any further that night. After self diagnosing a failed fuel pump, (which is conveniently located inside the fuel tank, requiring its complete removal for repair - thank you mid-90's GM engineers), I called for AAA; who towed me to Capitol Hill Exxon. Called ahead in the morning to excuse myself for dumping a disabled vehicle in their parking lot - and arrived to the garage a little later to be met by Woody; who gladly said he'd take a look at my truck and let me know where things were at. The suspected fuel pump was confirmed, and Woody called me with an estimate and was able to complete the repair same day. Very impressed with the service, and thank you Capitol Hill Exxon! This is the first Yelp review I've ever posted but I'm so dissatistfed that I had to speak up. I've been going to a different Capitol Hill auto shop for a few years but they were busy one day so I took it to Capitol Hill Exxon. The problem was a squeaky belt. Exxon replaced the belt (about $150) but then the car actually squeaked more. I took the car back twice to ask them to fix the problem, and each time they held the car for the day and said they worked on it and fixed the problem. The car keeps squealing, but I've been so frustrated that I didn't want to go back a fourth time. A couple months later I took the car to the dealer for another repair. They asked about the squeal, and when I said I'd recently had the belt replaced recently, the dealer remarked how poor quality the replacement part was. That opinion was seconded by my regular repair shop this morning. I'm very frustrated that the Exxon gave me a bad part and didn't have the commitment to quality to actually fix the problem. I'll never go back to the Exxon and advise others to avoid it. read more

First time here, and I'll definitely be back. My Jeep Grand Cherokee has been acting up for years with multiple problems. I took it to three Chrysler dealerships, and those mechanics were never able to diagnose the problem. I took it to Woody, and he fixed it the same day! My jeep rides so well now. Scheduled an appointment for an oil change via email. When I dropped off my car I was told they don't take appointments and the email exchange was just a courtesy... luckily they were able to get me in and taken care of anyway. I was informed of several other maintenance issues which I went ahead and had them complete. Glad for this forum. My experience happened in 2011. Punctured tire. Service Mgr., Woody, projected indifferent attitude toward me, a black customer. He was very attentive to white male customers though. Treated older black worker like a slave in the field. Ordered a tire for me without discussing with me what he was doing. He barely communicated with me until I asked what he was doing. I think Woody has race issues. He casts a very inhospitable attitude. I told him to cancel the tire order and I left. I visited this service center to get an estimate for a repair because they are in my neighborhood. I was given one estimate by the weekend staff and when I inquired about a AAA discount, was told "it's about 5%, I think". Funny, AAA advertises a 10% discount. I called back a few days later to speak with the main service guy. I was given an even higher estimate. And when I asked about the AAA discount this time, I was told it would save me $14 and change... on a nearly $500 service. I hung up the phone. I don't trust this business. read more

After listing an initial review and being less than satisfied, woody and I was able to agree on a price that was more fair and addressed the issues with the car. I can see how he would not have known there were engine problems if the car didn't start. To have a business that bends over backwards to have customers satisfied is not something you typically find in a mechanic shop these days. Also, to provide a percentage for a refund speaks loud for who they are. I am, at the end, impressed with this shop and how woody runs it to keep customers satisfied. If you voice your opinion, they will answer and try to get your satisfaction at the end. ___old review_______________________________________________ After reading all the stellar review and how they sounded like they would be very reasonable with price and knowledgeable, I went there to get my car serviced. I purchased a lemon and needed it to work for a new job after losing my job a month before. I heard about all positive experiences... My experience was a little different. What I got was a bill to change a clutch/flywheel (labor only was 876.01) I went out to purchase the actual parts needed because Woody told me it would cost roughly 400$. I went to the local auto store and bought the same exact part/exact brand for about half of what woody quoted me. Any way to save, I went with it. When it was all said and done, I paid roughly a little over $1000 for the clutch/flywheel; would have been closer to $1200 if i didn't shop around. As I started the car, it sounded really really rough. When I asked woody about it, he said the engine may be going out. Wow, what a shock. Maybe I wouldn't have spent 1K on fixing the clutch if I knew the engine was about to go out. Maybe I would have given the car back and got my money back. lots of maybes. I'm definitely sure Woody and his team is knowledgeable enough to get the job done in this tiny shop, but didn't receive that ......don't worry about this or that...complimentary anything. It was all paid for- in full + give or take 20-40% on the top I'd say. For prices like that, I would not expect anything less than perfect. They got an extra star because they were nice, good with customer service, worked late, not really disgruntled like many shops...but hey, that's what you pay those prices for. Great service by Woody and team, when my battery died and was towed by AAA to his station. The battery was proven dead and drained, but AAA failed to reimburse for their battery under guarantee. After explaining the issue and emphasizing the importance of customer service to AAA without resolution, Woody stepped in and gave me a free battery -- even after I offered to pay cost for the battery. This place has excellent customer service! I got my oil changed here last spring (and they send me reminders when I need another!) but haven't been back since. On Wednesday, my car battery was dead and I decided to call to see if they just might be able to come jump my car. Not only did he, he came in under 10 minutes and did it for free. Later, my car was dead again so I decided I would just get a new battery. Again, he came, jumped my car, drove to his shop, and replaced my battery all in under 15 minutes! I don't know if the schedule just happened to be light that day but that is good service period. It was such a nonissue and that made my life all the less stressful. I think the battery was $100, which is a little expensive, but worth the money for the non hassle. They have room to grow in some areas (no waiting area and slightly confusing checkout) but I will definitely go back! read more
