These folks deserve a lot of credit. The food is FRESH. That said, totally get the guacamole. Fresh guac is very nice and not easy to find. I've never had a bad meal here. I love that they keep the place clean. The staff are generally pleasant. There is one cook there who is very nice and has been with them seemingly since inception. He does beautiful work too. His food tastes great and he presents it well. The only thing that I do not like about this place is that the music is too loud almost every time. So if you're looking to relax and eat a meal in peace, its challenging with the loud high tempo mexican music on the speakers. If I've had a stressful day, I specifically will not go here JUST on account of the loud music. But all in all, I give this place a big thumbs up. Its a gem. read more

I may be biased coming from San Francisco and Boston in terms of Mexican food. I decided to give the place a shot given the 5 star reviews and the relative new opening of the restaurant. I didn't have high expectations by any means, but I thought it'd be a decent meal. First thing that shocked me was the prices. It's cheaper than other types of food because it is still Mexican food, but it was on the high end for an order here and take to your seat place. The service was great by all means, the employees were hispanic and very friendly. The kitchen looked fine. Nothing was wrong with the decor. I found that the food lacked bang for the buck. For $7 I got two carne asada tacos, a slice of avocado, rice and refried beans. The tacos were on the portion of Taco bell $2 value meal size. The quality much better than Taco Bells, but falls short of other Mexican places as the steak felt extra salty and extra cooked and not juicy enough. My friends got the tamales which was grossly overpriced $9 and my other friend got the Nachos which did not look appealing at all although he said that they were good. My friend who got the tamales said she must have bitten into chicken bouillon cubes that did not finish cooking with the rice. I didn't really have any issues with my food aside from the whole damn, this is it? Couple of other things, there was only 1 fork left at the help yourself utensils area and there were like a basket full of spoons. Chips and salsa looked like they were free, again a help yourself, but was not very clear. I won't come back. I am not sure where the five starrers have been in terms of Mexican, but this place is nice and quaint and all, just not enough to make it a repeat. Again, nothing wrong with the service and the employees, food was mediocre at best and more expensive than I'd imagine for what I/my group got. I would recommend that you come and see for yourself, it just wasn't for me. read more

I absolutely love this place!! In fact, I crave it on a weekly basis. I have had many items on the menu; tacos, burritos, salads, enchiladas, chimichangas- all excellent, fresh and authentic! I love that they make their salsa fresh each day using ingredients from the Trenton Farmers Market. Also, everyone is so friendly and the prices are extremely affordable. You can even BYOB. My husband and I will often bring a few coronas with us when we eat there! So fun! Apparently they are doing so well they opened another restaurant in Hamilton. I've been to that location twice and it is equally as good. You need to eat here. It's great! read more

This is one of the best small businesses in Ewing and I am super excited that they have a TCNJ location now! This place is very close to my work and it's one of my favorite places to wander to during my lunch break. The service is quick and the staff is very friendly. The food is pretty good and you get a good amount of food for the price. I would recommend the chorizo quesadillas. They are perfect! Also, the unlimited amount of chips with salsa are so addictive. The only downside is that I have to go back to work feeling enormous after stuffing myself with all their delicious food :) read more

This place has seriously gone downhill over the past couple of years. It seems that since they moved to the larger location, they can't get their act together. 4-5 years ago, this place would have gotten 5 stars from me. The food was delicious and the service was great. I'm from Southern California and very picky about my Mexican food. I liked it better when it was just a hole in the wall one strip mall over. However, now, they never get my order right, always forget when I order (and pay for) extra sour cream, and they stopped serving the most delicious refried black beans. :( There never seems to be a manager (or anyone who knows what's going on) at the Parkway location. It might be time for me to go on the hunt for another Mexican restaurant. I heard the owner spends his time over at the Hamilton one. Maybe I should start going to that one instead. read more

