Was searching for a great and tasty place to take a long time girlfriend of mine to celebrate her upcoming baby that's coming soon! She doesnt really have many friends in the SA area so my MIL and I wanted to treat her out to make her feel special! The staff is very friendly and patient. Lane provided awesome service. The restaurant is rustic with southern charm. The food is down home, southern charm and hearty. I ordered the steak and eggs and my mom had the green leaf salad with a side of fried chicken. I also got a side of jalapeño cheddar hash browns. Everything was presented well. The only issue was the food was a tad bit salty. The food was seasoned with flavor but it felt as if they finished everything with a final layer of salt. Visiting my daughter in San Antonio we decided to visit here before our movie. A little out of the way for us, but less than 5-minutes from the movie theater. So glad my daughter had this place earmarked to visit. Tucked away in a small but quaint shopping center with an outdoor seating area patio too. We decided to sit at the bar because we had less than an hour to order and eat. I'm so glad we did, immediately upon sitting down we had glasses of water and bartender took our wine order. I love checking out the menu before arriving so I can be prepared. We ordered the Pork Belly Biscuit, the Crab Fingers, and as our main course the Half-fried chicken. Let me say, WOW! Everything was amazing and so fresh. Listen, when you are ready to splurge on your diet, go here and have the Fried Chicken. So good, crispy, juicy, tender, flavorful. The stuffed crab fingers are perfect, left in/on the crab shell so very easy to eat and so flavorful. Highly recommend, and the wine/alcohol beverages are a good selection. Came here for a date night on a Tuesday. It was pretty secluded, pretty much had the whole place to ourselves. Keep your eye out or have your maps going if you're driving down Bitters Rd because it's easy to miss your turn! Service was quick. Staff asked us what we would like as soon as we sat down and made sure our waters were filled. The pumpkin spice martini was interesting. They made it pretty strong and the pumpkin wasn't overpowering. Their pizza was great. It was topped with sausage, kale and goat cheese and wasn't burnt. I visited during restaurant week, and it was a lovely experience. The service was excellent. Our reservation was at 1:30 PM, and we arrived just as the lunch rush was winding down. It was a beautiful day, and the restaurant was nice and cool inside thanks to the strong air conditioning. We ordered a variety of dishes so we could try as much of the menu as possible. Based on my previous experience with their chicken biscuits, I knew their chicken sandwich would be phenomenal--and it was! Our server brought us extra ketchup without us even having to ask, and all the fixings were delicious, including the pimento cheese, honey lard butter, and citrus dressing. We came here on a Saturday for dinner. We had reservations and were sat right away. We came at five and probably didn't need the reservations, but it got pretty busy while we were there. The restaurant was quiet and nicely decorated. The inside had a good amount of seating and there was a large patio. Parking is scattered throughout The Alley, but could be tight during breakfast/brunch. Our server was wonderful and attentive. We started with the corn fritters, which came with five fritters and a good amount of the nduja spread. They came out hot and fast and were delicious. I got the burger and my wife got the fried chicken and green beans. The portion sizes were great and the food was amazing. Meadow is a great place to start off Restaurant Week August 2025. I was confused by the special menu and thought I would need to buy bigger pants after their special brunch menu. But Lexxus assured us the portions would not leave us in abdominal pain. $30 for the option to try this many items was a plus. I tried the San Antonio Summer cocktail that included some heat from Massenez Liqueur de Piment Oiseau (Chili Pepper). Refreshing with a little heat. Now I'm starting a batch of my own because it is hard to find. Their biscuits are a little crisp on the outside and soft in the middle. Very nice. The sausage gravy was flavorful. The deviled egg was very tasty. The fruit and yogurt plate contained a lot of seasonal fruits including really good peaches. We tried the brisket and pork loin. I think my favorite was the pork loin. The cheesy scrambled eggs were perfectly cooked with some sharp cheddar cheese. The summer vegetable and potato hash was like chunky has browns and included a variety of other vegetables like green beans, sweet potatoes, and squash. The combination worked well together and didn't need catsup. The last course could be considered dessert. Peaches and Cream French Toast. Fresh peaches with whipped cream and a vanilla streusel paired well together. We left full, but kudos to the chef for being able to create a brunch menu for Restaurant Week that highlights so many great menu items. So many other restaurants offer meager choices for their restaurant week menus. We got to try 8 menu items in one meal! read more

