If you're a fan of my work, you know that I shop in the husky section and have an affection for pants with elastic waistbands which means you need to take my reviews seriously. I had to travel up to Massachusetts on Monday and I was quite disappointed with the lack of a New England accent on anyone. We used to be a proper country. In any event, on Monday, I went to Mexica Burrito Grill. I met a man, on the line in front of me who insisted this place was good. I was skeptical because, I don't know this guy and why was he being so friendly? I ignored the warning signs and assumed he may be correct as he too was a husky gentleman. I ordered a burrito bowl with carnitas. I told them to include the rice and beans, because a man needs fuel that sticks to the ribs, along with double carnitas, cheese, and nothing else that sounded like it belonged in a rabbit's lunch. No vegetables, no salsa, no cilantro trying to ruin a perfectly good meal. They delivered. The carnitas were delish, properly seared, and tasted like actual pork that had been treated with respect (salt, heat, and time). The rice and beans did their job, simple, hearty, and not pretending to be anything fancy. No lectures about "fresh ingredients" or where the avocado came from. No one cares, Chad. Just a solid bowl of meat and starch, which is how God intended bowls to be used. I ate it back at the hotel with a black coffee and a pocketknife for portion control. Felt like I could split logs afterward. This is acceptable food. I may return. Highly recommended for men who understand that beef or pork are staples, with enough rice and beans to keep the machine running. read more

Got my standard and plain order at Taquerias that offer ground beef. 3 ground beef tacos with shredded cheese and their hottest sauce or salsa. The ground beef was very fatty. The tacos were sitting in a pool of it after walking from the counter to a table and were leaking a lot while eating. One taco had a ton of salsa and the other two had next to none. Also pretty light on cheese. The roja had good flavor but wasn't very spicy. Ended up adding Valentina hot sauce that they had available. The meal was a bit cheaper then other places in the area. This is an excellent restaurant with quality food and substantial portions. This is more feedback for ownership. This place is my favorite and eat here 2 plus times a week, here are issues i see consistently, that i would address if it was my business: - checkout cashier often just assumes the order is to go, rather than dine in. They do ask about 25% of the time. But most orders are packed to go without asking making me feel unwelcome to stay. -they charge for a small side of salsa - this is ok - but when you charge for it, you cannot also only half fill it. Im paying for a side of salsa, it's a 1oz cup, just fill it. - staff take breaks and sit in the dining room playing videos and taking phone calls on speaker aloud, competing with ambient music. It's unacceptable to play anything on speaker in any public setting or restaurant, let alone do so as an employee. - burrito rolling - im a guy that orders lots of burritos at lots of places. This is common all around, and burritos can be hard to roll or tortillas rip. That said, a little quality control goes a long way. A few times, the employee rolling the burrito made an absolute mess of it and just wrapped ij in foil and sent me on my way. On one occasion this happened i just threw away the entire meal as it was pretty disappointing from a favorite spot of mine, i was frustrated and didn't have time to fix. Needed a vegetarian meal near where we were staying. Found this place on Yelp and gave it a try. You order at the counter and it was really quick; we were on line for just a few minutes and had time to look at the menu board above and behind. They offer burritos, bowls, quesadillas, taco - barbacoa, pork, chicken, I think a couple of other meats, or veggie. We both had the veggie burritos. There's a loooong list of what can be included; for example, yellow or white rice, bean choices, salsa, queso, lettuce, cheese...and a couple of dollars extra if you add guacamole. We instead chose a side of guacamole and chips for about 4.50. I added veggies, Spanish rice, black beans, jalapeños, cilantro, lettuce, cheese, corn, salsa, queso, maybe another thing or two - this was one very stuffed burrito! Hubby skipped the jalapeño, the cheese. We shared the guac/chips. They do have beer and a fridge with sodas, water, maybe juices? You tell the cashier here or to go and get a basket or a brown paper bag. When we'd devoured the burritos we still had some time, so we shared a pretty decent flan! Very good for a fast, very casual, but tasty supper. Pay card or cash and there's a tip jar. Take some napkins, and forks or spoons if you need. Hit the spot for us this evening! read more

This place is solid. I rolled into Mexica around 5:45 and it was very busy. The staff were very nice and fast. I ordered a chicken burrito bowl with Spanish rice, black beans, queso, cilantro, pico de gallo, salsa, and a side of chips and guac. Everything was delicious. Forget Chipotle or Moe's. This is the real deal. Fast service, low-key but clean and neat. I've been here 4 times in the last few years and it's never less than excellent. Generous with the ingredients. And if you like a little heat, ask for the jalapeños. They are roasted? And a great addition to a burrito or bowl. My kids love this place too! We stop anytime we are near Tewksbury for hockey. read more

Everything I have had from here was a 10 out of 10! The Carne Asada is super flavorful and tender. The AL Pastor is great and tender. The salsa verde is amazing. Love this place. I eat here atleast once a week. read more

The food was delicious and the service was excellent. The chicken al pastor was especially good and the roasted jalapeños were a nice treat that I haven't seen before anywhere else. While my daughter and I were there for lunch we counted no less than three local police officers coming in to get their lunch to go, which is always a good sign in my opinion (the police always eat the best local food ). read more

I am disappointed i loved this place ordered at least 2xs a month or more well lately they havent been so great i ordered 2 chicken burritos the chicken was burnt and seemed like most of it was scrapped from bottom of pan was so hard. I tried calling to speak with manager the 1st call they hung up on me 2nd time they said no manager available until tomorrow i am extremely disappointed in what they are becoming just like any other new business once they receive the buisness the fall apart on customer service which is sad because i looked forward to their food i have attached pics so you can see the chicken that was supposed to be edible read more

