Ms Quy Long is an excellent tailor-seamstress. For many years, I've been coming back to Meyerland Val-U cleaners for all my clothing alteration needs. She charges reasonably, and gets the job done quickly. Also, this business moved to a new address, on the same street, just 300 feet east of its former location. I have been here maybe 3/4 times now. I think the staff/ owners of this establishment is friendly enough. My only complaint is that they don't seem to have a standard pricing model down. I have been told different prices almost every other time I've been there. My first time there, they quoted me $1.59 per shirt, which I was fine with. I dropped off 5 shirts. When I came to pick it up, I was charged almost $20. I was confused and asked why I was charged so much; the cashier just told me that the owner wrote that price and she didn't know why either. So she fixed the price for me. I went back again and this time, I was helped by the owner. I asked her what they charge for dry cleaning and she told me $1.59 as well. So I thought it was just a mistake, cool. No big deal. I recently dropped off one shirt before an event. Went to pick it up and they tried to charge me almost $4. I asked them why and was told that "oh, because you drop off one item, it's easier to get lost in the process. Next time bring in more than one item." she said something else, but I forgot. Either way, I think it's a very bad business practice. I expressed that to her and I also told her that if that's your policy you should post that somewhere or let your customers know before they use your services. Would not recommend this place for any alterations that are more labor intensive that you need done. I dropped off 2 dresses to be altered and was told would take a week. I came back a week later and they still were not done. I told them I was going out of town and I wanted to try them before I left. I was assured when I returned from my trip that they would be done. I went back 3 weeks later and they still were not done! It had been a month. When I finally got the dresses one did it fit and had to be redone and the other the sleeves were all messed up. I didn't even bother having them fix it and took them to another tailor! I would stay clear if you have any fancy dresses that need altering. I had my first alteration experience here and I was super impressed. After reading quite a number of positive reviews in regards to alterations, I decided to give this establishment a shot. I have a pair of H&M work pants I wore very often to work and it has undergone much wear and tear. Eventually, I had a hole in the crotch area (easy access, yay) and the ends of my pant legs were slightly shredded. I could not part with these pants since my buttocks looks so good in it and also because I paid $40 for it. I asked for the hem line to be moved up slightly and for the crotch area to be restitched. 3 days later, and my pants looks like the day I got it at the store. It was $25 and with the 50% holiday discount, I ended up paying $13.50. I would highly recommend to anyone. read more

In a moment, you are going to hear the REST of the Story": In the 1920's Rip was a celebrity and even visited with President Calvin Coolidge in Washington, DC. His survival story became legendary in a small town in North Central Texas. He was the toast of the town! Yet, when eventually he died of pneumonia, penniless, hardly anyone attended his funeral or saw him in his open cardboard coffin. Nevertheless, to this day, even though he is still relatively unknown across the USA, some curious people still come to see his grave. It all started in 1897 at the ceremony of the third county courthouse building, where the stranger was introduced to the locals. But in a few years he was forgotten again... for 31 years... until the next and bigger courthouse building was to replace the old one. At the ceremony after the teardown, there was the usual fanfare and ceremonies with local politicians. The highlight was the opening of the cornerstone time capsule left from the original building. The master of ceremonies pulled out the old newspaper, a bottle of whiskey, some odd items and put them on a table. Then, in the middle of all this, Rip made his appearance on stage, and even though he was filthy, the crowd gasped. You see, Rip was a 'horned toad' (type of lizard). 31 years prior, he was placed alive into the time capsule cornerstone on a whim to see if the legend of their long hibernation capability was true. "Mr. Woods (a local who put him in) reminded everyone that a horned toad had been placed in the cornerstone. This would be an opportunity to see if the Indian legend of the toad's longevity was true (this was before PETA). Word spread and a crowd of 4,000 people showed up. Most of them left when they discovered it wasn't a hanging, but enough were there to witness Rip's resurrection. His seemingly lifeless body twitched and he seemed to inflate himself as he breathed the fresh air. Eastlanders went wild. Westlanders went wild. The bottle of 31 year old whiskey disappeared. Rip went on tour. He went to Washington D.C. and sat on the President's desk (This was Calvin Coolidge, a man only slightly more talkative than Rip), he went to St. Louis, he made public service announcements and endorsed tennis shoes. I've come here several times to get my clothes dry cleaned. As far as that goes, I've never had an issue with this place in this regards. My clothes come back clean and pressed. The reason why I'm giving this place this 5 stars, though, is for the TAILORING. This place flat out does the BEST tailoring I've ever had. I recently lost some weight and had to have several of my suits tailored. Initially I was going to go back to the place that I purchased the suits from, but I hadn't been particularly impressed with the tailoring I had received when I initially purchased the suits, so I decided to give this place a shot. I am so happy that I did so. The lady that handles the tailoring did an OUTSTANDING job on the suits I brought in. You can tell she's extremely experienced at tailoring. I've gotten so many compliments on the work she did on them. From now on, anytime I purchase a suit (or slacks, or even dress shirts) from someplace else, I'm just bringing them straight her to get tailored right the first time. Horrible experience. I had my wedding dress cleaned here and assured it would be done several days before I flew out to my destination wedding. The day before my morning flight, the dress was not done and we had a horrible time trying to locate it. The owner told me to come back the morning I flew out.... which was impossible and I had previously told her that when I dropped the dress off. When my fiancé went to pick up the dress, the owner told him it wouldn't be there until 10 pm.... when they close at 6:30. Save yourself the headache and do not come here unless you have time to wait. read more

This is the best dry cleaners/tailor I've been to. Ms. Quy is extremely respectful and kind to me. She's really professional and elegant. All of the employees are kind and respectful to me as a customer. I've been to this location many times. The shabby and cheap cleaners near my location offers abhorrent service, and they do atrocious work on your clothes. Ms. Quy has done excellent tailoring work for me, such as stitching for my shirts, and buttons for my pants. Another thing I like about this establishment is that it's always clean. This dry cleaners would be brilliant for married couples, college students, and professionals. I've never had a problem with this dry cleaners. I've received so much shabby and appalling service from many rundown dry cleaners around my residential location. During my first visit to this dry cleaners, I knew I wouldn't go back to the shabby dry cleaners. This is the kind of business I would expect to be located in Sugar Land, TX. We dropped off 7 shirts to be laundered. Two of the shirts were brand new and had never been cleaned yet. When we picked up the shirts we noticed large creases in some of the shirts, but that wasn't such a big deal. When we tried on one of the shirts the next day we noticed that all of the buttons were cracked and chipped! We went back and looked at the other shirts and noticed the buttons were cracked on 3 of the 7 shirts. When we took them back to the owner (Mrs. Quy?) she said that this is standard at all dry cleaners and she could replace the cracked buttons for $20. She also started mentioning that maybe these shirts were cracked from a previous washing to which we let her know these were brand-new shirts! Afyer complaining she agreed to fix the buttons for us free of charge. When we picked them up the following day, she casually told us that the buttons would crack again if we laundered them at any dry cleaners. Will not be returning here. read more

This is probably the worst dry clean in Houston. We gave them our slip covers for our sofa to dry clean. They came back significantly smaller than they were, and did not fit our our sofa. After we came back they promised to somehow fix it, solve the problem and did nothing. The woman working there, when she heard it is us calling usually hung up the phone.