Hands down one of the BEST in San Antonio! I've come here only a handful of times over the years, but Meadow never disappoints. Most recently, I treated myself to brunch. The espresso martini and cinnamon roll were the perfect way to start my meal. The espresso martini was not too sweet, which is the only way to make a great espresso martini, and the cinnamon roll was the perfect combo of ooey gooey cinnamon goodness. For my meal, I ordered a staple. Eggs, brisket and breakfast potatoes with a homemade tortilla. Add on the house hot sauce. I promise you won't forget it. The service was perfect, as expected, and the entire restaurant was in pristine condition. Meadow is located in the ever so beautiful Artisans Alley, so arrive a little early for dinner or stay a little after brunch and check out some of the cute vendors in the area. The definition of a hidden gem, literally and figuratively. This cute restaurant has a farmhouse feel with farm fresh food that is to die for. The bacon egg and cheese fries were a perfect starter, especially when paired with a delicious house made Bloody Mary. The steak and eggs were delectable. The NY strip cut was perfectly cooked, tender and juicy. The eggs were mixed with cheese and were fluffy and flavorful. The arugula had a lemon flavor that was complimentary to the eggs and steak, and the house made hot sauce hollandaise was the perfect topper for the perfect bite. The biscuit was soft and flaky and the apple butter (not pictured) made it even more delicious. Our server Maddie was wonderful and made our dining experience even more enjoyable. Service was a bit off putting, saw 5 employees, bartender to the left upon arrival never even looked up at us or the people at the bar in the 5 awkward minutes we stood there, was a quiet time of day and not one person looked up or away from their conversation amongst themselves...we waved at the folks in the kitchen and we got seated eventually after advising we had a reservation for my birthday. Server advised everything is made to order and there's usually a wait on main dishes so she recommended ordering starters, that was great but mid conversation we overheard the kitchen right behind us say something and she immediately left...explained since stuff is made to order they all gotta respond to expo dishes asap...which made sense except for the fact our food was served lukewarm and the same sense of urgency didn't seem to apply for our meals...it was also explained food is locally sourced and organic in most cases but the American cheese square "Kraft" like slice threw off the flavor of the biscuit It was ok but none of us finished the side of the biscuit with that cheese on it...it was maybe an off day but for a birthday brunch we left disappointed. The Meadow is always great. Usually bring out of town guests and they always enjoy. Atmosphere is super relaxing either inside or outside. Food is delicious. Their steak, burger and fish entree are always spot on. My recent visit I had the gumbo with grilled shrimp. Only downside is that drinks from the bar take too long. Unfortunately we had a very unpleasant brunch experience. The waiter was MIA the majority of our visit, he forgot basic requests. We ordered the Peach French Toast and Fried Chicken sandwich. The French toast was burnt and I mean burnt! The fried chicken sandwich came with dry brioche bread and no sauce. The chicken was cooked pretty well but needed seasoning. After finally seeing out waiter he asked how our meal was and we showed him the burnt french toast. He then asked is we would like a box??? Ummm no?? We explained to him again ( which shouldn't have been needed) that the meal was inedible. Why was this even served when it's clearly Burt to a crisp? The manager came by and said, "I wish you would have told me sooner" Ummm, first of all we couldn't find our waiter and how are we to know who you are when the staff was MIA. Went with friends for brunch and it was good timing as they had a special pre-selected brunch menu that we were happy to try out: (served family style) For starters, we had Mini cinnamon bun rolls and banana nut bread with honey butter. When they were brought out, the mini buns were still warm and just melted in your mouth. The honey butter that came with the banana nut bread just set it off, delish. Next up, was some Pecan/Caramel French toast, cheese scrambled eggs, applewood smoked bacon and some pork belly hash. Everything was delicious. Definitely an indulgent meal but YOLO! I'll have to walk a little extra to work this off ;-) They also have a large list of boozy brunch drinks besides the standard Mimosa or Bloody Mary. And as another side note, one of my buddies was not in a breakfast mood and ordered a pizza, so I grabbed a slice and to no surprise, it was also very good. I am not sure why I've never seen this place. I've lived in San Antonio for a long time and this is like a hidden jewel. The ambience was so cute. The service was excellent and the food was so yummy. Definitely will be going again. This is a must try but first you have to find it once you park your car that was a hardest part. We also waited a long time for our waiter & had to request our bill to pay out. The waiter also seemed very out of touch with the menu options or suggestions and it seemed like we kept getting forgotten outside. It's especially not a great way to start a celebration of bridal shopping which