The lady in the front had a disgusting attitude, she overcharged me & got upset when I asked why is my order $25 when I only ordered a burrito. This place never disappoints!! Nothing fancy but the food! This place is a very small and I would recommend take out rather than eating in. The food is fresh and authentic. The owner once told me that the recipes were her mother's straight from Mexico. You will not find better Mexican food in this area! My boyfriend and I always get the Miriachi Plates because you get a little of everything. For $9.99 you get three servings from this meal. It comes with half a quesadilla, a tostada, 2 flautas, a pork burrito, rice and beans. There platter also has some pickled jalapeños, fresh avocado, tomato slices, sour cream, homemade salsa and lettuce. When we call ahead the food is always ready when we arrive and the staff is always friendly. Be sure to have some of the homemade tortilla chips when you are there! We always take some home! Love this place... Actually there are two. Ewing and Hamilton location. Great authentic food at super prices. We like the one in Hamilton for dining in. Its the best Mexican I have had in a very very long time. There is usually a line because it's that good. The place is low on decor, and they call you to the counter to pick up your food. I had heard good things and decided Cinco De Mayo would be a great time to try it out. I stopped by to order take out for my husband and I and the place was packed. This place used to be really good before they moved to the adjoining strip mall. Since then not only the equality but even customer service is deteriorated. I have given enough chances to see if they get their act together. In fact today, I ordered chicken quesadilla and was charged 50 cents for jalapenos. After I got back to work and opened my lunch to find out the chicken is absconding and it is cheese quesadilla. I called the restaurant to let them know and the lady said next time I come in I get free jalapenos. I will definitely not be going there. read more

This place used to be great. They have changed locations and along with it have really slacked in the quality of the food. The chick n used to be great but now it's all stringy and horrible (probably cheaper). The taco meat is ok but when I ordered last time it was cold. The customer service is horrible. Especially the skinny older gentlemen who sometimes works the register. He is very unfriendly. This place has gone downhill so far that I will never eat there again and I'd urge you to do the same. I tried Mariachi Grill again thinking maybe it has changed since my last review. And...it was disappointing yet again. I can't believe all the reviews that state it's authentic. Not even close. I waited for over 40 minutes for a takeout and when I finally got my lunch it was soggy. The fish tacos are in a funny colored batter. The chips were burnt. I guess the only reason this gets a 4/5 review is because it's the only Mexican restaurant in the area. The lady behind the counter was very rude to her employees. Told a customer that didn't receive her whole order to go back home and check the bags. Poor customer service is an understatement. She kept yelling at the nice guy taking the orders. read more

The place is a great addition to the Ewing food scene. The shredded pork burrito is really good. The monthly specials are generally a good addition to the menu. As pointed out in a earlier review, the tacos seem to be the worst deal, but most other items are inexpensive. If you eat there, the meal includes chips and homemade salsa. Long time customer here... I and my coworkers come here a lot... we are all fans of the place. The steak quesadillas are my favorite; they are not the best healthy option but are great tasting, so I keep coming back to them. Others I work with like other dishes better. Another good thing: Mariachi gives out free chips and salsa (up to 2, which is almost always enough) as well, which is a big help if you have to wait for your order or want to diversify your order. The place is small but if you order takeout, or, come outside of the 11:45-12:30 window, you should be ok without a long wait or should have room to sit at a table. read more

All things are relative. This is not a fine dining restaurant so the decor etc is really not relevant. Its a joint... a Mexican food joint. But the food is really, really, good. I went to Mexican Mariachi last week with my friend after our class got out and we hadn't eaten all day so needless to say we were both very hungry. The lady at the cash register was one of the friendliest people I've ever met and I had the Mariachi Plate and loved every bite of it. The chips and salsa you get with the meal are very homemade and unique tasting and if you're not careful will fill you up before you have your actual meal! The chips were thick and the salsa was just spicy enough where it didn't ruin the meal for me. The tostada I had was great also. I will definitely be going back. I'd eat here over Chipotle and conveniently for me Mexican Mariachi is located way closer! read more

Tried this restaurant today for this first time! YUM! I got the shredded pork tacos and they were delicious. They were the perfect portion size and came with excellent refried beans and white rice. We also had a starter of guacamole which was really good. I never had flan before, but the sample I had was fantastic! Don't let the location scare you away... yes, the parking lot is small and the building a little out of the way, but it is definitely worth trying.
