I'm a big fan of Metropolitan Bakery, so I was looking forward to trying the pizza here. Unfortunately, I left disappointed. I had the sausage pizza, with fennel & red onion. The sausages were good, although I wished there were a few more. The problem with the pizza is the crust. It tastes fine, but even with the edges slightly crisp the bottom of the pizza is not at all crisp. Even though the slices are small, you can't hold up a slice with one hand and eat it, without the crust going completely limp and the slice falling apart. My co-worker's pizza was the same way. With so many places to get pizza, Metropolitan has got to do better to get my repeat business. My meal ended with a slice of chocolate cake. The same cake you can get next door at the bakery. It's very rich and very good, but I can just grab this at the bakery for take out without coming into the cafe. Service was friendly but a bit slow as there was no communication between the person making pizza and the person slicing the cake. If u order both u have to make sure u communicate that the cake in one place goes with the pizza being handed to you in another place. At first I didn't realize that was my responsibility.

I definitely owe my friend for showing me this hidden gem. I love metropolitan bakery but I have a feeling I will love this addition even more! There is a hearty selection of toasts, pizzas and breakfast all day options for lunch and dinner. Best of all, you order and pay at the counter and they bring the food to the table. Makes it a quick and easy spot for anytime of day. My thoughts on what we ate ( shared amongst the 4 of us) 1) Avocado toast - Devine. Should come with an egg too. 2) Ricotta and asparagus toast - anything with ricotta = YUMMY 3) Mushroom pizza - loaded with mushrooms, tasty! 4) Corn and tomato pizza - interesting combo, glad I tried it once but not sure if I would get it again. 5) Chocolate cake - probably one of the best I've had in philly. 6) BYOB!!!

Pepperoni pizza was flat with tough crust and just all grease! It's quality definitely went down.

I've always loved getting breakfast at Metropolitan Cafe (especially with their morning granola bowl), and was excited to try their new pizza for the first time for lunch today! Was shocked to open yelp and see it having such poor reviews. I've always found service great at this place, especially for not being a sit down restaurant! This was always a cafe where the workers were friendly and willing to give advice on what to order and information about what's inside certain items. There are always plenty of items I enjoy here, and had a hard time choosing one to try. I asked the people working here for their advice for something vegetarian, and they recommended the asparagus and farm fresh egg pizza. It comes with truffle cheese and is so delicious! I wasn't craving pizza when I came here, but was so happy with what I ordered, and was glad I got to try something new! I also ordered a cappuccino. Metropolitan gets their coffee beans from Green Street, and I always love the taste of their coffee (and I can be a bit of a coffee snob). I noticed they now have homemade ice cream at metropolitan, which I will have to try during my next visit! Also, I came during a Sunday during lunch time and I found seating easily, and got great service (an earlier review suggested that service and seating is awful on weekends here, and I didn't find that to be true at all!)

Not open for breakfast during the week- take note!

I hate to say it, but the avocado toast was not as mind-blowing as usual (my past reviews are on the Metropolitan Bakery page - they've split the listing). The coffee is still excellent and I love the vibe, but the toast was burnt first and after one bite I had to give it back. They remade it, but it was still really hard to eat. I picked my hotel around being near her for breakfast, as I've been doing on my last few Philly visits. :) But the avocado toast was a disappointment. Also they don't open til 11 am these days on weekdays, which was a surprise - lots of us were lined up outside on a hot day. But I would come again for the coffee and hopefully the other dishes here. It has always been a favorite.

I got a chocolate chip walnut cookie and seasonal blueberry scone and they were both great! The shop itself was super adorable and staff were very friendly! All in all, a great little find near Rittenhouse Square. I wish I would've picked up some granola and baguettes to go!

Ricotta toast and Mexican eggs. (Mexican eggs are so good).

This swanky, hip place…read moreoffers up elevated tasty food and superb service in an exquisitely decorated, albeit small, cafe. We braved negative degree weather for the roughly 10 minute walk from our hotel. We walked in at a good time. This is the type of place where a reservation for breakfast would be required. We were sat immediately. The dining area is tight. A green velvet bench, marble tables, metal chairs, all packed into a small area. You could very well have your butt brush over the table of the patrons next to you if you have to get up for any reason. It's tight. Our server was around quickly. He was super friendly and kept things conversational, light and sophisticated. My wife ordered an iced latte, I had their hot drip coffee. For a starter, we had to try the cinnamon knot bread. While it wasn't what we were expecting, it was good. Although, we wouldn't order again. The bread is presented as a small loaf, room temperature with a cold cream cheese icing drizzled over top. The bread had a mild cinnamon flavor and was dry. It lacked the sweet, moist dough you expect from a cinnamon bread. My wife ordered the French style omelet. This had gruyere cheese and chives. Beautifully plated, perfectly cooked and the taste was spot on. It was good enough to forget that she paid $21 for just an omelet, no meat, no sides. I ordered the Eggs Benedict. Pretty standard here. The eggs had bright orange yolks which is common for farm fresh eggs. The "coffee" hollandaise didn't come across with a coffee flavor but it was rich and went well with the ham and English muffins. One thing that stuck with me was their drip coffee. Not sure if it has been a while since I had a light roast but the Rival Bros. Revolver coffee was so good, I got a bag of whole beans to bring back home with me. I may even order it again online. Enswell succeeded on all fronts. The ambiance and service was great. The decor, impeccable. The food, thoughtful and tasty. The details from the silverware to the plates added to the experience. We would come back.

The crab fries and garlic bread are no skips. I hope to come back to try more food! We were lucky to get a table, the hostess was really nice and even found us outside to let us know we could make it! It does get really busy so I felt a bit rushed out but it was all good.

We ordered our drinks on the walk there and we hoped they would be ready when we arrived. When we walked in the time changed to add about 15 min on which was a bit annoying however we were not in a rush so we calmly waited. I got the hot matcha latte and it was really good. I like only a drop of sweetener bc I like to taste the matcha. I like it served temperature hot (not warm)- and this drink arrived exactly the way I like it. Would def come back for another one. My bf got some kind of coffee w cardamom in it (sorry I forget which kind - I'm not a coffee drinker and they all sound the same to me ha). He really enjoyed his drink. He had a BOGO coupon so we each actually got 2 drinks. I planned to take my second one home but the drink was so good I drank both of them ha. Will def be back again.

What…read moreI appreciated about Haraz on the day I visited was the late hours they kept, I visited on a Saturday night and it was buzzing. It's the fanciest looking coffee house I ever visited, there's outside seating which is nice and the inside is lit up with warm yellow lighting throughout, very spacious with tables and wicker like chairs. It seems like a great spot to meet up with a friend or to visit, find a corner read or work. It looks like a family establishment, as I noticed there were children behind the register, a young man, maybe 10 years old took my order and did a great job doing so! Bravo! I purchased a vanilla hot matcha latte and a pistachio milk cake, the total was about $21!!! This price was expensive, visiting establishment like this often is not feasible to my budget but there's so much more I need to try so I'll be back. The matcha was amazing, actually the most authentic I've tried!!! And the pistachio milk cake was delicious, being a person who literally puts milk on cake lol, this was amazing!!! It wasn't too sweet and the pistachio gave balance! The slice is enough to share or split for 2 servings, which is what I did. Bottom line, I'll be back! I'd love to try their coffee and another pastry and possibly sit outside on a nice day. Please visit and enjoy!!!
