Decent Mexican food not a big fan of their chips though. Huge portions and decent prices

We tried calling in to place an order ahead of time but after trying multiple times and them never answering the phone, we gave up and just drove right there. We got there at 7:40pm, 20 minutes before they closed. My husband walked up to the door behind another couple to go in and order our food while I sat in the car. The open sign was still lit. After several minutes had passed, I assumed my husband had placed the order fine, as common sense would say if the kitchen wasn't accepting orders anymore, they should have immediately told my husband when they saw him walk in. Ten minutes pass and he comes out looking pissed. He tells me they took the order of the couple that walked in just before him, then walked to the window and turned off the open sign and disappeared as if he wasn't standing there waiting the whole time. It was another couple minutes until they came back to the counter and tell him they aren't taking any more orders. Are you serious? It's not like they didn't see him standing there waiting for TEN MINUTES. They looked at him, knew he was there and chose to ignore him. Pandemic or not, that is NOT how you conduct business. Thanks for wasting our time. Train your staff how to properly pay attention to customers and how to have proper customer service and maybe while you're at it, how to use a phone. I would have been more than understanding had he just been told upon entry that they weren't taking orders anymore (but then why did the couple literally right in front of him get to place their order?) but here we are. What a pisspoor second time going (well, trying to go) here. Never going back. read more

In an inconspicuous location on a not so well-known street, Mariachi Mexican is a diamond in the rough! A co-worker orders us fish tacos - I had never them so I was all-for-it. They were tasty and the following day another co-worker decided she wanted more fish tacos. I figured it best to check the menu and try something else. That's when I found it....the SURF and TURF Burrito. Steak...and shrimp....together...WITH GUAC! Huge and heavy and bursting with authentic flavor. I poured volcano sauce over the remaining bites and dunked those bites in sour cream....and I missed it when it was gone. I immediately called Chipotle and broke the news : I won't be coming back, but I hope to see you around. But seriously, they are always super nice and accommodating. The food is terrific and the prices are great for the amount of food they serve. I've never been to the other locations. read more

I concur w/ some of the other reviews noting relatively high prices for tacos + burritos, etc. This is a review ONLY for the breakfast burrito. At $4 for the breakfast burrito - it's a really good deal + when you get the burrito you'll be overwhelmed - in a good way. It's a good 1.25 to 2.00 pound burrito filled with egg, shredded cheese, and bits of chorizo (if you choose the chorizo). Warm, tasty, flavorful. Cheese not too melted, with almost the consistency of shredded potatoes. Also - choice of mild or picante salsa. Despite admonitions from the waitress that it was really spicy, it was not too hot. Super friendly staff + offered free samples of tres-leches cake and flan on my first visit. Flan was so-so, but tres-leches was delightful. Free coffee too - but I'd say skip the lukewarm, very weak java + head elsewhere for your morning cup of joe. If you're looking for a good hearty egg burrito breakfast though, you can't go wrong at Mexican Mariachi. read more

Solid food in a low key atmosphere. Good quality and quantity for a very reasonable price. Today was my second visit and brought my Dad and brother along this time. Because the food is made per order it does take a little time but the complimentary chips and salsa will hold you until you food arrives. The staff is very nice. Would prefer a bit more beverage selection but they do offer water and a standard selection of canned sodas. read more

Mariachi is quick and authentic Mexican food and it's 800x better than chipotle in my opinion. The staff is always really friendly. It's also reasonably priced and everything I've had on the menu is delicious. My favorite is probably the enchiladas. Their chips and salsa are also really good, but their hottest sauce isn't really that hot. read more

Authentico! There is something about this place that makes you think you just walked into a local secret. The carne asada is really juicy and flavorful. 2 tacos, rice, and refried beans is enough food for me. The meal portion is a little more meat and 1 extra tortilla to make 3 tacos. Flautas are great if you want something fried. Tres leches and the impossible are amazing deserts. read more

My family absolutely loves mexican food, and lately the restaurants local to my home have been on the disappointing side. We were in the area and looking for food later than normal dinner time, this popped up on google maps so we decided to try it. What a wonderful surprise. The total for 3 of us to eat was $35.00 - outstanding value for the food we got. We ordered in the restaurant and waited to take the food out. While we were waiting, they gracioulsy gave us some chips and 2 different kinds of salsa while we were waiting. The chips are just basically deep fried tortillas, nothing special about it them, but the salsas were great. One was a red salsa with some kick to it, with a little bit of a smoky flavor, the other was a green salsa which was excellent! 2 of us got the mariachi plate, which was described as a bit of a sampler of different foods. While it wasn't 'inspired' food, just basic burritos, tostadas, and flautas, it was good food. The rice could have been a little less bland, but they did put some corn in there for additional flavor. The other person got the mixed fajita salad with steak. The bowl was a little greasy, but I suspect it was likely fried earlier in the day and had been sitting for a while, so that's excusable for the time of day we were there. If it had been earlier, the bowl likely would have been a little fresher. The meat was very nicely flavored and the fajita vegetables on the salad were cooked perfectly in my opinion. Just cooked enough to leave some crunch in them without being raw. There is no dressing included, but throw some of the green salsa on - wonderful! All in all, a great experience and we will be back! read more

Honestly I have mixed feelings about this place. Some dishes are great, others are simply not that exciting. The chicken burrito was very filling but lacked spice/cilantro etc. I recommend the beef tacos, comes with guac which makes it perfect. Complete with beans and rice. Chips are meh. When choosing salsa, do not be afraid of the labeling, the volcano salsa is perfect even though they consider it to be extremely spicy ---not the case. read more