The most terrible food delivery I have ever encountered. They left off alot of the order, didnot follow instructions (i.e. salsa on the side) in fact it was not included. The meat in both the tacos and nachos was so overdone one needed a chain saw. No tomatoes, onions, or queso. Their food is medicore at best. You have to watch your order. If you blink they will charge you extra. There was a container with white stuff. They dropped a dew drops and claimed it was Quesoand it was more like sour cream. A few drops of Queso cost $2.50 and the overall portions are terrible. Better stick to Chipotle. read more

My family loves the food here. It is not too greasy and all their sides and sauces are always fresh and tasty. Service is good as well and most importantly the quality is consistent. I love the potatoes they serve, being a vegetarian it's a great addition to my bowls and burritos. Their horchata is pretty good and not overly sweet and very refreshing- a must order. Their crunchy tacos are very good and so are their bowls and burritos. The meat is generously portioned and perfectly tender every time. Their Salsa Roja is smoky and has a lovely kick to it. Salsa Verde is packed with flavor and is a little milder, definitely our favorite! As long as I am ordering at the restaurant or their website, you get your order right. But we had the food delivered a few times via delivery services and there is always something missing in my bowls/burritos. They also need to keep the drinks next to the food, the drivers always seem to miss them. They have $5 burritos on Monday's but it's only for meat burritos. I wish they would do this deal for veggie burritos. I have asked a few times and they wouldn't do it in spite of the fact that I think it might be cheaper than serving meat. I was craving for nachos and was looking for a place that somewhat have a more authentic taste and better queso than your average Moe's or Chipotle. I got nachos with ground beef and all the toppings as usual. First off, the ground beef is pretty plain and not seasoned. Queso was runny and not thick but it tasted okay. They are very generous with the toppings so that's good. I also ordered al pastor tacos on the side and that was pretty flavorful compared to the ground beef. Overall, I would probably go for al pastor meat with my nachos next time. read more

Do you like Chipotle? Great. This is your local Tastes-Fresh-as-Heck alternative to Big Burrito and it's way leveled up. Great typical meat choices with delicious seasoning - carnitas, barbacoa, et al - but it's the fillings that really shine. Super fresh salsa, veggies, corn... it was amazing. Huge burritos for $8. Sides and add ons were all wonderful as well - guac and salsa have my seal of approval, and we even got a churro and a brownie to share and those also got a nice stamp of approval from us. 10/10, would burrito here again. read more

I've been to Mexica several times since it first opened several years ago. I will say that it was very good when they first opened but has drastically gone down hill the past few years. I'm very surprised by all the great reviews and felt that I needed to add my opinion here for anyone considering coming here. First off, I love Mexican cuisine and feel that most restaurants nowadays have some sort of Mexican dish on their Menu. Which comes to my first negative for Mexica, their Guacamole. It's terrible! Some of the worst guacamole I've ever purchased at a Mexican establishment. It's runny, tasteless and always discolored. The fact that I can can better Guac and Chips at a place like Tavern in the square or The Yard House is sad. Also the half bag of tortilla chips they offer is disappointing. Second, I'm a burrito lover and it's always a go to for me at any Mexican restaurant. I love spicy and it seems that's a struggle for Mexica. I'm not sure if their so called "spicy" ingredients just aren't spicy or if they don't add enough but I add any spicy ingredients I can to my burritos and theirs is lackluster. Also the jalapenos taste like the ones you would buy in a can. Those are never spicy, they are just salty. Third, the service meh. It would be nice if the staff smiled once and a while instead of treating you like cattle in an assembly line while building your burrito. It's not a fun experience. It's understandable that they don't want to hold up the line while someone picks their toppings but you feel so rushed during the process that by the end of it you don't remember what they added to your meal or if there was something you missed. They have 3-4 people passing your burrito around adding ingredients and they just stare at you blankly each time it's their turn. The only reason this isn't a 1 start review is because the Pork Carnitas is always good and delicious. read more

I don't know what this place thinks they can get away with, selling a la carte tacos the way they do. No diced onions or cilantro like traditional street tacos. SHADY! They charged my credit card twice, for two different amounts, AND REFUSED TO GIVE ME A REFUND!!! I spotted the error immediately (thankfully discover sent me a notification) and asked the cashier to take care of it. Confused, she referred me to the manager. Instead of apologizing or offering to fix the problem, the manager insinuated that I was lying before eventually telling me to just go home and that they would give me a refund if they found that they messed up... but refused to provide any documentation of the event. SERIOUSLY?!? When I told him I felt like I was getting robbed and made it clear I wasn't going to leave without a real resolution, HE PHYSICALLY THREATENED ME. He eventually retracted the threat, but then proceeded to make me wait another 30 minutes while he called their cc processor to confirm - which was clearly a tactic to get me to leave. After calling me a liar, physically threatening me, and wasting 30 min of my life, he eventually gave me a refund AFTER I THREATENED TO CALL THE COPS. The second time 1 was perfect, the other was a bit tough-tasting rather than light as if it was PREVIOUSLY fried (They come 2 to each order) & stale. Today I decided to give them another chance. This place is to Mexican food what Friendly's was to fine dining. My only experience was a burrito that included corn. The corn they use must be dried corn that has to be rehydrated, too bad because this dry, crunchy corn put me off & was almost inedible. Also dropped a star for the lack of proper PPE during a pandemic, cover you mouths & noses guys! With options for good Mexican around I don't think I will give these guys another chance to disappoint me. read more
