Fire Mexican food. Authentic dishes. Lots of items to choose from. Happened to be in the area so we dropped in for lunch. The restaurant is very clean. Lots of outdoor seating too. You order at the counter then are given a number. Picked up some complimentary chips and salsa and waited. The salsas here were pretty good. Particularly like the mild red salsa. Fresh radish and jalapeños available too. I loved my California burrito. I added avocado to it. The asada were meaty and plentiful. Fries were crunchy yet not greasy. My mom loved the beans here. That's always a big deal with Mexican spots. The chilaquiles were delicious. I'd order that myself on the next visit. We didn't care for their scrambled eggs on the plate, could've went a bit softer on the scramble. Overall this place is a great local spot for Mexican eats. I've had the pleasure of eating at Mezcal Grill many times over the years, both dining in and taking out, including at their Broadway location. The service and food quality have always been excellent. They have a huge menu, a friendly staff, and a relaxed atmosphere that feels a step above a typical taqueria or fast casual spot, with solid table service to match. It's about time I gave them the credit they deserve because their food is consistently great. Historically, I've loved their enchilada plate, especially the mole enchilada. It's one of my favorites. Today, with the sun out, I was in more of a mariscos mood, so I ordered the shrimp ceviche and the fried tilapia plate. The ceviche is very bright and fresh, with mango mixed in, which adds a really nice layer of flavor to the traditional combination. It comes with freshly fried tostadas that are crisp and flavorful. I'm not personally a fan of the white crackers on the side, but they also bring complimentary chips and salsa, so once the tostadas run out you can use the tortilla chips instead, which works just fine. The tilapia was excellent. It's hard to go wrong with a well fried tilapia, and they do it right. The guacamole and pico on the side are great for building tacos, and the beans and rice are both perfect. You really can't go wrong coming here, especially with the variety they offer. Sitting outside on the patio is nice, though this particular location can feel a bit sketchy at times since a few odd characters often cut through the parking. It's mostly fine, but if you're looking for a more relaxed patio vibe, the other location might be a better option. That said, this spot also has a comfortable indoor dining area. read more

We chose to go here due to the great reviews on Yelp, and as usual the Yelp reviews were accurate. We were quickly seated and chips, salsa and water were on the table so fast. The chips are good, but nothing particularly special. The staff was friendly, as were the other diners who offered unsolicited suggestions of their favorites, one of which my mom chose to get! We ordered a shrimp burrito, a mahi-mahi burrito, and the mole enchiladas. All three were excellent, and the portions (especially the burritos) were large. Immediately I told my husband let them know we will go to Mezcal. It's always packed here and you can't tell by the service. I let them know how much I love the chili relleno and one ordered it. The other ordered beef tacos rice and beans. I'm always getting the shrimp which is filled with great flavor perfect spice! I could take that sauce with beans and rice and have a great burrito from it. We ordered the chimichanga. Which hubby says was delicious. The guacamole Here is always amazing. The salsas and chips are great. I love all the open windows in the restaurant. We were able to catch up and have a great time. The chorizo queso is a must try. I work near this establishment and this has been my go to lunch spot. I order a Torta de Asada with fries, and it always hits the spot. Mezcal's quality of food is really high in my standard, and if I want to impress people with a spot, I bring them here. The service is amicable and very fast. There are lots of great spots to sit indoor and outdoor. The parking around it sucks, but there's nothing they can do about that. Food price is good, service is good, and ambiance is good. Great customer service, very attentive with a large group! I lived in Natomas for most of my life and I have never visited this Mezcal Grill location - we usually go to the one closer to East Sacramento. We came in on a Friday at 8pm and the place was pretty busy, but we were seated right away. There was inside and patio seating and everything felt clean and modern. We ordered the Soft Flour Ground Beef Tacos and Crispy Chili Verde Tacos. The crispy tacos were not hot and neither was the rice and beans on either plate. The ground beef was super salty, to the point where I couldn't even finish and I like salt. Service was great and friendly, but I was not a huge fan of the food we ordered compared to the other location. I kept seeing other customers ordering the Molcajete so maybe we just ordered the wrong items. We'll give them another chance next time we're in the area! read more

My family and I visited during the day and had an incredible experience with delicious food, fast service, and of course, a fantastic margarita. From the moment we walked in, we were impressed. We were seated right away, and within a minute, we were served waters along with complimentary chips and salsa. Our server was incredibly sweet and patient--especially with our energetic 2-year-old--and she was quick to take our order as soon as we were ready. The service was impressively fast, and before we knew it, our food had arrived. As a vegetarian, I was thrilled with their menu options. I ordered the quesadilla plate with Impossible meat, which was a pleasant surprise since it's rare to find meat substitutes at Mexican restaurants. The portion was generous, served with rice, beans, and guacamole. It was perfect for sharing--my son happily enjoyed the rice and beans while I devoured the quesadilla. It's about time I update my review! We've been coming here for many years, and we have never had a less than stellar experience here. Service is always friendly and efficient, food is full of flavor, and they are always making changes for the better! Most recent change is the dining room, specifically the chairs.
