Stopped by before heading to the Nuggets Championship parade and was pleased to find a local coffee shop that serves good Guatemala coffee . They have anything from expresso, americanos to drip coffee and the staff was nice . I opten for a cortado coffee and added pistachio flavor . Also tried their cold brew coffee and their herbal ice tea and were delicious as well. Presentation of the cortado was beautiful. The neighborhood spot to grab a coffee in the golden triangle. I've been coming here on a regular basis for the last 3 months since I moved to this neighborhood. The location, ambiance and bakery items are all good (the cheese danish is my favorite) I have to mention the inconsistency in the espresso pulls. Very hard to get a consistent espresso shot from this place. Often times the espresso is packed too tightly resulting in more bitter flavor profiles. Lastly I wish they could be slightly more dog friendly. They have dog treats and some tables you can sit outside with your pup. I would love if they offered little cups of whipped cream for my dog as I've asked twice but very thankfully grabbed treats when I was told they don't do those. read more

Very quiet and clean. Not a big cafe but a nice place to get some work done. Smells so good when you walk in and the barista is very friendly not to mention can make a great cortado! The coffee is bold and rich without the over roasted bitter taste. It's like chocolate velvet. Just a tip you must be a customer to use the restrooms. read more

Stopped in yesterday with my teens after some time at the aquarium. Nice cafe interior with simple decor and a basic drink menu. The highlight though were the homemade syrups. One teen had an ice chai and the other had a raspberry vanilla Italian some. I had a nonfat latte with hibiscus syrup. One thing we all noticed was that the syrup flavors came through without the overly sweet taste of the big name syrups. read more

1 star not for the coffee however the service. I live in the neighborhood and Metropolis coffee is the best you can find around in my experienced opinion. I'd say for the most part it's fairly consistent but I can't say the same for the service. Today I had the lovely pleasure to order from a barista that had the audacity to greet me with a sulking eye roll and long sigh to make her annoyance apparent to me because she had cleaned the bar prior to closing and wasn't anticipating costumers. I don't expect people to greet me like the chick fil a workers but I also don't expect to get a side of dreadful attitude either. read more

Gave 2 stars because I loved coming here to grab a coffee "to go" after walking my dog because I live down the block. After a year, I was told today that next time I can't bring my dog in. There was no question as to whether the 8lb Yorkie that was always in my arm was a service animal or ESA. Just you can't do that. I def understand and respect that others may be doing similar and ruining things for the rest of us. Likely bringing their dogs in off leash and not carried. But there are definitely better ways to handle this and ask the appropriate questions. So unfortunately, I'll not be visiting this local coffee shop anymore. My schedule allows for a quick walk with my dog and definitely do not have time to take her home and then run back down. In pre-covid, I would have left her at a table on the patio but the patio is not allowed at this time. Good luck! read more

Visited last Friday afternoon. I live in the neighborhood and finally made it there. The place wasn't super busy. A few tables taken up by people on computers. I ordered a cappuccino in a real mug instead of a cardboard cup. The barista working was friendly and delivered a gorgeous looking and good tasting cup of coffee. I like that they have outside seating (I sat inside because it snowed) and it doesn't feel like a corporate coffee store, more like a neighborhood hangout. Wanted something to nibble on with my coffee and they only had plastic wrapped bread type treats. I was there later in the afternoon and perhaps the pastries had run out for the day. Recovering diet coke addict in the house. And the recovery wasn't going so well on the day I happened to be at Metropolis Coffee. I wanted a diet coke bad...real bad! I pranced right up to the counter excited for my diet coke when the woman behind the counter told me they don't have diet coke at Metropolis. GASP! What kind of place is this? I ordered my 2nd latte of the day and while I think the one I had at Caribou Coffee may have been tastier, it did the trick of giving me some energy. Perhaps a bit too much energy because a few hours later I was getting dressed for a party and had a case of the shaky hands while putting on eyeliner. The eyeliner turned out to look more like eyeshadow....that's what happens when I have 2 lattes in 1 day. So no diet coke, ok lattes, but they do have free wifi! And that deserves an extra star...especially when you live in Chicago where finding free wifi can be a challenge. read more

I like lots of things about this coffee shop. I like that they have tables with chairs or couches/comfy chairs you can sit in. Kudos to them for realizing that different people want different things in coffee shop seating. I like the decor. There are just enough bookshelves and ambient lighting to make it feel warm but not overstuffed. I like that the soundtrack included James Brown, some bluesy music and a little bit of dancey stuff. I absolutely love my Americano. Sometimes I get them and I have to add cream and sugar to make it drinkable even though I prefer most of my coffee drinks black (the exception is diner coffee because there's something about that experience that requires cream and sugar in my mind). Anyway, this one was perfect as is. Finally, I appreciate that the guys working here were willing to keep an eye on my computer when I went to the restroom. You never know when a run-by computer theft could happen. ; ) By the way, this is a cash and check only place ($5 minimum on checks) so don't bring your plastic cause they won't accept it. read more

