We came here after seeing a video on Instagram that made the food look incredible, but it didn't live up to the hype at all. The beans tasted like they came straight from a can, there were no homemade tortillas, and the pancakes were nothing like what was shown online, dry, bland, and missing the fruit and cream. The drinks were way too sweet, and the waitress had zero personality, which made the whole experience feel awkward. The food was not good. I got chicken mole enchiladas $16.99 & the mole was super sweet. The rice was cold. The beans tasted like can beans. Café de Olla had a good taste but was super sweet. Menu said $4.99 I was charged $5.99. Ordered a pancake for my friends son & it looked like a muffin top & they had no syrup. Service was ok. The place itself is very esthetic but thats about it. This is such a charming restaurant, and the food is phenomenal! Service was quick and the atmosphere perfect for lunch with a friend. All the staff were friendly and knowledgable of the menu. The food was fresh. We had tacos (pescado & camaron) and sopa de conchitas. (Shell pasta soup). I recommend checking this out for authentic flavors and an enjoyable experience. This restaurant is a bit hidden and next to two other businesses that all share a small space for making parking a little difficult. The indoor decor as well as the outdoor seating areas are inviting and clean. The waitress was very quiet without any personality making conversation and ordering awkward. We were the only party inside, two parties outside, and service was on the slower side. We opted for the chilaquiles verdes with over easy eggs. The green sauce had good flavor with the right amount of spice. I tried the cafe de olla but sent it back as it tasted "off" and overly sweet. A kids menu is available and they enjoyed the pancake that was "light and fluffy" served with Nutella. Light table appetizer served while waiting. The tortillas were not homemade. read more

Authentic Mexican restaurant with great decorations and scenery. I had the ribeye steak tacos and I would say they were 4/5. Flavorful and well cooked -- happy it wasn't well done. There's a hostess at the front and she was cool. My to go order was missing the cilantro but overall it was a cool spot. I want to return to dine in so I could truly share my experience. First visit was right after they opened. It was a 3 star experience. Just went again and it was a 5 STAR EXPERIENCE. Had the Shrimp Poblano plate with rice and beans. SCRUMPTIOUS. Great little place in a unique location, under the oak trees. Very Mexican decor. Nice bar and spacious patio. Excellent, relaxed atmosphere. Server was attentive. Everything was going fine at first; the drinks tasted more like juice with just a hint of alcohol. We respectfully let our server know that we weren't happy with them, and she said another bartender would remake them, making it seem like it was no problem. Later, we decided to order another margarita, and this time they asked if I wanted tequila or mezcal (which they hadn't asked the first two times). Since margaritas are typically made with tequila, we clearly said tequila. When the drinks came back, we tasted them and they were definitely mezcal margaritas, which was strange because we never asked for mezcal. We let the server know, but instead of simply checking, she kept going back and forth insisting they were made with tequila. As a bartender myself, I know the taste of mezcal, so it was surprising to be met with that attitude, like we didn't know the difference. At that point, we told her we would not be taking the drinks, and she took them back without any apology. We were never rude, we calmly explained that the drinks didn't taste right. There was an opportunity to simply apologize and remake them correctly with tequila, but that never happened. When we asked for the check, she asked, "What do you want me to charge you for?" which was honestly confusing. As the server, she had the order in the system, so it felt strange for us to have to figure that out. If she intended not to charge us for the drinks we weren't happy with, that should have been communicated clearly, or they could have simply charged what they felt was fair. This was our second time coming here because the drinks and service had been great before, but we left really disappointed and definitely won't be spending any more money here. read more

Instead of a typical chips and salsa starter, they bring out chicharrones with a cold salsa blend which, admittedly is unique, but unusual. For the main dish I ordered the quesabirrias, arguably one of my favorite Latino dishes of all time. It came out super soggy to the point where I couldn't even pick up the taco without it falling apart, smaller than the average quesabirria taco, and the meat was overcooked, dry, and grainy. Usually served with onion, cilantro, and lime, only received a little onion and cilantro. when I asked for a lime, they had no slices prepared and had to cut a fresh lime. The price for what I received I would say was a bit higher than expected, although a typical quesabirria plate is usually not the cheapest. Overall, not a great experience. read more

The food was another hour and when I got mine, they had a hair in it. I just asked for a new plate. I'm pretty sure they just added to the plate I had ! the cost of the food is pretty expensive but would be well worth it if the food was good. Coming here for the first time and received a rotten lime with my margarita and the chips we received were really stale. The service was good though and our waitress gave us new chips when we let them know it was stale. It was pretty empty in the restaurant when walking in but more people arrived as we continued our meal. read more

Everything was just perfect. It is beautifully decorated and the staff were very attentive, kind and friendly. We got the best service possible. Our service was very good--very attentive and nice waiter and waitress. We ordered tacos de cochinito pibil--very good; tri color mole enchiladas- good but a bit too sweet and quesadillas-very good. The three salsas range from very picoso to mild to interesting. They gave us those horrible processed wagon wheel tasteless chips which they were more than happy to exchange them for fresh chips. I hope that they redo the indoor decor as it would only improve the place. Bathroom was clean.I will be going back. read more

I walked in with high expectations, after all, the location was previously the upscale restaurant called Palomar. Seems like Mezcal is nothing but a poor generic knockoff of Palomar. They kept the design, colors, furniture, even Palomars dishes (plates, forks).... but what they failed to do was recreate the upscale ambience with the unique flavors. Only one person spoke English ( I think he was the manger). We were definitely disappointed by lack of the personalized attention we have grown accustomed to... ie, Mirasol, Sol Luna, and Palomar, etc... Hopefully they will get their menu, service and concept together, because the place is too beautiful to go to waste ss is. Right now, definitely not a do over for me. read more