I love Mexican food. I was excited to try this new place close to home. Very disappointing. Mixed reactions. Staff super friendly. I got take out very late. They made no complaint that I came in just minutes before closing. Chips good. Salsa ok, lacked spice and seasoning. Guacamole was ok, no salt, no lime, no cilantro, no spark. Avocados were ripe and tasty. Carne asada burrito was good, not great. Again the resonating thought is... bland. Flautas (my wife's order) looked and tased like the frozen version. Disappointing. Refried beans and rice were very plain. Tres leches cake was very good. My wife's chocolate cake was grainy in the icing and dry in the cake. Not the best combo. Not cheap either. Bill was close to 30 bucks. Probably won't be back unless the get Ramsay kitchen nightmare make over. read more

The food is ok, kind of plain. The prices are a little to expensive for what you get. $.40 for a small salsa cup and $1.25 for a can of soda turns me off. I could under maybe a round number like a dollar for a soda but that extra 25 cents irritates me. But the people who work there are always nice and pleasant read more

They give you your money's worth. I had the speedy Gonzales special of grilled chicken, peppers, onions, cheese, rice, beans, avocado & tortillas. Generous portion plus canned soda for about $10. It just wasn't very tasty & reminded me that as person born in Texas, Mexican food in NJ or PA is rarely to my taste. There was a steady stream of people picking up orders. Best Mexican in the area... nothing fancy if you are not into mex but just good all round ingredients and simple food with a side of tasty rice and beans. Fish / steak / chicken are all good with the corn tortillas. Personally I liked the chicken chimichanga, but the highlight is surely the impossible cake - half flan and half wet chocolate cake.. I wasn't too keen on their chicken adobo but everything else were solid. read more

Decent place to eat that breaks the norm for us. Pros: cute, well branded, smells wonderful, the homemade tortilla chips and the mild salsa is literally the best salsa I've ever tasted. Staff is EXTREMELY friendly. Impossible cake is so so yummy. We received a free sample. You also get free chips and salsa while you wait for your food. Cons: small/cramped, no waiter service, plastic plates/utensils, only cans of soda and bottled water, all food is pre-prepared and nuked when you order it (you can hear the microwave). Music is kind of loud to the point where the bass rings in your ears. The food is definitely tasty but it would be a million times better if they made it fresh to order. Wish there was a fountain for drinks and real plates & utensils. This food might be better enjoyed as takeout. I'm on a mission to get some of the mild salsa and chips to go. We aren't local. I can't see us making the hour trip just to come back, but if we did, it's for the salsa and impossible cake! read more

The girl in front was awesome and attentive. There were one man waiting for a togo order and one couple. It should have been a sign to leave when alot of items on the menu where crossed out. I ordered the carne asada meal and a tres leche. They were out of the tres leche. So i wait and wait and wait and my food is finally ready. I get home and open my container and tortillas. The tortillas look like the ones out a taco store bought package. I taste the beans and promptly spit them out. They were horrible!!!! Tried the rice, no good. So i start on my meat. First off ive never had carne asada where the beef is already cut into slices. Tastes over cooked and waaaaaay too much pepper. Honestly i through it away. Maybe im just spoiled bc. I live in virginia ans have millions of spanish food places, but i will not be going back to this place. Sorry guys read more

The beans could use some updating as I found it too much of a mush. The fish tacos are awesome but my fave is the vegetarian enchilada! What a great surprised with fresh grilled veggies that were still crisp and great flavors! I am from California so I have great exposure to Mexican cuisine and while they excel with food flavorings, they can improve on the beans and tres leche! its too condensed and the whip cream seems more like frosting.... this dessert is suppose to be extra light and should dissolve in your mouth. read more

Big flavor at a small restaurant in a shopping complex. I was introduced to this restaurant by a local who swears by their pork tacos. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere, the staff, and the fish tacos.The food was fresh and the salsa was homemade and to die for. I am looking forward to going back to this restaurant and trying other items on the menu. I am a huge fan of Mexican food and this place did not disappoint me. Very authentic! read more

I think this is my new favorite local 'greasy taco' joint for two reasons: 1) the food - great touches like some chunks of pineapple on the pork tacos and fresh avacado slices on all the platters. I didn't even try the "warning: very hot" salsa from the self-serve appetizer bar (next time) 2) I don't have to go into the bowels of trenton to get to it (as I did for my previous favorite). I had passed this place dozens of times and only just had occasion to stop in (very unassuming road signage). Great find and great value! read more

Well, the service and the quality were sorely lacking here tonight. We ordered 2 nachos and 1 carne asada. We got the carne asada and one nacho. When I asked if they had forgotten the other one, I was met with total incomprehension, a smile and a nod. I reminded the person who had taken my order that I was due another order of nachos and she said they were coming and called the next person to pick up their order. I explained that the entire order should have come together and she just blinked at me. So, hen I attempt to et my carne asada and the meat is tough and nearly impossible to chew. I've gotten take out a few times over the last year. Being something of a one-trick pony on my part, its always been burritos and small quac sides. Between my GF and I, we've had most of the burrito variations and they are all good... I have a pretty good appetite, and one is usually sufficient, but I buy 2 so I can have the other one the next day. I alternate back and forth between the red and green sauces that come in each bag (each burrito comes in it own marked bag with it's own sauces). The guacamole is good... not great, but good. They have a big tray of complimentary tortilla chips... if you're getting takeout ask at the counter and they will give you a small paper bag to fill up and take home. The prices are fair and this is my go-to place for take out Mexican. read more

Ended up waiting an additional 30 minutes once I arrived. Meanwhile 3 other orders went out, so they were not overwhelmed. Not one mention of a causal apology for the wait.
