Wow, time has flown since I wrote my last review of Meyer Painting in March 2021. Lucky for me, Meyer Painting still delivers exceptional craftsmanship and painting service. Our roof blew off at Christmas, and floors were damaged. After the re-roofing was complete, and new floors installed, we contracted with Darin and team to paint the baseboards and damaged areas. Henry and Gregario showed exceptional attention to detail, and perfectly blended the new paint with the existing walls. Plus, they were able to work with the chaos of movers and plumbers banging away. Again, I love the results and would definitely hire Meyer Painting again and again. read more

We hired Meyer Painting to remove the kitchen wallpaper and glue then prime walls with one coat of oil based primer and two coats of paint to walls, ceilings, trim, and doors. His crew were hard workers, unobtrusive, and cleaned up every afternoon before leaving. The exhaust hood was installed after his crew had painted the ceiling so the ceiling needed to be floated and repainted. Gregorio did an excellent job and Darin charged us a fair price for the additional work. read more

Be cautious with this company. Our signed contract specified one coat for trim and easements--colors were not decided prior to signing the contract. When I chose a darker trim color than the existing white the owner suddenly required two coats and trid to add over $1900 not in the original contract. I avoided that by keeping the original color on the easement (white) and my darker one coat on the trim only. Then in a final invoice an additional $860 for a "change order" fee appeared out of nowhere. There was no change order and no signed agreement for this additional fee. The work itself was fine, but the billing felt like a deliberate contract padding. Read every line carefully when signing a contract with Darin and be on the alert for any unsigned so called changes. Per California Consumer Protection laws and as is also stated in Darin's own contract all "change orders" need to be agreed upon and signed off in writing. read more

First, I have to say, I'm so impressed with Greg's stucco professionalism and the exceptional work. Greg has been repairing the damaged window sills at Palm Breeze Villas on our five buildings. Greg's work did a detailed and thorough job. As he completed every window sill, he kept the area clean and neat. Greg assessed the damages for each window and completed each window sill to perfection. As HOA members we appreciate the fact we could trust Greg's work and not having to supervise the work. The work is so professional, that the original builder was on site, and approved Greg's work. We rate the work, 10 stars, exceptional and completed the repairs in a very timely manner. I hired Darin to paint both the interior and exterior of my home in Marin when the lengthy remodel we undertook after the purchase was complete. He did a great job - his crew are excellent, hard workers. It's his attention to detain which is really important - Darin takes the doors off the hinges and brings them to his shop to paint, he doesn't do it while they're onsite - this ensures a smooth, flat coat. He doesn't use tape because as he points out - paint will creep around the tape's edge and leave a blurry line. Since he did the house he's painted several of the interiors as I've changed colors and every job is as good as the last. Would definitely recommend - he's not the cheapest but he IS the best. read more

I got a bid to paint the exterior of my home. It was very expensive. Meyer justified the price by saying that they do all the most expensive homes in Mill Valley, and they said that our house was more than 2 stories tall and that it would therefore be extra expensive. My man and I then decided to spend the lazy summer months slowly scraping and painting the outside of the house by ourselves while we playing fun music. It was slow but really fun work and we did such thorough and careful work. We had one scaffold so we could safely reach the 2nd floor and even some of the 3rd floor, no problem. But we couldn't easily and comfortably reach the top floor of the house. So we reached out again to Meyer to get another quote for just the top floor, exterior only. Meyer has professional scaffolds and we only want to do work that is safe to get done. Meyer came back with a quote which was very similar to the first quote. And yet we had spent the entire summer doing an excellent job scraping, wood putty-ing, sanding, primer-ing and painting the exterior of the house. My man painted houses in the summers in college and knew exactly what to do, and frankly as owners we did the highest quality job by ourselves. We scraped and painted least 50% of the home's exterior. When I asked Meyer why their bid for the top floor was still so high, the owner (Darren?) snorted his derision and said it's because we did only the easy parts. This was not only an unacceptable response, it was given in an unnecessarily and extremely rude manner. We decided that we would never, never use Meyer. We then looked further at San Rafael and Santa Rosa painters and got a quote for the upper part of the house, a quote which was 1/3 of Meyer's quote for the same job. These Latino men were fabulous and easy to work with. They got the job done professionally, we sold the house for a nice profit, and everyone moved on. I hope Meyer might consider the concept that arrogant attitudes will not get you far in life or earn you new clients. read more

Meyer Painting painted the exterior of my house in Greenbrae and they did a fantastic job. I especially appreciated that the guys did a really good job of cleaning up after themselves - they cleaned up very thoroughly each afternoon (took 2 weeks) and upon completion. They were also incredibly detail oriented. In addition to painting, they are able to help with other small repair jobs so you don't have to seek out a separate handyman and organize that yourself! Consistent with the other reviews, Darin stopped by several times to supervise and inspect but these guys are really pros and very self sufficient. I would definitely hire them again. Darin hooked me up with a professional color specialist to help me with color schemes and worked with him to give me the best look based on my life and personality. Darin's team of painters are fast, clean, prompt, professional and oh so thourough! And I have always been impressed on how Darin shows up always throughout the job to make sure that we are happy and that the crew is "keepin it tight and doin it right!" and of course they always are. I just love this company! I didn't mention it, but I am always needing it Yesterday, or sooner if possible!! But they always show up for the task and pull it off, Just like those home shows where the budget is tight and everyone has to work around the clock to get it done in too short time. Meyer Painting saved me when I was in the clutches of a painter who was in over his head trying to paint my house. So they really saved my house. I got the owners name from Marin Color (they saved me too!) and he called me back that day. Darin Meyer (owner) came by and gave me a really good faith quote and started work 2 days later. His team was professional, the foreman was extremely professional and skilled and the team always smiled and communicated with you, and cracked some good jokes too. I was really sweating it (my bad decision with the other painter) and Meyer Painting made it so easy for me. They had all their supplies and materials. Had all the needed equipment. They didn't keep coming to me asking for money. They took care of everything. I would use them again in a heartbeat and will refer them to my neighbors and friends. The work they did for my house was a major exterior paint job on an old house with old wood and years of weathering. Even the color is so pleasing. I feel good about this decision.
