I go there Monday to Friday Morning to buy food before going to work. The Bagels , Omelets, Coleslaw , Potatoes Salad , Hot or Ice Tea - & Flavored Ice Coffee for my Wife is exceptional . Thursday Night from May to Oct is the only Dinner night they are open the same people come all the time the Food then is too die for - plus they always have a cake for someone birthday. They also have a TV for Sports - It's like the Bar from Cheers TV Program. Everybody knows your name. I have been going there for months now and they never disappoint. Bagels are the best in town. Breakfast sandwiches are killer. Place is usually quiet compared to a diner on the weekend. So why 3 stars? I ordered 2 bagel sandwiches, an OJ and an Iced coffee and it took 1.5 hours to have delivered. As you can imagine bagels were soggy and cold. Just got a Grubhub order for breakfast, ordered Belgian waffles and the batter went bad so the waffle's sour... I would call and complain but I'm not waiting another 40 min for food. Just be careful what you eat from here. Only reason I gave them an extra star was other food we had from here previous to this was not bad. read more

Best place for weekend bagels! Love to come here and sit down instead of bringing a bagel home like most places in the area. My fiancé loves the egg sandwiches and I love their bagel w/ cream cheese, lox, capers, & onions. Their flavored coffee is also AMAZING! The best bagels I've ever had. They're smaller than what you're used to, but they are perfect just the way they are. I make a habit to go here at least once a week for a bagel sandwich - egg, spinach and avocado on an everything bagel. No one else has done it better. bagels are tasty, crusty outside, chewy inside sandwiches are delicious as well the prices are kinda high for a local cafe if you order anything besides a special, each component is an additional charge so in the end, a sandwich can cost $10-$12...hello nyc deli prices! service is a crap shoot...there is definitely an issue with handling multiple customers a simple order, bagel or sandwich, at the counter, will have a better chance of making it through without a hitch...i wouldn't bother with delivery great food but the sporadic service makes this an occasional spot read more

Food is okay. Some good things to eat but service is the worse. Very unorganized always behind with orders always confused. Ordering for delivery forget it your better off going to the supermarket and making it yourself it's faster believe me. I'm talking you have to order a good two hours in advance. It's a shame place has potential but they just can't step up. Food is good a few items are very good if they have it. So many times we went to pick up order and it's almost never ready and you have to substitute items because they run out of things. If they change their systems maybe I'd be a customer again but for now they are off the list. Me and my family keep try to give them the benefit of the doubt but it never works out. Wow. Small sandwiches. Expensive. Subpar presentation. We had a rocky balboa chicken Caesar wrap and an egg sandwich. $32. If the sandwiches were larger and had more substance it probably be worth it. My friend said the Caesar salad dressing was just sitting in his stomach. My balboa was eh. In the 25mins it took me to receive my toasted everything bagel with cream cheese and crispy bacon, I watched a man make someone else's bagel with no gloves, dropping a receipt into the trash bin then scooping it out with bare hands only to continue making the sandwich with unwashed post trash hands. I watched another guy who cleaning off the dirty plates that came back into the kitchen take the 1/2 eaten butter from all 4 plates and put it back into the serving vat for recycling it...THANK GOD I hadn't ordered butter...I watched everyone doing different things(none having to do with serving anyone else let alone me) while neither my bagel was being toasted nor any bacon frying. I'm finally asked what I'm waiting for and I repeat 'toasted everything bagel with cream cheese and bacon'. I'm handed a bag with a toasted bagel and cream cheese and an order of bacon on the side wrapped in foil. I go back and ask them to put the bacon IN the bagel. I was served AT LAST!!! As I sit down at home to eat it, I unwrapped a plain bagel with soggy bacon. Did I mention 4 people ordered and were served AFTER I had ordered, and when they got around to making mine, I was the only order they had to prepare...ZERO excuse, not to mention the gross health code violations read more