People come here to get work done, but the atmosphere is not too studious that I feel like I am in a geeky library. Came here on a weekday to get some work done, and was very happy with the atmosphere. The furniture and the color scheme offer a warm and cozy feeling, which is balanced out by the industrial feeling of the exposed piping and tall ceilings. Great atmosphere and location but the baristas are rude and condescending. We all have our days but they seem miserable and look at you like you're an idiot when you order or ask a simple question about a drink. The ambience is nice but in 2 hours there were only 2 busy tables other than mine... There's always a good soundtrack (but it's not too loud!) most people are respectful and quiet (ie not a lot of obnoxious children or cell phone conversations) but still friendly enough that you can make new friends! Great spot of have a meeting! I've been here a couple of times for an afternoon cup of coffee and meeting...and this place rocks. It's not too loud compared to other shops around town and definitely seems like a head down kind of place. The coffee was fantastic (Novo, i think?). The staff was unpretentious and makes you feel welcomed. I love that in a coffee shop!! Now the complaints: Parking can be a pain, though that's not the shop's fault. Prices...don't get me wrong, coffee is a hot commodity in Denver, but geez! $4 for what sounds like a simple small latte hurts the pocket book. I stopped by in the morning around 9:30 A.M. after bringing a friend to work nearby. I wish I had better things to say about Metropolis Coffee, especially since I really wanted to like the place. It has the feel of a modern loft with pictures hanging on the walls for purchase. When I approached the counter, I wasn't impressed with their breakfast selection, so I ended up not ordering anything to eat. (There was only one empanada left and didn't look too appealing.) I ordered a small latte, which was enjoyable enough. The employee who took my order seemed to think that the latte wasn't enough. Once I paid, I waited by the end of the bar to pick up my drink. Admittedly, I was on my phone trying to figure out where to go next in Denver, but the employee never mentioned that my coffee was ready. He just put it on the end of the bar. (I wasn't sure whether it belonged to the guy hanging out at the counter.) There are a ton of electrical outlets spread around the place, which would make it easy to grab some coffee while working, but at the same time, the place didn't seem so friendly. I ended up leaving soon after and was pleased with the coffee but annoyed with the service. No, I wouldn't go to this place again. I'd check out one of the other local coffee shops in Denver. read more

Can't taste the coffee! Got an iced latte on a hot summer day and it tasted like syrup and milk. I usually ground and press my own coffee every morning so you can call me a coffee snob. Not impress with the service or quality of coffee. I tried this place several times because I really wanted to like it-- not many options in the Golden Triangle. Chalk this up to another "thought I already wrote a review of this!" category. I've been here many times over the past 7 months, and I'm surprised I haven't given them their props! I'd say 90% of the time I'm here it's pretty crowded. But that's ok - it's nice to see independent coffee shops busy and thriving. I haven't eaten anything but the scones and shortbread cookies here (the latter are truly divine - super thick cookies, and very fresh and tasty), and often I just order a water if I've already been super caffeinated for the day. That said, I do enjoy their coffee quite a bit and usually stick with a cup of the drip or an Americano, my fave of late. Fast wi-fi, an interesting mix of business-folk and peeps just meeting their friends out for a cup. Great music selections too - today they were playing a low key mix of Cranberries, Lisa Loeb and Alanis Morrissette which made me super happy and made me feel like I was in college. I went here once before I was really active on Yelp. At that time it was cash only so we left and went somewhere else. I never had the desire to go back, however I was early for my appointment at Accent Beauty across the street and decided to get a coffee. I discovered they now accept credit cards. I also discovered that their twelve ounce coffee costs about the same as most other coffee shops' sixteen ounce cup. I don't have a problem with this if you can back it up with a darn good cup of coffee. Unfortunately, this wasn't the case. I've heard good things about Herkimer coffee, however I wasn't impressed, at least with the way it was brewed here. I'm not willing to go back and find out if it was just an off morning. This place fooled me from the look of the outside for a long time. It looked cold and unwelcoming. Well, now that I'm back in school, I needed to find a place to be my study zone- with free wifi. So I began my journey: Starbucks charges by the hour (and its just Starbucks); Cafe Europa's seats are too hard and cold; Michelangelo's coffee isn't good; Caribou's locations aren't central enough; Sputnik is great for drinking, but too dark and dank for studying in the daytime; Ink! and Peet's are too crowded and parking can be tricky; I am feeling defeated. Then I actually went inside Metropolis Coffee. It is just what I am looking for! Its cozy, quiet, free wireless, close to my house, plenty of outlets or extension cords, not crowded, good coffee. Coffee's not amazing or anything, but good. It reminds me of some of my favorite coffee houses in Seattle. They do accept credit cards now, with no minimum. They also don't make you feel like you need to keep ordering food or beverage to stay there, although I do anyway. If you get hungry, delicious and organic Parsley is just across the street. I'll be camped out here on a regular basis for the next few years while I'm completing my MPH degree. read more