I mentioned to the girl who sat us hoping that it would give us better service. I really wanted to like this place but unfortunately for me it missed the mark. My boyfriend spent over $100+ for us to have one appetizer two entrees and two drinks each. It would've been okay if it was somewhat filling but it was not. Food was overpriced for the small portions and the worst part of it all was my French toast was extremely burnt like the bottom of the toast was black. I let the server know that the toast was burnt and she said "that's how it comes." But after insisting the toast was inedible, she offered to serve me something else and took it off the bill since I had only tried one small bite. Ambiance was okay but lights were really dim and drinks were kind of underwhelming. It was okay but overall probably would never come back. I'd rather go somewhere like happy monk where you can get the same thing for half the price and better service. read more

Hidden gem for a weekend brunch spot! So glad I decided to try this place for the first time. It's located inside the Artisan Alley shopping area. When you first drive in, Meadow is to the far right towards the back of the parking lot. Decor is modern rustic, offering a cozy vibe for a relaxing dining experience. There is a inside main dining area and and few more private smaller rooms. The outside dining area is nice and would be a perfect option on beautiful weather days. Menu is southern cuisine with a Texas "twist". Offerings are seasonal, but recommend starting off with the jalapeno cheddar biscuit if dining for Saturday brunch. All the entree options look tasty, but I can for sure say my steak and eggs plate was delicious. Brunch libations were creative and tasty as well. Service was super friendly and attentive! Happy hour is only 2 hrs long which is very short but.. the choices on the happy hr menu isnt the best either. Service was fine.. our waitress just came by way too often asking if we were doing ok. I asked for drink recs on the happy hour menu and she kept suggesting ordering from the original menu. Food all tasted really good. But for the price... i dont think ill be back. If i had to choose my fav, it would be the hummus. But the Pork Belly Biscuit was a huge let down. how can someone serve something that small and charge ~$8 for it. Holy molasses! How have I missed this place?!! Hands down the best food I've had in San Antonio so far. Like... this place is so good, I'm a little afraid to write this review and have other people crowd it up at lunch. I needed to get out of the house so went looking for a lunch place nearby. This place popped up and I thought it'd be cool to give them a try. It's in artisan's alley, at the back, so you'll have to go upstairs to get to it (there may be another way in). It was super chill, with the perfect service - not too pushy, but still attentive enough that my water got refilled when I needed it. The music was very oldies, so it was quite soothing to sit outside and hang out. But the food! I had the meat and three and chose the gulf shrimp, with the roasted veggies, the corn fritters and the candy bar. The shrimp were cleaned, seasoned and cooked perfectly! The roasted veggies were probably my very favorite thing since they were seasoned and not mushy. The fritters were the perfect blend of crisp and creamy. Oh my gosh. Like just... so good. The candy bar was a bit too much chocolate for me - solid chocolate with nuts and a peanut sauce. Still good, but I couldn't get anywhere close to finishing it. Quite good. The venue is larger than it looks from the outside. Also plenty of outside seating that looks like it would be fun during the fall and winter. The menu is not extensive and I'm ok with that. Do a few things well and you're pretty much golden. We started with the corn fritters. Several of the apps are also sold at happy hour prices. A good $2 - $2.50 cheaper. Husband had the NY strip medium; I had the halibut. Also, a green salad and the watermelon salad. The salads were tasty. The entrees were delicious. The halibut came with small potatoes and was sitting in some delicious broth. I was given a spoon to get all the broth. The husbands strip was cooked perfectly. The seasoning was exceptional. The only bummer we're the desserts - feta cheesecake and a peanut butter something. Neither appealed to us. Our server Hattie was excellent. Took the time to talk about the weekend breakfast. It's pretty clear I like this place. Hubby and I came on Friday for restaurant week and everything was fantastic. I ordered off the Restaurant Week menu - (Grilled Okra, Shrimp and Grits and the dessert that wasn't the Candy Bar). Everything was amazing. My husband ordered the the cornbread to start and fried chicken which was fried to perfection. The thing I love the most is the food is always hot! Now fast forward 2 days, we go on a 20 mile bike ride and end up back at Meadow. Breakfast was the rejuvenation we needed for our soul. Stop by if you have a chance. The waitress told us that we would soup up the sauce with the halibut and she was right! So good. Mushrooms are amazing - sauce underneath is fantastic. Burger was good, though I myself was not a fan of the American cheese and the bud was really dense- but the burger itself and the fries were amazing.
