Excellent service, quick, professional - overall a great experience! I needed a quick oil change before I took my car on a week-long vacation, and called around to the places that were well-reviewed and in my area. While other places wouldn't fit me in, Capitol Hill Exxon told me to come over right away at 9am on a weekday morning and had my oil changed within about 45 minutes even though other cars were in the shop. And Woody (the manager, I believe) even helped me track down a front license plate mount for my DC license plates from my car manufacturer, ordered it, and called me the next day to let me know he had it ready and waiting for me. Throughout, everyone was nice and patient with me, making sure I knew when my car would be ready to go. I will definitely be back for my service needs! read more

After my clutch went out at 8th & Pennsylvania on a Saturday afternoon, this was where the tow truck took me (after roadside assistance sent me to a closed shop). Woody was fantastic. He added clutch fluid, and said that he thought I could maybe get it home (75 miles away) if I didn't have to use the clutch too much. He then called around to get the best price on a tow truck since I didn't feel confident about trying to drive. And he let me leave the car there overnight so that I could finish my day in DC and get the tow on Sunday. After all of that, he said "no charge, happy to help" On Sunday morning, after rethinking the cost of a tow, I went onto Yelp and other sites to check out others experiences with this shop. Everything I read mirrored my experience, i.e. Woody and company are helpful, honest people and great mechanics. So I decided to leave my car at Capitol Hill Exxon for a new clutch. I called my regular mechanic Monday morning, and described the problem. He made the same recommendation that Woody had made, and gave me a cost estimate. Woody had everything fixed by Monday afternoon, and the cost was almost $500 less than what I was expecting to pay. I'm pretty sure if I'd taken it to the dealer it would have been twice what I paid. Everyone at this shop went above and beyond to help me get my car fixed. They were willing to talk to my regular mechanic, and were incredibly patient with all of my questions (like "my last clutch lasted 240,000 miles, why did this one go out at 120,000 miles?). Highly recommend these guys!!!! (They also restored my faith in Capitol Hill humanity - after being broken down in the rain and partially blocking traffic and a cross walk, with my hazard lights flashing, the response from pedestrians and police was "get your car out of the cross walk and stop blocking traffic". For 30 minutes while I waited for the tow, NO ONE, including the police officer and 6 cadets offered to help. Finally an elderly man using a cane offered to help, and we were able to get a few other young men to assist. It took all of 30 seconds to get my car out of the traffic lane.) read more

Wednesday night 10/12/2016 close to 10pm after driving all through the city on "E" hoping to find a gas station.. I saw a brightly lit up little station an finally pulled in feeling relieved... Not only were the two bays wide open to give a welcoming OPEN and comforting feeling, they looked clean and bright and had a bright red motorcycle inside and staff working and conversing. It felt comforting.. Then a bright welcoming gentleman in a UNIFORM came to my window as I got ready to get out and offered to PUMP my gasoling and insisted on being a true and rare serviceman, and community neighbor to anyone who came in. This is rare. His name is Reed and I will say one thing: I will drive from Annapolis MD as often as I can now just to make an event happen in DC, so I can FILL UP AT his sweet and professional and neighborly Exxon Gas Station and see Reed if I'm lucky to assist me. Thank you Reed! I had just come from the WHC with a family member ill and worried for another hour or so while searching my way through the city for a gasoline station. God works in mysterious ways. First, I should say that I had gotten my oil changed at this location several times and never had a problem but today I had a mechanic I found extremely offensive so I don't think I will be returning for a while I got my oil changed and the mechanic said that I needed to have some other fluids replaced and then--before I even asked a question--he said, "You're a woman so let me explain it to you by thinking about cooking..." and then went on to compare car fluids to cooking oil in some way that I don't really understand since I don't actually cook all that much. Admittedly, I don't know anything about cars either but that shouldn't be assumed because I'm a woman. Nor should cooking be the go-to metaphor. I told the mechanic that I thought his remark was sexist and then he apologized if he had offended me. I also mentioned it to the manger on duty. I recently moved to DC from Michigan and was having a lot of "unknown" trouble with my Jeep. Basically, all I knew was that my car wouldn't start and it wasn't the battery. I decided to have my Jeep towed to Capitol Hill Exxon via AAA towing because C.H. Exxon was a AAA recommended service shop. Woody and the other service men were professional and approachable (I appreciated their nicely designed logo uniforms too). Although they were very busy, they took my jeep because I had made an appointment online (I recommend doing that). C.H. Exxon figured out what was wrong and fixed a piece in my ignition, instead of replacing the whole starter package. I deeply appreciate them doing the extra research to find a smaller piece for a fraction of the price rather then charging me to replace the whole system. That's very respectable and honest!!! ATTN FEMALE CUSTOMERS: As a young, female that knows "next to nothing" about cars I felt very comfortable talking to Woody and his staff. They took the time to explain in layman's terms what was wrong and were respectable gentlemen. They even were willing to explain the problem on the phone to my father, who lives in Michigan. BEST: My jeep was done at 6:00ish, so Woody came and picked me up in his personal vehicle, so I wouldn't have to metro back over. Very nice, standup guy. Spent $15 on gas and got zero gallons. We rolled on the lot w/ a quarter tank of gas (10 gallon tank). Paid for 3.8 gallons, we should have rolled off with 3/4's of a tank. But no. Ended up going to another gas station and filling the tank w/ 7 gallons. It is mathematically impossible for them to have poured any gas. "3.8" + 7 + original ~2.5 = ~13 gallons of gas in 1 ten gallon tank. Avoid them. read more

I just had a wonderful experience with Capitol Hill Exxon, after having a terrible experience with Capitol Hill Auto Service Center. Because Capitol Hill Auto Service Center was close to my house and I'd heard good things from a friend, I recently took my Honda Civic here for an oil change. It was my first time in the shop. A couple hours after I dropped the car off, they called and said that my entire suspension was shot and the repairs were going to cost $1,500. I don't know much about cars, but something felt off to me, so I took my car to the nearby Capitol Hill Exxon for a second opinion. They did a diagnostic test and said the car was 100% fine. Absolutely no repairs needed. And no charge to me for the diagnostic test. I wish I'd gone to Capitol Hill Exxon in the first place! Thank you for your time and honesty. read more

If you care about customer service l, not the place for you. I took a leap of faith based on the reviews. Very rude to 1st time customers. Or maybe it's because of what I look like. Either way, I won't be here in the future. I told the receptionist I was here to get my tire pressure checked since the light was on. Note that I spoke when I came in and no one spoke back but that was okay I left it alone. He then told me to go outside to the tire guy. All I asked was where do I go obviously because it was my first time and I didn't know and then got a smart remark. The direction he pointed in there was three people so I didn't know who to go to. There's too many other places like Capitol Hill Auto who are near with great prices I only came here because it has a station and I wouldn't have to find parking, along with the reviews. But it's worth going to where I usually go for the better customer service. The guy who put air in my tire was fair. He didn't say anything when he was done though just walked off. Nor did he actually take the gauge and check the pressure according to the recommended PSI for my car tires he just added air and walked off. I had to assume that he was done. I had my window rolled down for that matter for him to communicate but nothing. I'm not used to that type of service so I definitely wouldn't spend not even one dollar here. You have to analyze your competition and make sure you guys are always on your A game because there's so many places really close that people can spend their hard earned dollars elsewhere - that are around the same labor prices or better from what I am seeing about the prices. Trust Woody. I went to get my oil changed at a different service station and was told that I had engine problems and needed my power steering fluid replaced. Took my car to Woody at Capitol Hill Exxon instead of the other place because I'd heard good things, and I told him what the other place had said.