SO I gave this place one more try..BIG MISTAKE. I ordered online, and the amount it came to online was different than the amount on the receipt they brought me. Delivery was quick, but I specified for them to call me and not ring my bell which of course they rang the bell anyway and woke my sleeping baby who proceeded to cry for the next 20 minutes and my food got cold. I got fries which were nothing special at all. Not good..and how hard is it to fry a damn potato? Fries are always tastey! Here, not so much. I also ordered a panini with turkey and munster cheese with mustard. I have no idea what kind of cheese they put in my sandwich but it was NOT munster. The turkey was slimy. Almost no mustard, no flavor at all. I took one bite and tossed it. What a waste of money. The only good thing was the side of bacon I ordered which was steep at 3 bucks (I had to have a $15 minimum for them to deliver) but good. But its bacon..it is always always amazing. Although most of the food taste decent, they can never get our order correct. I ordered a sandwich with no mayo, said it twice, asked the girl if she understands no mayo - she said yes.... Order comes - with mayo. They are over priced as well, most places that charge you $7.75 for a sandwich include fries and at least cole slaw, this place gives you no fries and then when you ask if it comes with cole slaw they tell you "It doesnt but we can give you a small thing of it" and then when you look over your bill you will find that thy charged you for the cole slaw. Every weekend, or whenever I have spare time, I always stop by what my family and I call the Bagel Store, for a cappuccino and an everything bagel. The food is always sublime and all of the food preparation (and the whole restaurant of course) is very clean. The group of old men who own the cafe are always hanging out there and are lovely people. They make a conscious effort to get to know their regulars and make sure to always greet them with a smile. The teenage girls, who work the weekends as of a few months ago, really hold the joint together, and they haven't gotten my order wrong once. Now... Onto the cons/ bad experiences I've had with them. About six months ago, one of the people who really made sure the orders were correct, left to go back to her home country. After that, I was worried that they would have to close. They were getting orders wrong left and right, they were burning bagels, and muffins, etc. And additionally, even when they got your order wrong, it would be a 25 minute wait. As for bad experiences, I was in Hackensack, NJ, Bergen County, on business. I wanted to order from them because their website states FREE DELIVERY TO HUDSON AND BERGEN COUNTY. I called to make sure they would deliver before I ordered online. The man who answered said: Hackensack, that's a little far don't you think? Maybe if I had a few days notice, I might be able to send someone over, but it would have to be a giant order. I said thank you and he hung up the phone. It wasn't only his bit of an attitude, but it also annoyed me that I shouldn't have to call to make sure you will deliver, if your website says you will. However, I will say that I love the bagel store, will always continue to return on my weekends, and they have come a long way since screwing up orders left and right. read more

The bagels and sandwiches are good but absolutely not worth the horrible and unacceptable service from everyone there!!! I received my order an hour after the promised time from the online order. According to the girl on the phone, the boss and the delivery man this was my fault and I was a liar. I called between 8:30 (promised time) and 9:30 about 6 times and I became more frustrated with each call I made. The people were rude and nasty and the "boss" did not make one attempt to try to pacify me in any manner. If that was me and I was the "boss" I would be apologizing profusely and offering a free coffee or a refund or something!!!!!!! This "boss" did nothing on the phone but argue and call me a liar and tell me I did not know what I was talking about and that he was right about everything. I can understand if a place has an hour wait for a delivery of food that was just called in. But I placed this order a week in advanced on their online service that gives a choice for times. They should take this option out since they don't abide by it. I will never ever eat here ever again and I plan to spread the word to get other people to Never order from here or give any business to this place full of rude and nasty people who know nothing about running a business and customer service ! Crappy customer service!!!! I ordered a dozen bagels with cream cheese and butter on the side, sausage links, chocolate milk and and iced coffee. Took over an hour to get me my order after calling about 3x and each time they say it should be right there. Finally the guy came and my bill was 27. In my email it was 20.76. So they charged me for the butter and cream cheese without even asking me. As a guy walks away and I take my food inside I realize that he forgot to give me my coffee so I call them back and they call him and then I still have to call them back to find out where my coffee is after another 10 minutes and they said I had to make you a new one so they're going to send it out because the delivery driver gave it to the wrong customer. Another 15 minutes go by and still no ice coffee so I called them back and I said do you know when my coffee is going to be here and then she goes hold on and I hear them's in the background say coffee girl and I hear them laughing and talking and then they put me on hold for about one minute and then hang up. So I called back again, they pick up and hang up right away I call back again, they pick up hang up right away. This happened about five times until I called from a different number and then they answer saying oh we're having problems with our telephone. So I mentioned to them why did you tell me that you were going to give me a new coffee and then never show up or just hang up the phone on me and they go because you complained about us charging you for the butter and cream cheese so we're not going to give you the coffee . This is disgusting. I would never treat a customer like this. I work with the food industry and this is no way to treat somebody. This is just another job where people don't wanna work. This place will never receive another order from me and I order almost every week from them. Bye metro cafe. You ain't worth the money. read more
