So my beloved Lora Papetsas, who is a Michelin star trained chef not only in French cuisine but also in Italian cuisine when she had a 20+ year run in her restaurant up in Cape Cod always cook something wonderful for us. However, we wanted to try something that seemed very interesting. I found the Milano market that offers great sandwiches which is up the block from a friend of mine's high-end supermarket on the west side. After looking at this, we decided to order four sandwiches. A salmon, Eggplant Parm, Cuban and Italian sub sandwiches. I have to say the most important thing in the sandwich is the bread. They offered like fresh baked rustic Ciabatta, and heros. Plus from the panoply of various sandwiches that they make they don't skimp on the condiments or the main ingredients. The salmon which is hard to do was fresh and medium not well done or dry. The eggplant Parm was amazing. The Cuban delicious with fresh pulled pork and stiletto thin ham with an amazing bite made me want to speak a different language, and the Italian made both of us speak in Italian because my beloved speaks fluent Italian and I am part Sicilian. This place is truly a cut above. If you want a sandwich that is truly a meal, this place really doesn't disappoint. Will definitely be going there from time to time for something amazing. read more

I visited this establishment for this time this past Friday. I work nearby and I decided to get a sandwich for lunch. I chose the Tuna Melt #2. It gets very busy here so I waited a little bit before my order was taken. But the sandwich was so delicious it was worth the wait. I have visited Milano Market on several occasions to pick up a quick lunch due to it's proximity to Columbia University. The thing that kept me returning to Milano is that the market has a massive variety of sandwiches and salads - all for a reasonable cost. On a recent trip to New York, we went to visit the Columbia campus as that is where my bf went to school. While there, he brought me to this deli which he said was his favorite place to eat while he was in-season and training (collegiate athlete)... I totally see why. This is an authentic experience with friendly staff, delicious food and huge portions. I got the prosciutto burrata sandwich with fig jam with a Topo Chico to go and it was fantastic. We took our lunch to a nearby spot with gorgeous views to enjoy and it was one of my favorite pieces from the trip. While this deli isn't cheap and is comparable with other New York prices, the food is worth it and I'd 100% go back! My sister has been wanting to try this place for a couple years now. I think it's one of the reasons she wanted to come back to NYC! This high end grocery store does not have a place to eat in so plan ahead to eat on the go or a different destination. Everything looked delicious. We split a chicken Caesar wrap. The thing was massive, quite heavy when holding the wrap. Hats off to you if you can eat a whole one in one sitting. I recommend splitting it. The guys at the counter were very nice and quick! Their customer service is HORRIBLE! Staff is very rude and they are unorganized for the level of business they receive.

Came in expecting a normal experience and left pretty frustrated. Staff clearly need better awareness and communication. I was standing with someone who had already ordered, and instead of asking if we were together or taking my order as well, I was completely ignored. after going to MM on the east side i HAD to go again. the west side location is pretty much the exact same as the east side in terms of menu and layout. the staff was incredibly kind upon entering, ordering, and paying i had to get the Caesar wrap since this lives rent free in my head. unfortunately the one on the east side is sliiiightly better than this one (cant explain it, just has better flavors i fear). but this still was EXCELLENT and really hit the spot 10000/10 will be back read more

I ordered the E7 Brutus sandwich. I waited and then went to pay. I paid with a credit card, but when the tipping option came up, the cashier never gave me the pay terminal to select a tip. She never closed out the tip option either. The terminal was still open and waiting for the tip selection to be made. I was also not offered a receipt. I then asked for a receipt and was given one and left. When I got home, I checked my bank account as it was an odd interaction. If you look on their website, the E7 sandwich with tax is $15.77. I was given a receipt for $17.67. My credit card, however, was charged $18.20. I'm now disputing the charge with my bank since it seems either Milano Market wants to add charges after the fact that are higher than they say initially or their staff are adding tips to credit cards without customer approval. read more

The No. 41 Milano Special is one of the best approximations of the classic Philly Italian Hoagie in NYC, especially if you get it without roasted peppers and basil and with the roll not toasted. Delicious sandwich, fresh quality ingredients, good bread, put together by skilled craftsmen. Good drinks and sides too (Dr. Brown's!). Just two small dings on this place. First, the lunch line is crowded and chaotic. I know you don't want to bother doing this, but I think you will have to do the Zabars thing and make people take numbers, just so that they don't crowd the front of the store. Second, the menu is just too darn long. We don't need to slog through a choice of over 100 sandwiches.
